You pay premiums every year for e selected premium payment term which helps in determining Basic Sum Assured and hence e Guaranteed Income. 1 Dea Benefit In case of an unfortunate event of dea of e life insured during e term of e plan, your nominee will receive Sum Assured on dea irrespective of Guaranteed Income already paid. The Sum Assured on dea is defined as; For entry age less an or equal to 50 years For entry age 51 years and above Higher of; 11 times of annual premium, Basic Sum Assured, Guaranteed Maturity Benefit Higher of; 7 times of annual premium, Basic Sum Assured, Guaranteed Maturity Benefit The Sum Assured on dea is subject to a minimum of 105% of total premiums paid (excluding extra premiums, if any). 2 Survival Benefit # During e Payout Period, you get Guaranteed Income every year. Thus, e Guaranteed Income will be ` 78,000 and will start from e end of e 16 Policy year. At e end of 17 Policy year is Guaranteed Income will increase by 7% simple percentage and will be calculated as follows: Guaranteed Income (at e end of 16 policy year) = ` 78,000 Guaranteed Income (at e end of 17 policy year) = ` 83,460 [78,000+ 5,460 i.e. (78,000*7%)] Guaranteed Income (at e end of 18 policy year) = ` 88,920 [83,460+5,460 i.e. (78,000*7%)] The same will be followed till e end of e Policy Term. # Payout period refers to e tenure during which e Guaranteed Income is paid, which starts after completion of 1 year after e end of premium payment term. 3
3 Maturity Benefit Guaranteed Maturity Benefit as a percentage of Basic Sum Assured shall be paid at maturity. The Guaranteed Maturity Benefit varies as per age at entry of policyholder and e Policy Term. Kotak Accidental Dea Benefit Rider (ADB UIN: 107B001V03): In case of dea of e life insured due to accident, rider sum assured will be paid in addition to e dea benefit under e base plan. 5 Additional Protection Kotak Permanent Disability Benefit Rider (PDBUIN: 107B002V03): In case of life insured being permanently disabled due to accident, benefit is paid in installments. 4 6 Policy Loan Facility 10 Reduced PaidUp Benefit Kotak Life Guardian Benefit Rider (LGB UIN: 107B012V02): In case of dea of e policyholder (if different from Life Insured), outstanding premiums are waived and will be paid by Kotak Life Insurance. Kotak Accidental Disability Guardian Benefit Rider (ADGB UIN: 107B011V02): In case of accidental disability, outstanding premiums are waived and will be paid by Kotak Life Insurance. Terms and Conditions 1. Dea Benefit: If e dea occurs during Grace Period, e due unpaid premium (if any) till e date of dea will be deducted from e Dea Benefit. For nonannual Policy, e balance of e premium for at policy year will be deducted from e Dea Benefit. 2. Survival Benefit: The Guaranteed Income will be first adjusted against e outstanding loan amount (if any) before it is paid to e Policyholder. 3. Maturity Benefit: The Guaranteed Maturity Benefit will be reduced to account for any outstanding loans (including interest). 4. Grace Period: There is a grace period of 30 days for e yearly, halfyearly and quarterly mode, and 15 days for e monly mode from e premium payment due date wiout levy of any interest or penalty. 5. Riders: The payment of Rider premium will be made in addition to e premium for e base plan and collected along wi e premiums for e base plan. 6. Policy Loan: Loans can be availed under is plan rough Kotak Life Insurance up to e limit of 80% of e Surrender Value of e policy. The Company shall determine e rate of interest from time to time. Currently e interest rate is 12.5% compounding halfyearly but it can be revised from time to time. The policy will be unconditionally and fully assigned to Kotak Life Insurance as security for e loan and interest repayments during e period of e loan. Policyholder will be intimated in case outstanding loan amount (including interest) exceeds 95% of e Surrender Value (higher of GSV or SSV). In case of failure to repay e outstanding loan wi interest, policy will be foreclosed. The policy will not be auto foreclosed where all due premiums have been paid. In case of any benefit payout before e end of term or at maturity, e Company is entitled to deduct any outstanding loan amount, togeer wi all interest payable before making such benefit payment. 7. Lapse: For policies where premiums are not paid wiin e Grace Period, e policy shall lapse from e due date of e unpaid premium and no benefits will be payable, subject to e following conditions: For PPT less an 10 years, if premiums are discontinued anytime during e first two policy years, e policy shall lapse at e end of e grace period. For PPT of greater an or equal 10 years, if premiums are discontinued anytime during e first ree policy years, e policy shall lapse at e end of e grace period. 6 8. Policy Revival: A lapsed or a Reduced PaidUp policy can be reinstated for full benefits on revival wiin two years of e first unpaid premium. The revival can be done wiout evidence of good heal on payment of e outstanding premiums wi late payment charges (currently 9% p.a. of outstanding premiums), if e payment is made wiin six mons from e date of first unpaid premium. Thereafter to revive e policy, evidence of good heal would be required along
wi payment of e outstanding premiums wi late payment charges (currently 9% p.a. of outstanding premiums). If a lapsed policy is not revived during e Revival Period, e policy will be terminated wiout paying any benefits. However, if a Reduced PaidUp policy is not revived during e Revival Period, it will continue in at mode until maturity. 9. Surrender: The policy acquires a Surrender Value depending on e premium payment term chosen and e number of premiums paid: For policies wi premium payment term of less an 10 years: The policy acquires a Surrender Value provided premiums due for at least 2 policy years have been paid in full. For policies wi premium payment term of greater an or equal to 10 years: The policy acquires a Surrender Value provided premiums due for at least 3 policy years have been paid in full. Guaranteed Surrender Value (GSV) is calculated as X% of total Premiums paid (excluding Goods and Services Tax and Cess, as applicable, Rider Premium and Extra Premiums, if any) less Guaranteed Income already paid (if any). In any case, e higher of e Guaranteed Surrender Value and Special Surrender Value will be payable. On Surrender, all benefits will cease and e policy terminates. The surrender value will be paid out as a lump sum benefit. 10. Reduced PaidUp Policy: After e policy acquires Surrender Value, if e subsequent premiums are not paid wiin e Grace Period e Base Policy along wi Riders (if any) will be converted into a Reduced PaidUp policy by default. Upon being made Reduced Paidup; policy may be revived (for e original benefits) wiin 2 years from e date of first unpaid premium. rider benefit will be available as per Reduced PaidUp Sum Assured (if applicable). The Surrender Value payable will be higher of Guaranteed Surrender Value and Special Surrender Value. 7
Guaranteed Income during Payout Period: During e Payout Period, e Guaranteed Income will be paid as e percentage of Reduced PaidUp Basic Sum Assured. The Reduced PaidUp Basic Sum Assured will be calculated as: (Total Premiums paid / Total premiums payable over e term) X Basic Sum Assured. Payout at Maturity: On survival of e life insured till e maturity date, Guaranteed Maturity Benefit will be paid as e percentage of Reduced PaidUp Basic Sum Assured. The Reduced PaidUp Basic Sum Assured will be calculated as: (Total Premiums paid / Total premiums payable over e term) X Basic Sum Assured. Payout on Dea: On dea of e life insured during e policy term after being made Reduced PaidUp, e benefit payable will be Reduced PaidUp Sum Assured on dea. The Reduced PaidUp Sum Assured on dea will be calculated as: (Total premiums paid)/ (Total premiums payable, during e entire policy term) x Sum Assured on dea. 11. Vesting in case of minor life: If e policy has been taken on e life of a minor, e policy shall automatically vest on him/her wi effect from e date of completion of 18 years of age and e Life Insured will become e Policyholder from such date. 12. In case ere is no nomination effected in e policy or in case e nominee dies during e term, e benefit payout will be made to e legal heir(s). 13. Nomination & Assignment: Nomination will be allowed under e plan as per e provisions of Section 39 of e Insurance Act, 1938 as amended from time to time. Assignment will be allowed in e plan as per e provisions of Section 38 of e Insurance Act, 1938 as amended from time to time. 14. Free Look Period: The policyholder is offered 15 days free look period for a policy sold rough all channels (except for Distance Marketing* Channel which will have 30 Days) from e date of receipt of e policy wherein e policyholder may choose to return e policy wiin 15 days / 30 days of receipt if s/he is not agreeable wi any of e terms and conditions of e plan. Should s/he choose to return e policy, s/he shall be entitled to a refund of e premium paid after adjustment for e expenses of medical examination, stamp duty and proportionate risk premium for e period of cover. *Distance Marketing includes every activity of solicitation (including lead generation) and sale of insurance products rough e following modes: (i) Voice mode, which includes telephone calling (ii) Short Messaging service (SMS) (iii) Electronic mode which includes email, internet and interactive television (DTH) (iv) Physical mode which includes direct postal mail and newspaper & magazine inserts and (v) Solicitation rough any means of communication oer an in person. 8
9 15. General Exclusion: In e event of e life insured committing suicide wiin one year of e date of issue of e policy, 80% of e premiums paid will be payable. In case of suicide wiin one year of e date of revival of e policy when e revival is done wiin 6 mons from e date of first unpaid premium, Suicide Exclusion shall not be applicable and e Dea Benefit under e plan shall be payable. However, in case of suicide wiin 1 year of e date of revival, when e revival is done after 6 mons from e date of first unpaid premium, e benefit payable shall be higher of 80% of Premiums Paid or Surrender Value at e date of claim event.
Extract of Section 41 of e Insurance Act, 1938 as amended from time to time states: (1) No person shall allow or offer to allow, eier directly or indirectly, as an inducement to any person to take or renew or continue an insurance in respect of any kind of risk relating to lives or property in India, any rebate of e whole or part of e commission payable or any rebate of e premium shown on e policy, nor shall any person taking out or renewing or continuing a policy accept any rebate, except such rebate as may be allowed in accordance wi e published prospectuses or tables of e insurer. (2) Any person making default in complying wi e provisions of is section shall be liable for a penalty which may extend to ten lakh rupees.
