Purpose of this Session The purpose of today s session is to discuss How Citi moves data to and from its Global Data Repository The levels of data available Determining the type of data and file required The types of files available What Citi is doing to move clients forward in data and file integration consistency 3
History of Citi s File Integration Approach We have come a long way! Citi has evolved its file integration strategy as it has expanded globally 2016 2015 STANDARDIZATION Work with clients on multi-platforms to create a custom offering to meet individual client needs, leveraging global standard files 2007 GLOBAL CONSISTENCY Global file assessment to maximize data and bring global consistency to the file integration space 2004 2000 GLOBAL FILES Brand agnostic (mixes both Visa and MC data) in the Citi Custom STANDARD FILES Format (CCF) Began offering a Offered to global standard suite of files clients with configuration options to allow flexibility in how data is delivered to clients GLOBAL DATA REPOSITORY LAUNCHED First proprietary repository to accept data from all available global programs 4
Decisions, Decisions Choosing the right file can be overwhelming. Citi s consultative approach to data integration assists clients in selecting the most appropriate file type available. During implementation of a new product or service, Citi s implementation person will conduct a discovery session to identify the file that will best meet your needs. Examples of questions: Frequency of the file: some files are available 7 days per week; others are available 5 Does your file need to include data from a third party source, such as a travel agency? If so, the file may need to have a lag to wait for the enhanced data to arrive Does the target system already have an interface module available? If so, the implementation may be simpler, if the format can be leveraged Will the program be implemented in more than one country? If so, there may be more than one file needed Are there limitations in the target system that will need to be addressed? Some systems, for example, cannot accommodate dual currency processing or 16 digit account numbers. 6
Challenge: Hitting the Target In the world of files, more is not necessarily better. Citi targets delivery of standard files with unique configurations to Simplify the integration process. Too Many Files 1 Having too many files can mean increased costs, particularly for files delivered to 3 rd parties Differing Versions 2 Different versions means more maintenance and overhead costs to you Data Differences 3 For some, different files means differences in data. 1 2 3 Global Standard 7
Citi s File Offering Citi offers a number of files, suited to specific client requirements. The best file for your program is based on the purpose for which the data will be used File Type Global Content Description Best Suited For CCF [fixed positional flat file] Cardmember [fixed positional flat file] CDF [XML format] SAP [fixed positional flat file] VCF [fixed positional or variable length flat file] Comprehensive file with specific details about accounts and transactions Includes the most detail available Mixed brand programs Feeding GL / accounting / expense management systems Limited account details Feeding traveler profiles Updating HR or MIS systems where transactions are not needed Comprehensive file with account and transaction details Includes level 3 information Transaction data May contain expense mapping 4.7 and 5.0 available Comprehensive file with account and transaction details Includes level 3 information MasterCard programs Feeding GL / accounting/ expense management systems Feeding SAP expense management module and/or GL module Visa programs Feeding GL / accounting/ expense management systems 8
