Position Description 4-H Program & General Office Support Extension in Dodge County (35 hours/week Dodge County Benefit Package) 1206 West 23 rd Street, Fremont, Nebraska 68025 Primary Responsibilities: Education Support Staff for Nebraska Extension in Dodge County will perform a variety of duties including, 4-H programming support, shared receptionist responsibilities, webpage development and maintenance, database management, youth education assistance, teach life skill education to youth in non-traditional settings, scheduling and coordinating educational events, administrative support to Educators (primarily 4-H/youth), maintain 4-H publications files/publications, and supervising temporary and part- time employees as assigned. Occasional light lifting of computer equipment and supplies is required. Providing leadership for 4-H club support is an integral part of this position. Will provide back-up to other Extension Support Staff as required and perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements: An Associate Degree with emphasis in office management, youth education, customer service, or other closely related field. Years of experience may substitute for degree. Proficiencies in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point and Outlook. Operating knowledge of audiovisual equipment including video projectors, postage meters, calculators, copy machines, FAX machine, printers, public address systems, PC computers and tablets. Personal and Customer Service Skill Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Excellent organizational skills and time management techniques are essential. A pleasant telephone voice, people skills and a positive customer service attitude are required. Individual must understand continuing education role of Nebraska Extension, and be a proactive problem solver. A self-starter who can work independently and as a member of a change-oriented team is essential. This job entails meeting the public in person, via phone, e-mail and web-based communication; providing great customer service; office organization and management, facility and equipment coordination; disseminating a variety of educational materials; managing daily correspondence and producing press releases. Skills in website design and management are preferred. This position may require additional evening and weekend hours especially during the Dodge County Fair. Office Overview: The Dodge County Extension Staff is a proactive, change-oriented team working in the broad educational fields of youth development, leadership development, volunteer management, human health and nutrition, community development, farm management, agricultural production, residential horticulture, and environmental management. The staff consists of six Extension Educators, and three Extension Assistants, two Education Support Staff, and numerous volunteers working with horticulture and 4-H subject matter. Educators plan and conduct educational programming in the above stated areas. Methods of providing education range from farm visits and on-farm research to classroom presentations, tours, office calls and demonstrations. The staff works closely with commodity groups, community committees, numerous state and county agencies, and University of Nebraska administrators, faculty, and staff. The educational support staff assists the educators with developing, producing and obtaining materials needed for providing outstanding educational opportunities for our customers. DODGE COUNTY BENEFITS/WITHHOLDINGS **MANDATORY** FEDERAL TAX: All wages are subject to Federal Taxes. The amount withheld will depend on your number of dependents and the tax brackets. The rate is 7.65% COUNTY RETIREMENT SYSTEM: Full-time employees (30 hours or more per week) and permanent part-time employees (20 hours or more per week) will immediately be enrolled in the County Retirement System. 4.5% of the gross wages will be deducted from your check with the County matching this amount at a rate of 1.5 times. Since 1985, all member contributions are tax-deferred. This means Federal and State Taxes will be figured on your gross minus your retirement contribution. The only way to receive the County s share of the retirement is if you die, become disabled, attain the age of 55 before terminating or quit when you are fully vested. This is the only exception to the above.** Dodge County also offers a Deferred Compensation Plan. You may defer an elected amount from your compensations, the minimum being $25.00 per month. The maximum you can defer and contribute to DCP is the lesser of 100% of your annual compensation less mandatory retirement contributions or an annual dollar limit established under the Internal Revenue Code. If you are under 50 years of age the limit is $18,000.00 Over 50 years of age the limit is $24,000.00. This amount is adjusted for inflation every year by the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. WORKERS COMPENSATION: All employees are covered by Workers Compensation for injuries occurring while at work. State statutes set all guidelines of coverage and benefits and benefits are fully funded by the County. UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE: All employees, with the exception of elected officials, are covered by Unemployment Insurance. All guidelines of coverage and benefits are set by state statutes and benefits are fully funded by the County. **VOLUNTARY DEDUCTIONS**: All are employee paid with the exception that the County pays a percentage of Health Insurance and Dental Insurance.

HEALTH INSURANCE: Dodge County s health insurance coverage is through United Health Care. For any full-time employee, Dodge County pays for single coverage. Dodge County offers both a PPO plan and an H. S. A. plan. See attached for details of rates and benefit. The PPO plan also has a prescription card. Changes in coverage may occur during the year due to dependents and marital status. Dental can only be changed in the anniversary month of July. Changes must be done within 31 days of qualifying event. For those electing H.S.A. coverage, the County will contribute into their personal H. S. A. account, the difference between the premium cost for PPO and H.S.A. LIFE INSURANCE: All full time and permanent part time employees of 30 hours or more per week will automatically receive a $10,000 life insurance policy while employed by Dodge County. There is also additional voluntary life insurance available for the employee to purchase. CREDIT UNION: The County offers a deduction for membership in the Nebraska State Employees Credit Union. The Credit Union offers a savings plan and installment loan program and other benefits. Contributions may be any amount and there is no waiting period to join. You must open the account with an initial $25.00 deposit paid directly to the Credit Union which is located in Lincoln, Nebraska. YMCA MEMBERSHIP: The County offers Fremont YMCA memberships through payroll deduction. See application for rates. SECTION 125 TAX REDUCTION PLAN: Since April 1988, employees may participate in a Section 125 plan. In essence, you reduce your salary and pay for childcare, medical/dental/vision costs, or medical premiums with the reduction. This reduces Federal, State and FICA taxes. The plan year runs from January 1 to December 31. Once you choose the amount to be withheld it cannot be changed during the plan year unless there is a qualifying event, i.e., change in marital status, number of dependents or change in spouse s employment.
