Helpful Tips for New POS Users Click each numbered button below to familiarize yourself with key features in Point of Sale for small commercial quoting. Account Information and Eligibility The Quote Defaults button, on the left navigation bar of the account landing page, allows you to set BOP quote preferences such as agency code, general liability and property limits, deductibles and broadening endorsements at the individual user level For new accounts, select the small commercial tile on the account landing page in order to register the account and select the lines of business from the Account Information screen for quoting in POS, or for attaching and submitting applications There are two tabs available for account information: Open Quotes and Issued Policies You can access a quote proposal for an individual quote or an account proposal for multiple quotes You may copy quotes for multiple quote versions. The ability to edit the description makes versions easily identifiable. Underwriter Information & Referrals Comments for the underwriter can be added in POS on the Processing Results screen or from the Account Information screen When a referral to the underwriter is required, you may quote and refer online by clicking the Refer to Underwriter button When you refer a risk to the underwriter, your quote information will automatically be sent to your underwriter, and you will receive a prompt response We continue to expand The Hanover appetite. If you have a question regarding a specific classification, please contact your Small Commercial Underwriter, or your Small Commercial Sales Manager (SCSM). BOP Blanket coverage options are on the Policy Level and Rating information screen Spoilage coverage is listed under the business personal property coverages at the location level Most classes will default to Yes for employment practices liability (EPLI). It is a great option to offer, but you may select No to exclude. It is capped at 50 employees (including full-time and part-time employees) Commercial Auto POS begins the numbering of vehicles with the number 10 Quotes are not final without MVRs MVRs can be ordered in POS after the initial rating process. MVR results will display instantly* POS has a Copy Vehicle feature for multiple vehicles with the same classification or description. Once vehicles are copied, descriptions can be edited by entering the vehicle identification numbers (VIN), selecting all vehicles, and clicking Evaluate VIN
Experience Rating or Scheduled Rating is required for fleets (five or more power units). A referral to the underwriter will be required Individually owned private passenger type (PPT) vehicles used primarily for business are eligible For CA agents, MVR results will return immediately to update quotes. Agents will not be able to see the actual MVR results, but premiums can be updated and released when no referral is required. Workers Compensation Our appetite for monoline workers compensation (WC) varies by state. If you have a question regarding our appetite in your state, refer to the appetite for the risk, or contact your underwriter or SCSM. All WC policies with scheduled pricing will generate a requirement for a referral Billing and Payment Options Direct Bill is the default billing option for all policies. Agency Bill is considered an exception For installment plans, a bill due day (the day of the month on which the insured s installments are due) may be selected Payment plans, installment fees and late fees vary by state. Billing documents by state are located on our billing resource site at hanover.com/billing Electronic funds transfer (EFT) is available for all payment plans. There are no installment fees for EFT-billed policies. Pay-by-phone options are credit card, debit card or check Pay-by-web options are credit card, debit card, checking account or savings account The maximum allowable transaction is $500,000 Issuing Policies If no referral is required, once you complete the Billing Information screen, you are ready to issue You will have the opportunity to verify or change the effective date of your quote, if necessary Clicking the Issue Policy button will submit your policy for issuance If the Issue Policy button is disabled, the quote may be incomplete, or a referral may be required If a referral message is indicated on the Processing Results page, you will have a Refer to Underwriter button. A risk may be referred from either the Processing Results screen in POS, or the Account Information screen.
Quote Defaults Page Ability to set individual default preferences by user. The Quote Defaults screen, available from the left navigation bar of the account landing page, provides the ability to set individual default preferences at the user level. When defaults are set, all options remain available via drop-downs. Save time by defaulting your specific agency code for quoting. Set your BOP quote preferences for limits and deductibles. Protect your E&O by setting defaults consistent with your agency s quoting standards. Increase your revenue by automatically including options as an easy way to upsell. Example: Set the umbrella default limit as $5,000,000, and our quote proposal will display premiums for each umbrella limit, beginning at $1,000,000 and going up to $5,000,000 for your customers review. Update your Broadening Endorsement preferences.
Proposal Defaults Page Quote Proposal customization features are available via the Proposal Defaults button on the left navigation bar of the Account landing page. Customization is available for both the Master View and Individual View. Customize options for each agency code individually or all at once by using the All option. Co-brand the quote proposal with your agency logo. Maximum dimensions are: 3 wide x ½ high at a resolution of 300 DPI and less than 1 MB. Convey distinct information about your agency by entering an Agency Message. The maximum allowable text is 365 characters. Display your agency website address and agency email address prominently on the quote proposal. These features, updated at the Agency Administrator/Principal Master user level will display on all commercial lines quote proposals created in POS for the agency code(s) identified. You may add a profile picture. Maximum allowable dimensions are: 1 wide x 1 ¼ high at a resolution of 300 DPI and less than 1 MB Add your individual email address and phone number so your customer may contact you Select the Hanover Heritage Message (reasons why we recommend The Hanover) that suits your needs Select the billing options you want displayed on your quote proposals
Proposal Print and Customization Page Ability to print your account proposal or change options for an individual quote. There are two file types available for printing your proposals: PDF and MS Word. You may also print other documents, such as applications and worksheets. The Customize Proposal button provides an opportunity to customize an individual proposal without updating your defaults during the quoting process. Change your defaults for all of your POS proposals here by clicking Save as Default. You may customize a specific proposal by making the desired selections and simply clicking Continue.
Account Eligibility Page Quickly look-up and pre-qualify an account including state-specific appetite and eligibility by line of business before you begin your quote. Select a classification by entering class name or NAICS code. You can also find a class by selecting an industry group from the industry solutions list BOP-eligible classifications are indicated in the list of classes. Appetite information by line of business and underwriting eligibility is automatically displayed. After reviewing eligibility, check the box to confirm eligibility for online quoting. If the risk is not eligible for online quoting, you may click Continue to submit an application. You can also return to the class selection to select a different class if the insured does not meet eligibility guidelines, or contact your Underwriter or SCSM with any questions.
Line of Business and Account Selection Page Select lines of business and register an account for quoting. Select all lines of business for the risk and either quote or submit an application, based on eligibility. When BOP is selected, you will confirm risk eligibility for online quoting. New account registration is simple. Enter minimal information to determine if an account already exists. If any matches exist, they will display here. Select the existing account to add a new line of business. If the account does not exist, click Register New Account.
Account Information Page Review account information and check quote status. Click a line of business to expand the view to see information such as the submission status. Simply click on the item row to collapse the details. Actions are available, based on the status. For example, you may be able to edit a quote, copy a quote, or edit a quote description to distinguish multiple quote versions. The Attach Application feature allows you to submit an application that does not qualify for online quoting. You can also include other pertinent information along with your application. If you choose to attach applications, the button will change to Submitted once the application information is sent.
Pricing Options Page Review account information and check quote status. Pricing parameters are provided, based on the risk state; minimum premium information is provided in the appetite review. When pricing is applied, the Schedule Rating Justification screen must be completed prior to policy issuance. Pricing justification is simple. First, select the category. Then, enter the pricing adjustment for the category. Select a justification reason from the options in the drop down.
