Why choose insurance as a career? Tysers vision for graduates Insurance is at the heart of the global economy and the UK insurance industry is the third largest in the world. It is an essential part of the UK s economic strength, managing investments accounting for 25% of the UK s net worth, contributing nearly 12 billion in tax revenue* and employing over 320,000 people. Without it, the world would look very different. There are a huge variety of risks covered by the insurance industry from cars and houses to ships, planes and satellites. Kidnap and ransom cover is required by those working in the world s trouble spots, oil pipelines need terrorism cover and events such as the Olympic Games and music festivals could not take place without insurance. The insurance industry as a whole actively encourages personal development, often subsidising professional qualifications. Opportunities are available to all, regardless of your background. The aim of the Tysers Graduate Programme is to grow our own talent by developing bright, articulate and motivated individuals, whilst providing them with an opportunity to gain a solid understanding of all aspects of Tysers business and its strategic goals. The rotational programme will enable you to spend your placements in different areas of the business giving you the knowledge to help you choose an area of specialism. You will be working alongside some of the industry s leading experts and you will be fully supported as you study to achieve your insurance qualification. The success of Tysers and our employees goes hand in hand. You are our future business leaders; a pool of talent with a sound understanding of our business. So we will ensure that you have the skills you need to perform to the best of your abilities. *Association of British Insurers 2015

What our Graduates say: Anna Gregory I joined the Graduate Scheme in 2011 on a rotation programme. After 6 weeks I was given the opportunity to join the terrorism and political violence team on a permanent basis. This allowed me to specialise in a growing market early on in my career and to start developing our client relationships. Since then I have travelled to Dubai, Bangkok, Guatemala, India, Singapore, and several other Asia Pacific countries in order to create new business opportunities and understand our clients requirements on a more personal level. In this time I have also studied and become ACII qualified. Henry Spratt The time I spent on the Tysers graduate programme served as a unique and insightful introduction into the different insurance classes of business. The variety of work on the programme has helped to shape my overall knowledge of the London Insurance market from an operational to a global perspective. Working alongside the various industry practitioners at Tysers has been an invaluable experience and an opportunity that has supported my understanding of the industry, whilst providing me with the grounding to personally develop within it. Since completing the graduate programme I have worked with a number of different clients across various lines of business and I ve had the opportunity to travel to meet with new and existing clients in North America. Rose MacLachlan Although I have only spent 7 on the Tysers grad scheme it has so far been an invaluable experience. Tysers isn t a large company, but as a result I have had the chance to meet and learn from people from all areas, taking with me experience that will aid me as I advance through my career. The rotations so far have been important for my development within Insurance, allowing me to get involved in a variety of business and progress personally. Tysers has made me feel instantly welcome and part of the company and I look forward to the knowledge and experiences that I will take with me as a move round the company.
