1 Introduction to SESAM Web SESAM Web is Nord Pool Spot s web based solution for the Elspot market. From here, customers can easily enter and administer their orders as well as receive results for the day-ahead power market. Customers access SESAM Web by using a Digipass security token combined with a personal password. All customers receive one or more tokens associated to different user groups with different user rights. Please note: In order to ensure consistent wording in Nord Pool Spot s communication with the market, we have replaced the term bid/s with the term order/s in this document wherever text descriptions of SESAM functionalities are concerned. Hence, these two terms are used interchangeable in this guide due to the fact that SESAM navigation menus have not yet been adjusted to the new wording. 1.1 System requirements The SESAM Web system works on any normal workstation (e.g. Office PC) with an internet browser installed. Please note that the pop-up blocker in Explorer should be turned off. JavaScript should be turned on. 1.2 The users of SESAM Web The customers users receive Digipasses which give access to specific accounts. These accounts have trading rights or just viewing rights for one or several portfolios. A Trading and Clearing representative can also access other parties portfolios. 1.3 How the Digipass works The Digipass provided by Nord Pool Spot is manufactured by Vasco. The Digipass is a random key generator, and every password is a one-time password. When you use Digipass for the first time, you will be asked to define a four digit long pin code. This pin code needs to be provided each time a user wants to generate a passcode with the Digipass token in order to access SESAM Web. To generate a new passcode, press the arrow key, enter your pin code and a new one time passcode is generated. Page 4 3

NOT 1.4 Logging in Enter your Digipass username, e.g. Company X in the upper field. Then enter your Digipass key in the following empty field and click Login. A second window will appear where you enter your personal username and password, e.g. JOHNDO and johnpass in the empty fields. SESAM user guide Page 5 4

1.5 General functions in SESAM Web 1.5.1 SESAM Web help Clicking on the Help link opens the SESAM Web quick guide in a new window. There are also help icons marked. By clicking the icon, a short description of the specific functions on the current page is displayed. Logout when you want to end your session. 1.5.2 Log out Click Logout when you want to end your session. 1.5.3 SESAM time SESAM web shows Central European Time (CET) and is always visible when you navigate in SESAM Web. The deadline for submitting orders to SESAM is 12:00 CET. 1.5.4 Portfolio selection Before you start creating orders, you have to select which company you are bidding for by expanding the drop-down menu. Customers who only have one Party, Trading Account and Area, don t have to make these choices. 1. Select Party 2. Select which of the company s trading accounts you want to send orders for 3. Select bidding area 1.5.5 Bidding period All order types require that you select the bidding period. These are the days for which you want the order to be included in the calculation. This is always an integer number of whole days. In SESAM, a day is defined as starting at 00:00 the bidding day and ending at 00:00 the following day. E.g. 29 June is defined as shown below. Elspot prices are determined through auction trade for each delivery hour. The trading horizon is 12-36 hours ahead the next day 24 hour period. The System price and the area prices are calculated after all customer orders have been received before gate closure at 12:00 CET. 5

2 Single hourly orders For single hourly orders, a maximum of 64 different price steps per hour is possible and an order must at least have volume on the minimum and maximum price steps. Remember that positive values are purchase orders and negative values are sales orders. 2.1 Creating a single hourly order 1. Start creating your order by selecting BID Create single hourly bid. 2. Select the days for the order to be included in the calculation. This is always an integer number of whole days. 3. There are four different ways to create a single hourly bid: Enter values by copy-paste from Excel template. The Excel template is the recommended way to enter orders into SESAM Web. First click on the Download template link. Enter the volumes in the matrix and add price columns if needed. Then select the whole area and copy it, including time steps and prices. Finally, go to SESAM Web and click the -button. The bid is now imported into SESAM Web. This function is important if you have different price columns for different hours. Then you can copy-paste separate templates for separate hours. 6

Enter values by copy-paste from Excel without template. It is possible to add a single hourly order from Excel without using the predefined template. Select all 24 hours including the price row like shown below and copy the selected area by using CTRL+C. Go to SESAM Web and point your cursor in the spread sheet like shown below and paste values by using CTRL+V. Additional price columns can be added by pressing the - button and entering the new price step. A price level can be deleted by selecting the header of the price level and then by clicking the - button. 7

Enter values directly into SESAM Web. Enter the volumes in the spread sheet. By default, only the minimum and maximum prices level columns are visible. Additional price columns are added by pressing the - button and entering the new price step. A price level can be deleted by selecting the header of the price level and then by clicking the button. If you want to copy-paste columns from Excel without using the Excel-template, use CTRL+V. Enter values by using old orders, selecting Copy to New. First go to the Bid list and select the order you want to use as a template. By selecting Copy to new, a new order is created based on the old order. 4. When the orders are ready, click Send bid and the order is sent to SESAM. See 2.2 for other bid commands. The order is automatically saved to the Bid list. For more information on using the Bid list, see the separate section. 2.2 Single hourly bid commands Save bid Send bid To Bid list Clear bid table Add new bid Copy to new SESAM user guide Page 9 NOTES = Saves a bid and adds it to the Bid list but doesn t send it to SESAM = Sends the bid to SESAM and saves the bid to the Bid list for further modification = Shows the bid list where previously made bids are visible = Clears the work sheet = Creates a new bid = Creates a new bid based on the open bid 8

3 Block orders The minimum length of a block order is 3 hours and the maximum length of a block order is 24 hours. Remember that positive values are purchase orders and negative values are sales orders. Note that the whole interval (order length) has to be specified, e.g. 14-18 is a block order starting at 14:00 CET until 18:00 CET 4 hours. If, during the price calculation, situations occur where a choice of prioritisation must be made between competing block orders, the order selection is based on the following exclusion criteria: 1. Difference between order price and average area price. The block order with the largest difference between submitted price and average area price will be excluded. 2. Energy, which means volume multiplied with the number of hours in the block. If the difference between submitted price and area price is equal, then the block order or the combination of the orders that gives the largest turnover will be given priority. 3.1 Creating a block order 1. Start creating your order by selecting BID Create regular block bid. 2. Select the days you want the order to be included in the calculation. This is always an integer number of whole days. 3. There are two different ways to create a block order: Enter values directly into SESAM Web. Enter the time period exactly e.g. when creating an order for delivery hours 1 to 5 you have to choose the interval from 00:00 to 05:00. Enter the volume and the price you are willing to buy or sell at. 9

Enter values by using old orders selecting Copy to New. First go to the Bid list and select the order you want to use as a template. By selecting Copy to New, a new order is created based on the old order. 4. When the order is ready, click Send bid and the order is sent to SESAM. The order is automatically saved to the Bid list. For more information on using the Bid list, see the separate section.am user guide Page 10 NOTES 3.2 Handling multiple block orders Choose Import multiple block bids from the drop-down menu like shown below. Import Multiple Block Bids page opens. Click Download Excel Template and the following Excel spread sheet opens in your local Excel. 10

Fill in the data and select the blocks to be copied like illustrated below. To copy the blocks you can either use CTRL+C or use the copy function you find under the Edit menu in Excel.ser guide Page 11 NOTES Go back to the SESAM Web Import Multiple Block Bids page and click Import from Excel. The block orders will be generated and the results of the import operation are shown on the page. If the import went well for the entire number of block orders, the listing will look like the example below. If some of the imported block orders failed, the listing will indicate what went wrong. Example of a failed block import is shown below. 11

After the multiple block order import, the new block orders will have the status created. You can list the new block orders by choosing To Bid List and the order list is generated like the example below shows. 3.3 Conversion of block orders As an instrument to ease effect situations in the market, there is a possibility to have not activated block orders converted to regular single hourly orders in the Elspot market in a situation where the price in the area reaches technical maximum. The conversion of a block order on the supply side in a situation of under supply will reduce or may even help to avoid - the need of curtailment of the purchase side. If there is a convertible block order, it can be converted to a single hourly order. When this happens, the price of the block order is multiplied with a conversion multiplier, which is the lowest price the order can be executed in this situation. Customers who are interested in conversion of block orders have to contact Nord Pool Spot. 3.4 Linking a block order In order to be able to link a block order, at least two blocks must exist for the same trading day. You link an active block order by clicking Link on another order visible in the block order list. Now, the order that you linked your order to must get accepted before the order can be accepted. You can only link regular block orders. In the example below, bid 3291929 is the mother to the daughter 3291943. A link is removed by selecting Clear Current link. It is not possible to link a convertible block order. Trying to link a convertible block order with another block will produce an error message. 12

3.5 Editing an order If you want to edit either the volume or price limit in an order already created, go to the Bid list by clicking the button to Bid list. Edit the order by pressing the Id of the order. 3.6 Creating block definitions You can create customised block periods in SESAM by choosing Account settings Block definitions. First select the time range for the order (min. 3 hours) and press the green tick symbol. Now you can choose your own customised block period from the Block definition menu when creating a regular block order. 3.7 Block order commands Save bid = Saves a bid and adds it to the Bid list but doesn t send it to SESAM Send bid = Sends the bid to SESAM and saves the bid to the Bid list for further modification To Bid list = Shows the bid list where previously made bids are visible Add new bid = Creates a new bid Copy to new = Creates a new bid based on the bid open ESAM user guide Page 14ES 4 Flexible hourly orders Flexible hourly orders are orders that can be activated in hours with high prices. A flexible hourly order can only be a sales order, so the volume must always have a negative sign. You can enter a maximum of 5 flexible hourly orders for one day. 13

4.1 Creating a flexible hourly order 1. Start creating your order by selecting BID Create new flexible hourly bid. 2. Select the days for bidding. This is always an integer number of whole days. 3. There are two different ways to create a flexible hourly order: Enter values directly into SESAM Web. Enter the volume and the price at which you are willing to sell. Enter values by using old orders selecting Copy to New. First go to the Bid list and select the order you want to use as template. By selecting Copy to New, a new order is created based on the old order. user guide Page 15 NOTES 4. When the order is ready, click Send bid and the order is sent to SESAM. The order is automatically saved in the Bid list. If you want to keep on track on the status of the order, select the tab Status History. For more information on how to use the Bid list, see the separate section. 14

4.2 Editing an order If you want to edit either the volumes or price limits in an order already created, go to the Bid list by clicking To Bid list. Edit the order by pressing the Id of the order. 4.3 Flexible order commands Save bid Send bid To Bid list Add new bid Copy to new ESAM user guide Page 16 NOTES = Saves an order and adds it to the Bid list but doesn t send it to SESAM = Sends the order to SESAM and saves the bid to the Bid list for further modification = Shows the bid list where previously made orders are visible = Creates a new order = Creates a new order based on the order open 15

5 The bid list The bid list is a tool which shows all information regarding orders made by the customer. The Bid list shows historical bidding information up to two weeks back in time. The Bid list enables you to filter old orders by different time periods and order types. The column Status indicates the status of the order, which can be one of the following: Created = The order is created and saved but NOT sent to SESAM. The order is NOT received by Nord Pool Spot and hence NOT included in the price calculation. Accepted = The order is saved and sent to SESAM. It is received by Nord Pool Spot and will be included in the price calculation. User Accepted = The order is saved and sent to SESAM. It is received by Nord Pool Spot. In addition, the order has been controlled and verified in the SESAM Web reasonability check by the user. Cancelled = The order is cancelled and NOT included in the price calculation. Results Published SESAM user guide Page 17 NOTES = The price calculation is finished and prices and volumes have been published. The order cannot be edited any more. 16

5.1 Bid list order commands To alter an order using the order commands, you first have to mark the tick-box of the order. You can execute a command for one or several orders at a time. Send Cancel Delete = Send the order to Nord Pool Spot. = If an order has been sent to Nord Pool Spot and has the Status Accepted it can be cancelled using this button. By opening the cancelled order in the Bid list and sending it to Nord Pool Spot again, the status can be changed to Accepted. = If an order has not yet been sent to Nord Pool Spot and has Status Created, it can be deleted using this button. 17

6 Reasonability check The reasonability check is a tool that measures how much an order deviates from the published results of an order made on the reference day. If the order volume increases or decreases by more than the predefined deviation limits, the reasonability check alerts the customer. It is voluntary to perform this check, but it is highly recommended to include this operation in your daily Elspot routines since it is an excellent tool for avoiding mistakes when bidding. 6.1 Add parameters for reasonability check 1. Select Account Account settings Properties. 2. Enter the volume limits and relative limits for the chosen account and press Save. 8 It is not necessary to add values in all fields. If a participant does not usually send block orders it is recommended to put value 1 in Block bid volume limit and 1% in Block bid relative limit. The reasonability check will then give an alert to avoid wrong orders. 18

Automatic check for single hourly orders It is possible to enable automatic reasonability check for single hourly orders. Every time an order is created, the reasonability check reports the deviation in the order from the reference day. In the automatic reasonability check, the reference day is always the last day for which prices have been published. 6.2 Run reasonability check When running the reasonability check, the order will be compared with the published order results of a chosen reference date. Select Account Run reasonability check. In the Price type drop-down menu it is possible to choose the price level at which you want your order to be checked. I.e. if you choose Area price, your order volume on the reference day area price will be compared to the corresponding volume in the reference day order. Min price means theoretical minimum price and max price means theoretical maximum price. Adjust the reference date by selecting the correct date. Click Check. Your orders are compared to the reference day and results are displayed. 19

6.3 Reasonability check results When the result from the reasonability check is generated, the colours in hours and status indicate whether the deviation is within the user defined boundaries or not. Colours in hour rows: Green = No limit is exceeded. Volumes are within predefined deviation margins. Red = Reasonability check alarm, deviations are outside predefined boundaries. Yellow = There are no values from reference day to compare with. Colours in status row: Green = Ok no predefined deviation margins are exceeded. Red = Outside limits - Volume in one or more hours deviates by more than the predefined values or there are no values from reference day to compare with. The reasonability check may be run automatically every day or manually: Automatic reasonability check (Single hourly orders). If the check for automatic reasonability check is activated, results for single hourly orders are generated automatically when the order is sent. If automatic checking of single orders has been enabled in the dialogue window above, orders submitted to SESAM will automatically be checked against the predefined limits. Below is an example of a reasonability check that has been passed successfully. The order s status in SESAM will be changed from Accepted to User Accepted. Reasonability check passed 20

If the reasonability check fails, a dialogue window similar to the one below will appear. In this case, the hours where the predefined limits have been exceeded are marked in red and the Status row shows Outside limits. Reasonability check failed Commands for automatic reasonability check Confirm Go back to bid = The bid list is opened. The order status in SESAM is changed from Accepted to User Accepted. This is a confirmation that the order which is sent to SESAM is correct. The order can be confirmed even if it exceeds the predefined deviation limits. = Opens a single hourly bid table. Bid status is set to Accepted IMPORTANT: Please note that the order will be included in the price calculation even if the Confirm button is not pressed. In this case, the order s status remains Accepted. 21

Manual reasonability check 1. Choose Account Run reasonability check 2. Choose Reference date and Price type 3. Press Check 4. The deviation, displaying single hourly bid, block bid and total columns, is displayed. Individual orders 1. Mark the orders that you want to confirm. It is possible to confirm orders even if they have Status Outside limits in the reasonability check. 2. The order list is opened and the order status is set to User accepted. 3. By pressing Cancel, the manual reasonability check window is opened. 22

7 Reports from SESAM Web You can download both trading reports and order reports directly from SESAM Web after completion of the price calculation.
