GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS ONSLOW COUNTY FARM BUREAU GENERAL RULES 1. AGE: Exhibitors must be 21 years of age or under as of January 1, 2018 and enrolled in public school, home school, a junior college, or a four year college to participate. Exhibitors must be a minimum of 5 years old to show heifers as of January 1, 2018. 2. A wavier must be signed by the exhibitor, their parent or guardian, and sent with entry sheet to Patricia (PJ) Edwards. Without this waiver the exhibitor cannot participate in the 2018 4-H Livestock Showdown. One waiver per exhibitor is needed, wavier is included in this entry packet. 3. Exhibitors assume liability for their animals in case of sickness, death, or injury. 4. All animals must be weighed. No animals will be accepted for weigh-in after 10 am. 5. Due to the risk of foreign animal disease, any exhibitor, or any exhibitors whose family member or visitor to the farm, has traveled internationally during the 14 days prior to animal check-in, should voluntarily withdraw their animals from the show and not attend. 6. There must be a minimum of 10 head per species to have the show. By March 16, 2018 if there are not enough to show for that species we will cancel the class. Exhibitors will be notified and class money will be refunded. The following age brackets are represented in the Show. See CLASSES AND PRIZES for details on awards. Novice 5-8 years old on January 1 Junior 9-12 years old on January 1 Intermediate 13-16 years old on January 1 Senior 17-21 years old on January 1 CHAMPION PRIZES ALL CLASSES *Will include show supplies from various donors.

CLASSES, RULES, AND PRIZES BEEF CATTLE Classes will be determined by breed. In the event we do not have enough registered for theses classes, we will show by age. THIS INCLUDES HEIFER, COW/CALF. BEEF RULES 1. All cattle must be identified by a numbered identification, either an ear tag or tattoo. 2. All cattle are to be halter broken. Unruly animals which may endanger the safety of exhibitors will be asked to leave. 3. Exhibitors do not need to own the animals; however, NC State Fair rules apply regarding training of heifers. 4. If an exhibitor has more than one animal in a class, the second animal must be shown by a junior exhibitor. 5. All cattle will show by breed, UNLESS due to participation, classes will be determined by age. LAMBS First and second place lambs from each class will compete for Grand Champion or Reserve Champion. LAMB RULES 1. Scrapie tags must be in the ear of all lambs on the premises, no exceptions. 2. Exhibitors may show two market lambs; however, if both animals are in the same class, the second lamb must be shown by a junior exhibitor. 3. Classes will be determined by weight and number of entries. 4. Market lambs may not weigh more than 145 lbs. 5. Rams are not allowed.

KIDS Market classes will be based on weight. First and second place kids from each class will compete for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. GOAT RULES 1. Scrapie tags must be in the ear of all goats on the premises, no exceptions. 2. Exhibitors may show 2 Doe Kids and 2 Market Kids. If both animals are in the same class, the second animal must be shown by a junior exhibitor. 3. Kids must be under one year old the day of the show, have all baby teeth the day of the show, and horn tips must be dulled and/or blunt. 4. Bucks are not allowed. 5. Market classes will be determined by weight and number of entries. Animals must be less than one year old the day of the show. Committee members and judge reserve the right to mouth any animal suspected of being too old. 6. All Does will be shown like commercial, by weight. Animals must be less than one year old the day of the show. Committee members and judge reserve the right to mouth any animal suspected of being too old. 7. If an exhibitor shows a Doe in the Doe Show, the same Doe is not eligible for the Market Kid Show. Otherwise, Does may show in the Market Kid Show.

WAIVER OF LIABLILITY FOR THE ONSLOW COUNTY FARM BUREAU TO BE SIGNED BY EACH PARTICIPANT I am the parent/guardian of the minor child named below ( the Participant ) and am fully competent to sign this agreement. I understand that the Participant s request to participate in the has been approved. I understand that the activity involves various physical activities, including, but not limited to, contact with animals, and that there is a risk of injury associated with such activities. I understand the nature of the activity and my child s participation therein: I have explained these things to the Participant and his/her participation is both willing and voluntary. In addition, the Participant has adequate health insurance necessary to provide for and pay any medical costs that may arise as a result of injury to the Participant. In consideration of the Participant s being permitted to take part in the 2018 4-H LIVESTOCK SHOWDOWN, the Participant and I assume all risks of such participation, such risks including but not limited to: (a) accidents and/or collisions with fixed or moving objects, animals or persons; (b) hazards caused by equipment failure; and (c) hazards caused by inadequate safety equipment. I further agree that neither Onslow County Farm Bureau, NCSU nor its employees, trustees officers or agents shall be liable for any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or in any way connected with the Participant s participation in the activity, specifically including, but not limited to liabilities, claims, demands, actions or causes of action relating to bodily injury (including death) and the property damage suffered by the Participant. Therefore, on behalf of the Participant, the parents/guardians of the Participant, and their heirs and assigns of all the foregoing, I do hereby forever release and discharge Onslow County Farm Bureau and NCSU, as well as its employees, trustees officers or agents from all such liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action. With the activities having been explained to me, and all of my questions answered to my complete satisfaction, I consent to the Participant s participation in the Show and Sale and accept the facilities, premises, supervision and equipment used in connection therewith, fully aware of the activities and risks that may be involved. I execute this consideration fully intending for myself, for the Participant, and for the Participant s family, estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns to be bound by the same.
