Staff in both categories may receive an allowance for a secondary dependent (parent or brother/ sister who is a full time student under age 21 for whom staff member provides 50% of financial support), unless they are receiving a payment for a dependent spouse. Amount as per UN salary scale. Not applicable Reimbursement of Income Tax See Staff Rule 103.19 for reference Mobilization Allowance See Staff Rule 103.21 for reference Applicable to staff members who are obligated to pay income taxes from their income from the GS/OAS to a Contract member state, a state or local government provided that the member state where such taxes are paid funds the full amount of said reimbursement. Said staff members must provide all information and documentation for computations of the tax reimbursement requested and verification of the tax owed. Purpose: to cover the moving, travel and other transportation expenses for an internationally Contract recruited staff member in the professional category and his/her family upon recruitment or transfer to and from another duty station.payable to those mentioned above who entered GS/OAS after 4/1/02 or those who were on board as of 4/1/02 who transfer to another duty station and elect not to receive Travel Expenses, Moving Expenses, Installation Allowance or Transportation of Household Effects. Note: The amount of the allowance shall be $ 9,000 for a staff member without eligible dependents; $12,000 for a staff member with one eligible dependent; and $ 15,000 for a staff member with 2 or more eligible dependents. Contract A staff member with a contract for a period of one year but less than two years shall receive an adjusted allowance. Not applicable to individuals with contracts less than 1 year. Note: For contracts of more than one year but less than fourteen months 50%; for contracts fourteen months or more but less than sixteen months 60%; for contracts of sixteen months or more but less than eighteen months 70%; for contracts eighteen or more but less than twenty months 80%; for contracts of twenty months or more but less than twenty two 90%; and for contracts for twenty two months or more but less than two years 95% with more than one eligible dependent. 1

Contract Contract Repatriation Travel & Moving Allowance See Staff Rule 103.22 for reference Payable upon separation from service to an internationally recruited staff member in the professional category who entered the GS/OAS after 3/31/03 or to staff who entered prior to 4/1/03 who elect not to receive Travel Expenses, Moving Expenses or Transportation of Household Effects. Note: For staff with one year or more but <2 of service: $4,350 without dependents; $5,800 with 1 dependent; $7,250 with 2 or more dependents. For staff with 2 years or more of service: $6,000 without dependents; $8,000 with 1 dependent; $10,000 with two or more dependents. Contract unless staff member resigns before completing 1 yr. of service. Contract unless staff member has a contract of less than 1 year or resigns before completing 1 year of service. Idem Series B Repatriation Grant See Staff Rule 110.8 for reference Payable upon separation from service to internationally recruited, professional staff members whom the GS/OAS is obligated to repatriate. Not payable if staff member is summarily dismissed. The amount of the grant is paid in weeks of basic salary based on years of service up to 28 weeks according to dependency status. Payable to internationally recruited professional category staff who were on board as of 4/1/02 upon transfer to another duty station if they do not choose the mobilization allowance. For repatriation, payable to internationally recruited professional staff who joined the GS/OAS prior to 4/1/03 if they do not choose the repatriation allowance. Includes: ticket, terminal expenses, per diem for staff member & eligible dependents. Minimum prior notice of 7 days and maximum of 60 days or days of salary + benefits. American States is obligatory and shall be governed by the regulations of that Plan. Amount as per Pensionable Salary Scale. Contract < 3 months direct savings plan (5%OAS/5%staff member). Contract > 3 months & < 1 year direct savings or Provident Fund (5%/5%). 1 year or more Retirement & Pension or Qualified Defined 401M (14% OAS/7% staff member). May participate in Retirement and Pension or Qualified Defined 401 M. May participate in Provident Plan. Health Insurance See Staff Rule 107.3 for reference The General Secretariat shall contribute to a group health insurance plan for any staff member with an appointment of six months or longer. GS/OAS contributes 2/3 of premium cost; staff member contributes 1/3. 2013 premium, Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield: Family $1,971.15, Double $1,315.20, Single $656.01; B. Kaiser Permanente: Family $1,748.38, Double $1,214.95, Single $607.49. Contract if contract is for six months or more.. The Secretary General, at his/her option, may provide Observers with an insurance plan and policies (Health and Worker Compensation, loss of personal effects) different from that provided to all other staff members under Staff Rules 107.3 and 107.4. Life Insurance See Staff Rule 107.3 for reference The General Secretariat shall maintain a group life insurance plan and a 24 hour accidental death insurance plan for each staff member with an appointment of one year or more. Contract if contract is for one year or more.. Observers shall not be entitled to the life and accidental death insurance subsidized by the General Secretariat under Staff Rules 107.3(a) and 107.3(f). Worker s Compensation See Staff Rule 107.4 for reference The General Secretariat shall provide for an adequate system of workers' compensation for its staff members. In the case of a work related injury or illness confirmed under this Rule, all reasonably related medical expenses shall be paid by the General Secretariat from a fund maintained for that purpose.. Not applicable Education Grant See Staff Rule 103.13 for reference An internationally recruited staff member in the professional category with a career, continuing or Contract Series B contract who is not a national or permanent resident of the duty station country is eligible for the education grant for each dependent child who is in fullterm attendance at school, university or other educational center when these studies will facilitate the child s reassimilation to the staff member s home country. 75% of tuition and board up to $9,750 university level. 70% of tuition and board up to $9,100 pre university level.
