De Winton Community Newsletter OCTOBER 2011 NEWS & EVENTS IN THE DEWINTON COMMUNITY WWW.DEWINTONCA.COM ISSUE 7 De Winton Casino Report As a registered non-profit society, the De Winton Community Association is eligible to participate in the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission Casino program. This program provides Societies the opportunity to share in the proceeds of gaming revenues from licensed Casino s. The Casino program, in exchange for 2 days of providing volunteers, provides DCA with a share of the gaming proceeds for use in the improvement and maintenance of the facility. These events come around only once every 30 months or so, but do provide many thousands of dollars of funding to our Community Association. Come out and join your Board of Directors for an informative evening of the status of DCA, and plans for the next fiscal year. Members in good standing of the De Winton Community Association will be asked to approve the Annual Financial Statement, as well as vote on the nomination of new Directors for the Board. We are excited about some new projects in the planning stages for the Hall, and would welcome your input. And as always, we are looking for interested Members to join our current Board of Directors.. DCA Family Halloween Party & Haunted House - October 29 Join us for costumes, crafts, hot dogs, treats and fun for everyone on Saturday, October 29, 5:00 pm till 10:00 pm at the De Winton Hall. Hosted by Sherry Shoults Tickets are $15/family for DCA members and $20/family for guests. Please call Sherry at 403-995-4566 to confirm attendance. De Winton Membership Dance Saturday November 19 Come and join us for our annual Membership Dance. The DJ will get the music going, the cooks will be a cookin, and the bar will be stocked. The community will supply the beef and beans. Please bring vegetables, a salad or a desert item for the Pot Luck. Doors open at 7 pm. Free to renewing or new Members with their annual $15 membership fee (a Membership Table will be set-up). Guests are $10.00. Want to advertise your business? Christmas Craft Fair Saturday, November 26, 10am - 4 pm Each season the De Winton Hall is transformed into a Holiday wonderland. To provide local crafters and vendors in the community and trade area an opportunity to display their wares, the Christmas Craft Fair is a great opportunity to see community members, do some Christmas shopping, and enjoy some outstanding entertainment with live music. There is a wide range of gifts, crafts and goodies on sale, so bring some Christmas cash, and join for this festive event.

De Winton Preschool Program A few spots remain available in the De Winton Pre School program. Sessions are morning or afternoon. The 4 yearold classes are Tuesday and Thursday, with the 3 year-olds on Monday and Wednesday. For information contact Pre School Director Tammy Gurr at 403-669-1425. De Winton Hall Activities In addition to special events sponsored by your Community Association, the Hall hosts regular group and club activities. Monday night is Yoga night, Wednesday during the day in Q Bee Quilting, and also on Tuesday evenings is our Bridge group. These activities are open for enrollment to all De Winton Community Association Members. It is sent to all De Winton Community Association members (more than 200), subscribers through the DCA website sign-up contact, the DCA customer list of facility users, and is also displayed and available for pick-up at the De Winton Community Hall, the De Winton General Store and other area locations. We publish in both color and black and white and distribute via email and hardcopy mail out. Package 2 Advertisers who commit to a 1/8 page or business card ad for all 3 yearly issues will become a Featured DCA Sponsor on the DCA home page for one month. Their ad will then move to our Partners Page on the DCA website. In addition, a special full page E Mail Broadcast Profile on your business will be sent out to all electronic subscribers. Website Advertising The De Winton Community Association has an opportunity for a Banner Advertisement on our website. Featured prominently at the top of the DCA Homepage, this is a prime placement. This special opportunity will see your banner ad placed for a full 6 month period, at a cost of $500.00, including all creative costs. Ad Creation Rates Size Rate Half Page $75 Quarter Page $50 Business Card $25 Advertising Policy DCA reserves the right to refuse any advertising not consistent with our mission. Advertisers and their agencies are entirely liable for the content of their advertising and responsible for any claims. Advertising placement is determined by editorial layout, unless a position is guaranteed by a contract. Publisher may revise rates at any time with 60 days notice. Cancellations must be received no later than the ad deadline.
