5 2017 Scholarship Winners We are happy to announce the three winners of the 2017 Youth Scholarship Program: Amanda Wallin, Chris Collins and Ethan Tan. These students have excelled not only in their studies but also in many extracurricular and leadership activities. Amanda Wallin is a graduate of Lafayette High School and plans on attending Indiana University in the fall, majoring in Public Policy Analysis. Chris Collins graduated from George Rogers Clark High School and plans on attending the US Air Force Academy in the fall, pursing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Ethan Tan is a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and plans on attending Purdue University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. These students received $2,000 from Members Heritage to help finance their continuing education. Annual Meeting Notes Bobby A. Flynn, Board Chairman, called the 57th Annual Meeting for MHCU to order on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. There were 162 members in attendance at the meeting. Two Director Emeriti, Joe Nichols and Jesse Northcutt, and retired President, John Brubaker, were recognized. Reports were given by the following: Bobby A. Flynn, Board Chairman; Treasurer, Manlus (Les) Burton; President, Pat Ferry; Supervisory Committee Chair, Mark Mefford; Education Committee Chair, Mike Harding; and Nominating Committee, Connie Oliver. Chairman Bobby A. Flynn recognized Bobby Joe Young for his 20 years of service and presented him with a service pin. Jim Allen recognized Bobby A. Flynn for his 45 years of service and presented him with a service pin and plaque. It was reported by President Pat Ferry, that 2016 was another extremely busy and challenging year. New services and enhancements added in 2016 included: online lending platform, EMV chip and PIN technology for debit cards, upgraded online banking, completed remodeling to some areas at our Park Place branch and sale of the Zebulon, NC, branch. The next items on the horizon are: new online membership application that is in testing and will be released soon, new debit card processor in July to help the credit union realize a significant cost savings, the addition of an ewallet product and upgrading information systems hardware and software for security and increased performance. We continue to review and evaluate new products and services to enhance our members credit union experience. President Pat Ferry concluded with, 2016 was a good year. Thank you for your support and usage of the Credit Union. I want to assure you that your credit union is Safe, Sound and Secure! We are excited about 2017! There were two vacancies on the board to be filled. The Nominating Committee nominated Jim Allen and Mike Proctor to fill the vacancies. With no other nominees being submitted, a three-year appointment to the Board of Directors was declared for Jim Allen and Mike Proctor by acclamation, by Chairman Flynn. A drawing for several door prizes courtesy of Members Heritage and area vendors/business partners was held. The meeting was then adjourned by Chairman Flynn. At a later date, the Board s reorganizational meeting was held and the following offices were filled: 2017-2018 Officers Bobby A.
