Foreword The national accounts offer a systematic and consistent overview of the Dutch economy. These official overview statistics play a key role in economic and monetary policy-making and form the basis of the economic predictions and analyses of the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. The national accounts are also crucial in determining payments to the European Union and in determining the extent to which the Netherlands meets the EMU norm. The economic growth, the budget deficit and disposable household income are some of the major macro-economic indicators of the national accounts. Furthermore the national accounts provide figures about consumption, investments, imports and exports, and employment. Since June 2014 the national accounts have been compiled according to the new guidelines of the European System of Accounts (ESA) 2010. These were already applied in the 2013 edition of the National Accounts, but the figures in the time series were provisional at the time. The current edition has the figures of the definite time series. The latest national accounts data are accessible and can be downloaded at www.cbs.nl/statline. Director General, Dr. T.B.P.M. National accounts on the website of Statistics Netherlands Website Figures and publications of the national accounts are available on the website of Statistics Netherlands (www.cbs.nl). The figures of the national accounts are published on StatLine, the electronic databank of Statistics Netherlands. Detailed supply and use tables and input-output tables are available on request. Macroeconomic figures on StatLine National accounts figures can be found on StatLine under the theme Macroeconomics. Hereafter a description of the folder structure of this theme is given. For each folder is shown what kind of information it contains. Most tables under the theme Macroeconomics provide national accounts data. All national accounts figures on Statline and in this publication are in conformity with the European system of accounts (ESA 2010). Data published before can be found on Statline in the main folder Archive\Macroeconomics. Main theme (Macroeconomics) Key figures of the national accounts can be found here, such as approaches of domestic product, the structure of national net lending/borrowing and the macroeconomic scoreboard, containing the indicators of the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure (MIP) scoreboard. GDP and main components The tables in this folder are based on the supply and use tables of the national accounts. They give information about GDP (economic growth), value added, output and intermediate consumption. Besides data on final expenditure can be found here, like household and government consumption, fixed capital formation and imports and exports. Most tables have a breakdown by industries or product groups. Labour accounts The tables in this folder are based on the labour accounts and give figures about labour and wages. The tables contain amongst others employed persons, jobs, hours worked and compensation of employees. Many figures are broken down by industries, gender and employee/self-employed persons. National accounts on the website of Statistics Netherlands 9

Sector accounts; income and wealth These tables provide information about uses and resources and about assets and liabilities including changes. Many tables have a breakdown into institutional sectors like nonfinancial and financial corporations, government and households. Financial markets This item is not a part of the national account. It contains data about share prices, bonds, savings and credits. Environmental accounts The table with environmental-economic figures presents an overview of environmental and economic key figures that illustrate the contribution to environmental issues (greenhouse effect, acidification, etc.), environmental expenditure (costs, taxes, etc.) and the economic position (value added, labour input, etc.) of sectors of industry. Regional accounts The tables with regional accounts give figures by COROP region, province and groups of provinces. Regional accounts are consistent with the national accounts. Tourism accounts This table contains information about tourist key indicators. Tourism contributes to the Dutch economy (contribution to employment, gross domestic product and value added). Tourism is not an industry in itself, but covers a wide range of products and services. The figures are consistent with the conceptual framework of the National Accounts (NA). 10 National accounts 2014
