This indicates that the high-gindex firms that are more protected by antitakeover provisions are predicted to lower their cash holdings in response to heightened macroeconomic uncertainty. As stated above, there is evidence that these firms enjoy lower borrowing rates, as creditors prefer them to firms that are more susceptible to takeovers.
