Use of Non-GAAP Financial Measures 58 Adjusted EBITDA, restaurant-level adjusted EBITDA, and restaurant-level adjusted EBITDA excluding pre-opening costs are all non-gaap financial measures. Adjusted EBITDA is defined as earnings attributable to the applicable segment before interest, loss on extinguishment of debt, income taxes, depreciation and amortization, impairment and other lease charges, stock-based compensation expense and other income and expense. It includes an allocation of corporate and brand general and administrative expenses (each excluding stock-based compensation). Restaurant-level adjusted EBITDA (excluding pre-opening costs) is defined as Adjusted EBITDA excluding franchise royalty revenues and fees, pre-opening costs and general and administrative expenses.
