We the members f the Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Students Activities Cuncil, in rder t frm a mre harmnius schl envirnment and t ensure equality and bjectivity in all Students Activities Cuncil actins, establish this Cnstitutin fr the students f Turner Fentn Secndary Schl. Article I: The Gverning Bdy Sectin I: Name f the Gverning Bdy The name f the Student Gverning Bdy at Turner Fentn Secndary Schl shall be knwn as the Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Students Activities Cuncil. Sectin II: Purpse f the Students Activities Cuncil 1. The purpse f the Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Students Activities Cuncil is t rganize student wide activities that will lead t the betterment f the schl cmmunity. 2. T prmte and encurage participatin f the entire student bdy in activities theref. 3. T create pride and enthusiasm amng students thrughut the schl year. 4. T wrk in the best interest f the staff, administratin and student bdy f the schl. 5. T prvide students with the pprtunity t becme actively invlved nt nly within the schl but als within the cmmunity at large. 6. T crdinate all fundraising activities within the schl and t versee the distributin f all funds acquired. 7. T cllect $25.00 student fee frm each Turner Fentn Secndary Schl student at the start f the academic year. 8. T act as a liaisn between the students and the Administrative bdy f the schl. 9. Distribute the Student Activities Cuncil funds t best meet needs f Turner Fentn Secndary Schl students. Article II: Requirements fr Obtaining a Psitin within the Students Activities Cuncil All students that desire t becme a member f the Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Students Activities Cuncil must display the fllwing: 1. Each student must maintain a cnsistent attendance recrd. 2. Each student must demnstrate ptential fr strng academic perfrmance. 3. Each student must btain recmmendatins frm all eight f their current year s teachers. (Fr thse students with a spare, a teacher reference frm the previus schl year is acceptable) 4. The President and Vice President must pssess a minimum average f 70 percent 5. All ther members must pssess a minimum average f 60 percent. 6. Only senir students may be elected t the psitin f President and Vice President. Article III: Psitins and Respnsibilities f the Students Activities Cuncil and its Members Sectin I: General respnsibilities f members f the Students Activities Cuncil 1. T attend all meetings. 2. T cmplete all tasks designated t him/her by the President. 3. T attend all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. 4. T address all issues f the student bdy. 5. T attend events rganized by ther students within the schl. 2

Sectin II: Psitins and Respnsibilities f each member (listed in rder f authrity) The President: T preside ver all meetings f the cuncil. T prvide a typed agenda three days prir t the weekly Students Activities Cuncil meeting. (See Appendix A) 1. Which must include time fr each Chair t review events relating t their rle that ccurred in the previus week 2. Which must review previus week s takeaways T design a tentative year plan fr the members f the Students Activities Cuncil and the Administrative bdy, t be cmpleted by the secnd week f September. T discuss the results f weekly meetings with the Administrative representative. T prvide and updated calendar f events t the Administrative bdy n the last Friday f each mnth (as prvided by the CCO). The president is bestwed with the right t vet all Students Activities Cuncil decisins prvided that the signatures f the Teacher Spnsrs and Administrative Representative have been acquired n the vet frm. T ensure that all designated members f the Students Activities Cuncil have cmpleted tasks. T prmte all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. The Vice - President: T fulfill the rle f President if they are nt present T assist the President in fulfilling their duties T design a tentative year plan fr the members f the Students Activities Cuncil and the Administrative bdy with the President T discuss the results f weekly meetings with the Administrative representative with the President T prvide and updated calendar f events t the Administrative bdy n the last Friday f each mnth (as prvided by the CCO). T ensure that all designated members f the Students Activities Cuncil have cmpleted tasks. T prmte all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil Chief Financial Officer (CFO) T maintain a clear and accurate recrd f all financial expenditures f the Students Activities Cuncil. T distribute finances t the varius rganizatins within the schl. T purchase all materials that are needed fr events, which are rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. T prvide members f the Students Activities Cuncil with a mnthly written reprt regarding the financial status f the Cuncil. T present an updated financial reprt at each weekly Students Activity Cuncil meeting. T prmte all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. T cunt all mneys cllected n any and all sale days where applicable T keep accurate recrds f all cashless sales fr all Student Activities Cuncil events 3

Chief Technical Officer (CTO) T ensure the SAC page n the schl website is up t date T uplad and manage all SAC frms and ther dcuments T keep a recrd f all the executive f majr clubs/cuncils t ensure Article VIII is enfrced T be aware f all the equipment and persnnel necessary t technically supprt an event. T ensure that equipment is ready t use and available when required fr an SAC event T infrm administratin and the custdial staff f any changes that need t be made t a rm r lcatin t supprt ur technical needs during an event T ensure that equipment is maintained and cmmunicate with administratin ver brken parts r additinal equipment T ensure that all equipment utilized by SAC is returned t its prper place T develp a small team f students in the schl that will help yu supprt technical events in the schl nt just fr SAC but als ther clubs and rganizatins T prmte all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. Chief Activities Officer (CAO) Act as a liaisn between Clubs and the Students Activities Cuncil by cnducting preliminary screening f the Students Activities Cuncil Event Frm and Club Registratin Frms that are submitted at the cmmencement f each semester. T succeed any member f the cuncil n all ccasins f resignatin r terminatin. Present Event Frms and prpsals t the Students Activities Cuncil. Organize mnthly Club head meetings discussing the Students Activities Cuncil mnth plans and available dates. T gather vlunteers fr all activities cnducted by the Students Activities Cuncil. T prvide all entertainment used during activities. T serve as a liaisn between the Students Activities Cuncil and all grups assciated with events theref. T prvide the student bdy with a weekly recrd f all events within the schl. T prmte all events rganized by the Students Activities Cuncil. Hld mnthly meetings f club heads t discuss upcming events Chief Cmmunicatins Officer (CCO) T prvide the President with a cmprehensive list f items t be added t the Agenda fr each Students Activities Cuncil meeting. There must be tw Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Staff advisrs. 5

Sectin IV: Pwer f the Students Activities Cuncil The Students Activities Cuncil is bestwed with the right t: 1. Authrize r vet the establishment f clubs within the schl. 2. Authrize r vet events prpsed by the varius rganizatins within the schl. 3. Prpse Amendments t the Cnstitutin. 4. Set restrictins n the distributin f all funds accumulated within the schl. 5. Determine the distributin f Students Activities Cuncil finances t the varius clubs and ther schl events. 6. Refuse t prvide clubs with financial assistance n the basis f valid reasning. Sectin V: Pwer f the Administrative Bdy The Administrative Bdy is bestwed the right t: 1. Vet all decisins made by the Students Activities Cuncil. 2. Impeach a member f the cuncil n the basis f pr academic perfrmance. Sectin VI: Cnsequences f Failing t Fulfill Respnsibilities t the Cuncil A member f the Students Activities Cuncil may be impeached n the fllwing basis: 1. Failure t maintain a punctual attendance at meetings scheduled by the Students Activities Cuncil. 2. Failure t maintain punctual attendance in all classes. 3. Failure t cmplete all designated tasks. 4. Failure t meet the grade pint average. 5. Plagiarism r a vilatin f the student cde f cnduct. Article IV: Students Activities Cuncil Meetings Sectin I: Meetings 1. Weekly meetings will be scheduled by members f the Cuncil. The President shall authrize any special meetings. 2. A minimum f ne teacher advisr must be present befre a meeting shall cmmence. 3. All members are required t be in attendance during all meetings Scheduled by the Students Activities Cuncil. 4. All decisins made by the cuncil will be decided thrugh the use f a qurum (50% +1) 5. All members f the cuncil must be prvided with an agenda regarding the prceeding n the meeting. 6

Article V: Schl Events Sectin I: Clubs and Other Student Cmmittee Initiatives Clause I: Registratin 1. At the beginning f the schl year, all clubs must cmplete a Students Activities Cuncil Club Registratin Frm. (See Appendix B) A supplementary page detailing the Club s purpse/mandate must be attached t the Students Activities Cuncil Club Registratin Frm. 2. All clubs requesting funds must submit a cash flw statement (available in the Nrth Hall ffice frm Ms. Cnn) indicating hw funds have been spent previusly and what balance remains frm previus years. 3. All Clubs/Cmmittees must btain the supprt f at least ne Turner Fentn teacher advisr. 4. N Club/Cmmittee is allwed t rganize any events r hld meetings until authrized by the Students Activities Cuncil. 5. New clubs may nly be established within the first mnth f each semester. 6. The Students Activities Cuncil will authrize n religius Clubs/Cmmittees. 7. Cmmittees are nt required t cmplete the Club Registratin Frm. 8. All student members participating in the club must prvide valid prf f the Student Activities Cuncil fee paid. Clause II: Scheduling events 1. In rder t schedule an event all clubs must submit a Students Activities Cuncil event frm, a minimum f tw weeks prir t the event. (See Appendix C) 2. Clubs/Cmmittees must always cnsult the Students Activities befre appraching the Administratin regarding events. 3. The teacher advisr and the Club/Cmmittee head(s) must submit a detailed prpsal f their event t the SAC mailbx prir t each weekly meeting (and a minimum f 2 weeks prir t the scheduled/prpsed event). 4. Clubs that are delegated t the Athletics r Arts, will submit event frms t thse respective cuncils. 5. Guest speakers must be pre-apprved by the administratin befre an event frm is submitted. 6. An event is authrized nce the signature f the President, teacher advisr and the Administrative liaisn has been btained. 7. Once the event has been apprved it is the respnsibility f the teacher advisr(s) and club head(s) t ensure all necessary prtcls are fllwed. Clause III: Initial Request fr Financial Assistance 1. All Clubs/Cmmittees requiring financial assistance must submit an accurate list detailing which members have paid the Student Activities Fee. (See Appendix D) 2. All Clubs/Cmmittees requesting financial assistance must have a registered accunt with the schl. 3. Funding will be prvided after the club is apprved by the Students Activities Cuncil. 4. All Clubs must prvide a cash flw statement t the Chief Financial Officer f the Students Activities Cuncil. 5. Cmmittees that are nt affiliated with Clubs within the schl d nt have t prvide a Cash Flw Statement. 6. The Students Activities Cuncil will nt prvide funding fr any Clubs supprting rganizatins, which are independent f the schl. 7

7. It is the duty f each Club/Cmmittee head(s) and/r teacher advisr(s) t mnitr their accunt in rder t determine when funding has been prvided by the Students Activities Cuncil. 8. If a prblem regarding the transfer f finances ccurs, the club head(s) must speak directly with the Students Activities Cuncil Chief Financial Officer, as ppsed t the administratin. 9. The allcatin f funding will be determined by the fllwing criteria: 1. The number f students that are enrlled in the club. 2. The intended purpse f funds prvided. 3. If the club is pre-existing, the funding will be determined by utilizatin in previus years. 4. Club demnstrates willingness t self subsidize financial needs. 5. Club demnstrates ptential t cnduct events, which will be beneficial t the entire student bdy. Clause IV: Subsequent requests fr financial assistance 1. All subsequent requests fr financial assistance must be submitted in the frm f a prpsal. 2. A current cash flw statement must be prvided. 3. A detailed prpsal utlining the intended purpse f the funding must be submitted t the Treasurer f the Students Activities Cuncil at least tw weeks prir t when the funding is needed. 4. Schl wide events will be subsidized by the Students Activities Cuncil accrding t the fllwing criteria: If a Club/Cmmittee prpses t cver 50% f the event csts, the Students Activities Cuncil will subsidize the remaining 50% f the financial expenditures. If the Club/Cmmittee is unable t prduce 50% f the event cst immediately, the Students Activities Cuncil will grant a lan cvering all event csts. The Club/Cmmittee must hwever, repay the lan in its entirety. Any unpaid lans will carry ver t subsequent schl years. N funding will be prvided until the lan is paid in its entirety. Article VI: Cuncil Replacement Sectin I: Electin Prcess 1. The Students Activities Cuncil electins will be cnducted n a yearly basis t replace the preceding cuncil. 2. Electins will be held at the end f each schl year prir t final examinatins. 3. The nly psitin nt be replaced by the electin prcess is the Chief Spirit Officer. (This will be a delegated psitin chsen by the SAC advisrs.) Clause I: Cnditins fr entering Students Activities Cuncil electins 1. Candidates must fulfill the requirements fr becming a member f the cuncil as stated in Article II. 2. Candidates must recgnize that upn entering the electin, the runner up f a respective psitin may be required t replace members f the Students Activities Cuncil that resign. Clause I: Registratin 1. All candidates must submit the electin frm t the Students Activities Cuncil by the required deadline. 2. The Students Activities Cuncil will present all electin frms t the Administratin fr apprval. 3. The Students Activities Cuncil will ntify all candidates that fulfill the requirements detailed in Article II may prceed in the electin prcess. 8

Clause II: Campaigning 1. Upn ntificatin frm the Students Activities Cuncil f apprval, the candidates will have the pprtunity t campaign fr their respective psitins. 2. Candidates are limited t twenty 8 x 11 psters, and tw Bristl bard psters. 3. All psters must be taped with lw adhesive tape and cannt be placed n any glass surface. 4. An Administrative authrity must sign all psters. 5. All campaigning must end by twelve p.m. ne day prir t the electin date. 6. All psters must be dwn by three p.m. the day f the electin Clause III: Speeches 1. Candidates must prvide the Administratin and Teacher spnsrs an exact replica f the speech t be presented t the Student Bdy fr apprval. 2. Mdificatins may be made t the submitted speech by the Administratin. In this event the candidate must resubmit the mdified cpy f the speech. 3. Deviatin frm submitted speech will result in the disqualificatin f the Candidate. Clause IV: Vting Prcess 1. The student bdy will have the pprtunity t vte during the first perid f the day f the electins. 2. All graduating students are ineligible t vte. 3. The utging President and a cmmittee f chsen students will cunt ballts unless ne r mre is running fr re-electin. In this event, the Staff Advisrs will appint substitutin frm the utging Student Activities Cuncil. 4. If a member f the current cuncil is running fr re-electin they are prhibited frm participating in the tallying f the vtes. Sectin II: Disqualificatin f Candidates Candidates will be disqualified accrding t the fllwing criteria: 1. Failure t meet requirements utlined in Article 2. 2. Misrepresentatin f their fellw candidates in their campaign r speech. 3. The use f wrds with negative cnntatins during the campaign r speech. 4. Failure t respect the Turner Fentn Secndary Schl Cde f Cnduct thrughut the entirety f the electin prcess. Sectin III: Replacement f a current member f the Students Activities Cuncil Clause 1: Resignatins during the first semester If a member f the Students Activities Cuncil resigns during the first semester f the schl year, the fllwing prcess shuld be fllwed t find a suitable replacement fr this individual: 1. The runner up fr the required psitin will be designated t replace the resigned member f the Students Activities Cuncil. 2. The runner up must be chsen accrding t the number f vtes btained during the May electin prcess. Clause 2: Resigning during the secnd semester If a member f the Students Activities Cuncil resigns during the secnd semester f the schl year, the fllwing prcess shuld be fllwed t find a suitable replacement fr this individual 1. Cuncil will designate a student t fulfill the psitin based n the students interest and invlvement in schl activities and academics 9

Article VII: Amendments t the Cnstitutin Amendments t the Cnstitutin may be made accrding t the fllwing prcess: 1. The amendment must be supprted by a ¾ majrity f the Students Activities Cuncil. 2. All Teacher Advisrs f the Students Activities Cuncil must apprve prpsed amendments. 3. The Principal and all standing Vice Principals must ratify the amendments t the Cnstitutin. Article IX: General Cuncil Sectin I: Structure and Purpse 1. Cmpsed f 16 students (fur students per grade) wh will assist in the planning, prmting and executing f SAC events thrughut the schl year. 2. Tasks that the general cuncil may be assigned include brainstrming event names, creating psters, selling tickets and vlunteering during the event. 3. Cmmunicatin between the SAC executives and general cuncil will be mainly dne thrugh the CCO. 4. There must be a minimum f ne general cuncil meeting per mnth. Sectin II: Selectin Prcess 1. All prspective candidates will be expected t fill ut an applicatin frm cnsisting f shrt questins and a teacher reference. 2. All candidates must have a cnsistent attendance recrd and a minimum average f 60%. 10
