How the Policy Works Your policy premiums buy life insurance with the potential for growth of account value. Once applicable sales charges, taxes and policy charges are deducted, the net premiums are invested in the investment choices you select. The performance of the investment choices will determine your policy s account value. Charges are deducted from the policy account value. The policy value must be sufficient to sustain the policy and help ensure that the death benefit is funded. Upon your death, your beneficiary will receive the death benefit of the policy minus any loans or withdrawals. Life insurance death benefits are generally Federal income tax-free, however, the death benefit may be included in your estate for Federal estate tax purposes. 12 Professional Money Managers Aggressive Growth Hartford Growth Opportunities HLS Fund Hartford International Small Company HLS Fund Hartford Small Company HLS Fund Putnam VT Capital Opportunities Fund Putnam VT New Opportunities Fund Income American Funds Bond Fund Hartford Mortgage Securities HLS Fund Hartford Total Return Bond HLS Fund Putnam VT High Yield Fund Putnam VT Income Fund Templeton Global Income Securities Fund Growth and Income American Funds Blue Chip Income and Growth Fund American Funds Growth-Income Fund Fidelity VIP Equity-Income Portfolio Franklin Income Securities Fund Hartford Disciplined Equity HLS Fund Hartford Dividend and Growth HLS Fund Hartford Index HLS Fund Lord Abbett America s Value Portfolio Lord Abbett Growth and Income Portfolio MFS Investors Trust Series Mutual Shares Securities Fund Oppenheimer Main Street Fund /VA Putnam VT Equity Income Fund Putnam VT Growth and Income Fund Van Kampen LIT Comstock Portfolio II A Fixed Account is available in certain states. Although the fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in the fund. Page 1 of 5 (not valid without all pages)

Features and Benefits Stag Protector II offers attractive advantages for business planning as well as personal insurance planning. The policy offers flexible features, policy access and tax advantages. Flexible Features Death Benefit Options At issue, you select one of three options where the death benefit equals: Option A (Level): the current face amount Option B (Return of Account Value): the current face amount plus the policy account value Option C (Return of Premiums): the current face amount plus the total premiums paid (premium capped at $5 million), or Option D (Decreasing): (available only after issue) Death Benefit equals the face amount plus the lesser of Account Value at time of Death Benefit Option change, or current Account Value. Investment Choices The policy offers a diverse range of investment options and a Fixed Account. You may select up to 20 investment choices at any one time. Premium Payments Face Amount Changes Policy Access Loans Preferred Loans Withdrawals Tax Advantages You determine the premium amount and payment schedule. The amount of planned premium can be increased or decreased, within certain limits. Increase: A minimum increase of $25,000 can be requested after your policy s 1st anniversary. Evidence of insurability will be required. Decrease: Decreases are allowed after the policy s 1st anniversary. Minimum face amount limits will apply based on rules in effect at the time. Policy loans are available at any time. Your policy secures the loan, and interest will be charged. Minimum loan is $500; maximum is the cash surrender value of your policy. Preferred loans are available after your policy s 10th anniversary if your policy s account value exceeds the total premiums paid. A lower interest rate is charged on preferred loans. There is a risk that the IRS could contend that certain preferred loans should be treated as currently taxable distributions rather than loans. One free policy withdrawal is allowed each month. Minimum withdrawal is $500; maximum is your policy s cash surrender value minus $1,000. Generally income tax-free death benefit.* Any potential growth in the policy s cash value will be on a tax-deferred basis. Tax-advantaged transfer of assets between investment choices. Some restrictions may apply on certain transactions. See current product prospectus for further details. Tax-advantaged access to account value through policy loans and withdrawals. Both loans and withdrawals from a permanent life insurance policy may be subject to penalties and fees and, along with any accrued loan interest, will reduce the policy's Account Value and Death Benefit. Depending upon the performance of a VUL policy's investment choices, the Account Value may be worth more or less than the original amount invested in the policy. Assuming a policy is not a Modified Endowment Contract (MEC), loans are free from current Federal taxation and withdrawals are taxed only to the extent that they exceed the policyowner s basis in the policy. Distributions from MECs are subject to Federal income tax to the extent of the gain in the policy and taxable distributions are subject to a 10% additional tax, with certain exceptions. * Death benefit may be included in your estate for Federal estate tax purposes. Page 2 of 5 (not valid without all pages)

Policy Charges As a variable universal life policy, Stag Protector II has fees associated with buying, owning and surrendering the policy. The charges include mortality and expense risk charges (not to exceed 0.75%), cost of insurance (varies by age, gender, face amount and underwriting class), administrative charges (not to exceed $10/month), surrender charges (may vary based on policy duration), and fees and expenses (including fund management fees and 12b-1 fees, where applicable), charged by the funds. These charges are reflected in the policy s prospectus and should be reviewed with your registered representative. These charges will have significant impact on Policy Account Values. Policy Account Values vary with actual underlying fund performance. Additional Protection Maturity Extension Provision The policy normally matures at age 100 but the client can elect to extend the policy maturation.* If elected, extends the maturity date so that the policy matures at the insured s death, regardless of age. No premium payments allowed. Monthly deductions will no longer be taken. Must be elected 30 days prior to scheduled maturity date. Loans, withdrawals and surrenders will be allowed. Option 1: On scheduled maturity date, the Face Amount will be equal to the Death Benefit as of that date. Death Benefit option chosen prior to age 100 will no longer apply, it will become level. Policy s Account Value in separate account will be transferred to Fixed Account. Option 2: On scheduled maturity date, the Face Amount will be equal the Death Benefit less the Account Value as of that date. Death Benefit option chosen prior to age 100 will no longer apply, it will become Return of Account Value. Client will be able to control where their account values are invested. * Tax consequences of continuing a policy beyond age 100 are uncertain. No-Lapse Where available, the NLG guarantees that the policy will stay in force regardless of investment performance for 10 Guarantee (NLG) years for issue age 65 or less, grading down to 5 years for issue ages 70-75. The policy is guaranteed not to lapse during the specified period as long as the sum of the premiums (less indebtedness and less withdrawals) is at least equal to the cumulative sum of the No Lapse Guarantee Premium for the policy.
