Archaeology and the Science of Skeletons Legacy Summer Camp 2018 During this week-long (Monday- Friday) summer camp, children will participate in indoor and outdoor activities while learning how archaeologists use skeletons to uncover the human past! The camp will be held at the Center for Archaeological Research located on UTSA s 1604 Campus and is staffed by the Center s archaeologists. Camps are open to children ages 9-13. Camp Dates: Camp 1: June 25 th 29 th Camp 2: July 9 th 13 th PAGE 1 Camp 3: July 23 rd 27 th Camp 4: Aug 6 th 10 th Note: We highly discourage registering for more than one camp, as each camp is the same information **Curriculum is specifically designed for ages indicated** Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. -Before and After care is provided. Campers can be signed in as early as 7:30 a.m. and signed out no later than 5:30 p.m. - On the Friday of camp, at 3:00 pm, we offer an open house for camp parents and family members to visit with campers. During the open house campers have a chance to teach their parents how to throw spears using an Atl-atl and tour our education room. A parking pass will be provided upon pick up Thursday to be used for the Friday open house. Location: UTSA s Center for Archaeological Research, 1604 Campus A map with written directions will be provided upon confirmation of registration Cost: Non-UTSA Employee: $265 Current UTSA Employee or Student: $245 Sibling Discount: $255/per sibling *Cost includes before and after-camp care, supplies, morning snack, and a camp T-shirt. Campers should bring a sack lunch.* Class Size: 16 students. Space is limited, so please register early. You will not be guaranteed a spot until the full payment and all registration forms are received. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 5 days of mailing registration, please call 210-458-4462 Cancellation Policy A full refund will be given on cancellations received 3 weeks prior to the start date of your camp session. A 50% refund will be given up to 2 weeks prior to the starting date. No refunds will be given for less than 2 weeks. We will gladly apply your fee to a different camp session if space permits. In consideration of Participant being permitted to participate in the Activity/Trip, I hereby accept all risk to Participant s health, including any injury or death to Participant that may result from such participation, which participation includes all travel associated with the Activity/Trip, and I hereby release UTSA, its governing board, officers, representatives, employees and agents from any and all liability to Participant, Participant s personal representatives, estate, heirs, next of kin, and assigns for any and all claims and causes of action for loss of or damage to Participant s property and for any and all illness or injury to Participant s person, including his or her death, that may arise from or occur during Participant s participation in the Activity/Trip, WHETHER CONTRIBUTED TO OR CAUSED BY ANY NEGLIGENCE OF UTSA, ITS GOVERNING BOARD, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES OR REPRESENTATIVES, OR OTHERWISE. Archaeology and the Science of Skeletons Summer Camp 2018 Camp Behavior Policies and Rules Good conduct is expected from all campers. Campers must remain respectful and polite towards other campers and to instructors/counselors. Cell phones are not allowed during camp hours, unless approved by the instructors/counselors. Parents if you need to contact your camper please call 210-458-4378. Electronic gadgets are not allowed during camp hours. Cell phones and electronic gadgets may be used ONLY during before and after care. These items must remain in the campers bag during camp hours (9:00am-4:00pm) Campers will not handle other camper s personal belongings without their permission. Campers who fail to comply with the camp policies and rules will be dismissed and will not receive a refund. Parent or Guardian must sign in and sign out camper each day of camp. A parking pass will not be needed for drop-off and pick-up during the week of camp. Camp starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. but campers may be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m. and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m. During before and after care, campers may read, complete archeology themed activity sheets, draw, or watch the provided movie. Campers are responsible for bringing her/his own a sack lunch, afternoon snack, and water every day to camp. (Morning snack is included in camp cost) I have read the above policies and will comply with the rules during camp.
