Is Office Ally s EHR Certified for Meaningful Use? No Electronic Health Record system in the country is certified. EHR companies cannot apply for certification until September 20 th. On August 30 th, the Office of the National Coordinator announced the first set of organizations that they have selected to certify EHR systems for Meaningful Use. On September 20 th, both certifying agencies will provide certification process details and start accepting applications. Once Office Ally has reviewed both agencies we will select an organization and apply for Meaningful Use Certification. Once our application has been accepted by the selected agency a certification date will be selected within two weeks. Office Ally has performed internal audits using the final data available to ensure certification.

Do I Qualify For Stimulus Money? Does your practice see Medicare or Medicaid patients? If the answer is NO then you do NOT qualify for Stimulus Money. You must E-prescribe to qualify for Stimulus Money. At least 50% of the prescriptions written must be electronic You must be able to prove you are a Meaningful EHR user.
Medicaid Providers Your Medicaid patient volume must be greater than or equal to 30% of practice. Non-hospital based pediatrician must have patient volume greater than or equal to 20% of practice.
Medicare Providers Your incentive payment will be limited to 75% of the total allowable Medicare charges billed in the calendar year, not to exceed the maximum incentive payment for said year ( see Medicare Incentive Schedule on next slide). In 2015 Medicare reimbursements will begin to be reduced for providers not using an EHR. To receive the first payout after April 2011 you must have been using a meaningful use certified EHR for at least 90 days.

Can I receive Bonus Stimulus Money? Health and Human services has Identified areas where providers may qualify for up to a 10% bonus in Stimulus Money. If a provider practices in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA), a Medically Underserved Area (MUA) or in a Medically Underserved Population area (MUP) the provider is eligible for A 10% bonus. Health Professional Shortage Areas HPSAs may be designated as having a shortage of primary medical care, dental or mental health providers. They may be urban or rural areas, population groups or medical or other public facilities. As of September 30, 2009, there are: 6,204 Primary Care HPSAs with 65 million people living in them. It would take 16,643 practitioners to meet their need for primary care providers (a population to practitioner ratio of 2,000:1. 4,230 Dental HPSAs with 49 million people living in them. It would take 9,642 practitioners to meet their need for dental providers (a population to practitioner ratio of 3,000:1). 3,291 Mental Health HPSAs with 80 million people living in them. It would take 5,338 practitioners to meet their need for mental health providers (a population to practitioner ratio of 10,000:1). Medically Underserved Areas/Populations Medically Underserved Areas (MUA) may be a whole county or a group of contiguous counties, a group of county or civil divisions or a group of urban census tracts in which residents have a shortage of personal health services. Medically Underserved Populations (MUPs) may include groups of persons who face economic, cultural or linguistic barriers to health care.
