QUICK START Your Guide to Using Telemet Orion 1
Your Telemet investment platform is organized into Workspaces and component displays. Component displays are individual windows with market data, charts, news, key stats or other data. You may move among these with a mouse. Workspaces are collections of component displays. When you initially start Telemet, you will see one default predefined workspace. You may modify this default workspace, or view another workspace using the Manager selections on the left of your screen. From the manager you may also start component displays with tools at the bottom of the Manager. 2

A Workspace is a group of data, chart and news components that best fits your investment process workflow When you start Telemet, you will see a predefined workspace desktop and a list of other workspaces (at left). Note all workspaces are completely customizable. And workspaces are stored on your PC so you can share a complete set with anyone else at your firm. Double click on a Workspace Name shown in the Telemet Manager window. Components associated with that workspace will be seen. Arrange any component displays the way you would like to see them (or add components using Display/New) then choose Display / Workspace / Save As to create a new workspace with its own name. To make the current workspace default on launch choose Display / Workspace / Set current as default from any Telemet component display. The next time you start Telemet, that is the workspace you will see. 6
Company, index, treasury, currencies, futures market data update all in real-time are on your default workspace. On the upper left of your default is a ticker list of the Dow Jones 30. To add to this list - right click on a ticker symbol, select insert ticker and type in a ticker. Alternatively, select menu item Options/List/Edit and edit the list On the upper right of your default is a ticker list of major indices. You may edit this list with the menu item Options/List/Edit 7
View a security price; also see bid ask, fundamental data such as P/E, EPS, and dividends called a Snap Quote. From this component display you can get to key stats, charts and other information by using the tool bar at top! To see a snap quote, From any Telemet display just press the F5 Function Key Or Choose Display / Snap Quote to display a Snap Quote. Type in the ticker. The tool bar takes you to charts, key stats and other data with a single click! To look up a ticker by name, click on the name field in the snap quote. Type in part of the name find the ticker. Use the * symbol before the name to do wild card searches. Double click on the company name to see a Snap Quote for that company. NOTE: To get a snap quote on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 8
On the News display, you view scrolling financial news for the current day, a specific company, a portfolio watch list or a subject or key word(s). Several News sources are accessible depending upon your subscription. Dow Jones, Press Wires, Real-Time Trading news and Telemet News are possible choices check with your sales representative to see which you are entitled to. To see scrolling news on ticker Snap News just press the F6 Function Key Or Choose Display / News/ to display news. Click on the KS button from the toolbar to open Key Statistics or use More Lots of data are shown or can be drilled down in this display: Click on any value in blue to see more data Click on any report name in the left side panel to switch to that report Click on the tabs below the trade data to see more information such as - The Financials tab shows the company s financial reports The SEC Filings shows the company s SEC s 10K and 10Q filings NOTE: To get Key Stats on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 10
Select Co- Snapshot from the menu item at the left of the Key Stats display. These snapshots may be printed for management or client meetings. Explore the other Company Reports available on the left of the Key Stats display. NOTE: To get a Co-Snapshot on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 11
Select Earnings Estimates from the menu item at the left of the Key Stats display. The five tabs across the top of the display, show additional estimates data. NOTE: To get Estimates on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 12
Select Company Calendar from the display on the top of any component window. Select the sample account called Lipton Sample Acct. Your own accounts appear once you have loaded them. The current month calendar appears. You may see event details of any day by drilling down on particular day. If the account contains a company with an event, the top of the day s box is yellow. See June 20 th for example. NOTE: The day s box includes economic events, earnings announcements and corporate earnings call data for that day. Use the Chart Display to chart company or economic specific market data over a selected period. Chart index data and overlays of financial and technical data on these charts. Choose Display / Charts from any component display to see a chart or Select a Workspace Charting Company Charts or Chart Table View. Switch from historical to intraday charts by selecting the Type button. Switch among saved charts by clicking on the Name button. Add overlays to a chart by clicking on the Add Overlay button. Look for the Charting Heading on the list of Workspaces, then select Chart Table View S&P workspace Telemet charting is powerful and flexible. The data table may be customized to select data items you want to see. The overlays may be financial data (on the chart shown at right, we have earnings announced each quarter and a trailing 4Q earnings line. Contact Client Service for help. To watch individual trades and/or individual quotes, VWAP and exchange for a ticker, look at the Time and Sale and Time and Quote component displays. Here is how to see them. From a New Display, click on Display/Time and Sale Alternatively, Select the workspace called Time and quote The settings top offer flexibility to select the VWAP computed time interval, filter the trade size, the exchange traded, and the money flow ticks. Select sales only or quotes with the S or Q tool. NOTE: To get Time & Sale or Time & Quote on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol 16
Portfolio analytics deliver insights into factors that make up your portfolio and illustrate how your investment decisions affect performance. The attribution reports provide analysis of your portfolio returns versus a benchmark. From a Component Display, select the menu Display,/Portfolio Analytics/Multistyle Attribution Select the portfolio, benchmark, time frame and analytics (GICS benchmark) from the << at upper left of the display. Reports are selected from the upper right list box. The reports run locally on your PC providing extra security for you and your clients. NOTE: Video training is available for Attribution Reports. Stay on top of changes in your portfolio. The Portfolio View displays portfolios in real time, displays prices, net change and intra-day contribution and attribution and optionally groups contribution and attribution by sector or industry. Tabular and graphic contribution and attribution are shown. From a Component Display, select the menu Display,/Portfolio Analytics/Multistyle Attribution Alternatively, Select Workspace/ Portfolio View Intraday At top select the portfolio and benchmark. Below see the sector contribution and attribution. Below this see the holdings, right click to group by S&P or Russell sector or industry. See the current holdings, portfolio weight, contribution, attribution and a more button to drill down to other data or charts. 18
As of Date Reports show holdings that make up your portfolio as of a certain date, and illustrate weights and components of your portfolio relative to a benchmark. Over and Under weights, gain loss and research reports can be shown as of any date. From any Display, click on Display, Portfolio Analytics then choose As of Date Select the Report desired, the date, and the portfolio. Report metrics may be customized using the modify button at the bottom of the selection box. NOTE: Video training is available for As of Date Reports. CFRA is the owner of what was once called the S&P Stock Reports with STARS rankings. The STARS rankings are determined and assigned by equity analysts. The quantitative recommendations are determined by ranking a common stock universe on 5 categories, Valuation, Quality, Growth, Street Sentiment and Price Momentum. Select CFRA Stock Reports from the menu item at the bottom left of the Key Stats display (page 9). You see up to 9 pages of details on a particular company. NOTE: To get a CFRA Stock Report on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 20
Select Institutional Ownership or Insiders from the menu item at the left of the Key Stats display (page 9). The first selection shows mutual fund and institutional ownership for the company. The second selection shows insider/stakeholder ownership. You may see details of these data such as contact names and phone numbers - by drilling down on particular insiders or institutions. NOTE: To get Ownership data on a different ticker, simply type in another symbol. 21
Equity Screening lets you test investment strategies across the database. You can screen on you own universe, a benchmark universe, or your model or individual portfolio. Telemet offers templates to get you started and you can modify or create new ones. You can screen across hundreds of financial, price and momentum metrics. To get to Equity Screening, select a component display menu item Search Screens. Select a named template search the display at right shows Growth at a reasonable price. Telemet spreadsheet library contains a host of templates to make MS Excel custom analysis and reporting a breeze. Telemet offers templates to get you started. Templates show Economic Data, Yield Curves, DuPont Analyses, Portfolio Reports and many others. To get to the spreadsheet library, select a component display menu item Help. Select Contents and look for the Spreadsheet Library. You can download any template from this list. The underlying engine is called Telemet IQ and provides links from your Telemet platform to MS Excel. NOTE: Video Training is available for both Spreadsheet Library and Telemet IQ. Choose Display / Markets / NYSE / Most % Up from any Telemet Orion window. This displays the Market Summary page. Navigate between the different Markets and the different Categories with the arrow keys on your keyboard or with your mouse. 24
You can manually enter tickers and save them in a ticker list to better manage your component displays. To Create a new Ticker list, click on the Create List button on any component display. Enter the title of your list in the Name field of the Symbol List New screen. Click on the Symbol List tab. In the Symbol field, enter tickers and click on the Insert button or press the Enter key. Select the Type of ticker symbol - Stock, Index, etc (I, S, O or F). Enter as many symbols as you want. When done click OK. Access the list in any price display by using the list box in the upper right. 25
