Misunderstanding - A.M. Best Rating Misunderstanding: The Insurance Board Program is not the insurance company. The primary carrier for the IB Program is Lexington Insurance Company, a member of the AIG Group of Companies, which carry an A.M. Best Rating of A (Excellent).

Functional Building Valuation (FBV) FBV is designed for churches that: Own larger, more ornate buildings, generally constructed pre-1945 Have a dwindling congregation size Are currently under-insured Do not have the financial resources to pay their premium
Functional Building Valuation (FBV) Features & Limitations Insured buildings would be replaced with smaller, cheaper buildings in the event of a total loss The difference between Replacement Cost and FBV of the subject building must be greater than 50% Must establish a scheduled value by building and contents no blanket limit In the event of a partial loss, less costly material will be used when calculating the cost to repair or replace damaged property, if available, in the same architectural style, plus the amount spent to demolish and clear the site of undamaged parts of the building Provision for Unintentional Underinsurance does not apply Additional coverage either limited or removed, including Business Income and Extra Expense; Increased Cost of Construction due to Ordinance or Law; and Upgrade to Green
Claim Examples Sexual Misconduct Former Youth Pastor Claim started in 2014 and remains open; $120,000 paid-to-date Alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15 year-old Occurred prior to the accused pastor s affiliation with the church Pastor s Credentials Revoked Inappropriate behavior with a child going back to 2004 Accused pastor threatened legal action against the Presbytery and demanded they cease any communication of their investigation findings Attorney hired to respond and deny the demands
Claim Examples - Crime Email Phishing Scam 2016; Kansas church; $20,000 While pastor was on vacation, the church s Financial Secretary received an email from the pastor s email account requesting a wire transfer Employee Theft 2016; Oklahoma church; $110,000 Admin. Assistant/Bookkeeper of 10 years was writing checks to herself and using the church s credit card for personal use Church confronted her in July but didn t report the claim until September
