Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants Course Programme 2012/2013 2012 Social Media and Employment Law: what you need to know 20 September 12:00 14:30 Liverpool Chamber of Commerce 20 + VAT Social media is revolutionising the way we work, communicate and live. The workplace is no longer the physical office, desk and computer, but rather it can exist wherever someone is doing business or interacting with colleagues. This dramatic change in how we work throws up lots of new and fascinating issues. The aim of this workshop is to tackle those issues head on and provide solutions to the new challenges posed by social media. The event will encourage people to share ideas and experiences as well as to understand the legal position about social media in the workplace. Speaker: Stephen Robinson is a Partner in the Employment Group in Manchester. He is an employment law specialist who advises businesses and individuals in a wide range of sectors on all aspects of this area. He is known for giving common sense, user friendly and above all strategic commercial advice. He is an expert in his field and with 11 years employment law experience he is recommended by Legal 500 and clients. Stephen is also a regular media commentator on the latest legal issues to affect HR. This seminar will bring you up to date with the new proposals. Many businesses are still failing to make the most of tax relief available to them and many companies still believe that the scope to claim relief is restricted to those in white lab coats, but the remit stretches far beyond this. This seminar will answer questions such as How will these changes affect your business? Should you be planning now to maximise your position? What is the Patent Box? Will my business qualify? What are the pitfalls? Speaker: Colin Smyth is a corporate tax partner at Baker Tilly with 20 years experience. He advises entrepreneurs and their businesses, as well as private equity houses and quoted companies. He leads the national Corporate Transactions Group and is particularly experienced in M&A structuring.
