We provide ARRA alerts on the latest information about the federal stimulus program, EMR adoption, health information exchange quality measures, and other technology-related updates. The MMS works with payers and other health care parties to alleviate the administrative burden for physicians. We continue to urge Congress to institute a rational Medicare physician payment system that automatically adjusts to compensate for the everincreasing cost of running a practice and is backed by a fair, stable funding formula. The MMS initiates public health strategies to address emergency preparedness, obesity, environmental health, and violence and bullying prevention.

A: MMS members are required to belong to a district medical society. Upon group enrollment, existing members remain in their current districts. Q: WHAT IF SOME PHYSICIANS HAVE ALREADY PAID DUES? A: Any dues paid directly by a physician will be reimbursed to that physician. If your practice paid for the physician s dues, it will be applied as a credit to the group invoice. This also applies to dues paid for MMS multiyear membership options. Q: HOW DOES OUR PRACTICE SAVE TIME? A: Reduce administrative hassles and simplify billing with one bill for your entire group. Centralized communications with the MMS and MMS-generated group rosters ensure accuracy and limit the need for multiple phone calls and emails. Q: HOW WILL GROUP MEMBERSHIP HELP US RECRUIT? You demonstrate a commitment to your profession and to your group by providing membership in the nation s premiere medical society. Q: WHAT IF A NEW DOCTOR JOINS OUR GROUP DURING THE MEMBERSHIP YEAR? A: We will update your group enrollment information and send you an updated invoice. Q: WHAT IF A DOCTOR LEAVES OUR GROUP DURING THE MEMBERSHIP YEAR? A: The physician remains an MMS member for the rest of the membership year. Groups can update their rosters at any time to ensure a physician is removed from future invoices.

Q: WHAT DOCUMENTATION DOES THE MMS NEED? A: Group administrators generally submit a copy of the group/office letterhead or some other information that identifies their group. Q: ONCE OUR GROUP IS ENROLLED, DO THE INDIVIDUAL PHYSICIANS HAVE TO DO ANYTHING? A: The MMS requires a signed application for each member. We will send an application directly to any physician who joins through group enrollment. Q: WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE? A: Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. If your group remains unpaid after February 1 of the dues year, the physicians in your group will be returned to individual billing at 100% dues.
