Management s responsibility for the financial statements Management is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements of each of the Funds in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards, and for such internal control as management determines is necessary to enable the preparation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error. Auditor s responsibility Our responsibility is to express an opinion on the financial statements of each of the Funds based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with Canadian generally accepted auditing standards. Those standards require that we comply with ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP PwC Tower, 18 York Street, Suite 2600, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5J 0B2 T: +1 416 863 1133, F: +1 416 365 8215 PwC refers to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, an Ontario limited liability partnership.

An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditor s judgment, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the entity s preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity s internal control. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates made by management, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financial statements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion. Opinion In our opinion, the financial statements of each of the Funds present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of each of the Funds as at December 31, 2016 and the financial performance and cash flow of each of the Funds for the year ended December 31, 2016 in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards. Other matter The financial statements of each of the Funds as at and for the year ended December 31, 2015 were audited by another auditor who expressed an unmodified opinion on those statements on April 18, 2016. A portfolio turnover rate of 100% is equivalent to the fund buying and selling all of the securities in its portfolio ofthe year. The higher a fund's portfolio turnover rate in a year, the greater the tradingcosts payable by the fund in the year, and the greater the chance ofan investor receivingtaxable capital gains in the year. There is not necessarily a relationship between a high turnover rate and the performance ofa fund. 3 Financial highlights for the years 2015, 2014 and 2013 are based on IFRS and for the year 2012 is based on Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 4 Invest series commenced operations on November 7, 2014. RBC GUARANTEED INVESTMENT FUNDS Page 14 of 73
