This is a summary of the cover available under the Rural Insurance Group Ltd Equine Policy. The summary does not include all the policy benefits, limits and exclusions; full terms and conditions can be found in the policy wording, a copy of which is available to download from our website www.ruralinsurance.co.uk or by contacting your insurance adviser. The policy, and not this summary, is the basis of the contract of insurance. The policy is an annual insurance contract that provides a wide range of covers as detailed below. Our policy provides compensation for loss, destruction, damage, death, disease, illness or liability as requested by You and as described in the policy documents. The sum insured You choose for sections A Loss of Animal and C Loss of Use must represent the current market value or the price paid for the Horse; if they do not, payments may be reduced in the event of a claim. Class Of Use The purpose for which the Horse is kept and insured as shown in the Schedule and defined below: 1. Class 1 Hacking, Pony Club and Riding Club Events, Gymkhanas, Showing, Novice and Intermediate Dressage, Heavy Horses, Western Riding, Breeding, Driving, Foals over 30 Days old, Retired Horses, Field Companions, Young Stock/Store Horses. 2. Class 2 Advanced Dressage, Hunting (including Drag Hunting), Novice and Intermediate Eventing, Long Distance Riding, Polo, Polo Crosse, Cross Country, Team Chasing, Horse Ball, Hunter Trials, British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) Show Jumping, Le Trec. 3. Class 3 Point to Point, Advanced Eventing, Hunter Chasing, Trotting/Pacing Races, Arab Racing and any other defined activity described in the Schedule. Sections of Cover Available A Loss of Animal. (Compulsory Cover) o Death o Theft / Straying o Collection Charges o Rescue Costs o Rewards and Advertising o Irrecoverable Entry Fees B Veterinary Fees. (Optional) o Costs incurred for Veterinary Fees o Alternative Treatment o Alternative Husbandry o Hospital Livery Costs o Transportation Costs C Loss of Use. (Optional) o 75% of the Market Value or of the sum insured whichever is the lesser amount if the insured horse is or becomes Permanently Unable of participating in one or more of the activities for which it is kept. (Optional) o Legal expenses and Professional Fees arising from an accident involving the Horse and a third party. Significant Exclusions Any Pre-Existing Condition. The Excess shown in the policy Schedule. Euthanasia of the Horse unless performed by a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in accordance with BEVA (British Equestrian Veterinary Association) guidelines. Any Condition occurring during or before the first 14 days of cover. Any costs incurred after 365 days from the onset of the Accident or Condition. Any Vice or Behavioural problem. Theft of Saddlery and Tack from a building unless by forcible, violent entry or exit. Theft of Horse Trailer or Horse Drawn Vehicle unless secured by a hitch lock or wheel clamp. Liability arising from the hiring out of any Horse by You or its use by any riding establishment. Liability arising from any incident involving Horse Drawn Vehicle or Horse Trailer, unless the Horse Drawn Vehicle or Horse Trailer is drawn by a Horse covered under this policy. Cancellation Procedure There is an option to cancel this policy within 14 days of receipt of the policy Schedule and wording. A refund of premium will be allowed for the time that was left on the policy. If it is later and there have been no claims made during the current Period of Insurance, We will return a proportionate part of the last premium paid in respect of the unexpired Period of Insurance (subject to a minimum premium of 100) less any policy fees already incurred. Financial Services Compensation Scheme Rural Insurance Group Limited QBE Insurance (Europe) Limited Ageas Insurance Limited are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if any of these companies cannot meet their insurance obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. For compulsory insurance You may be entitled to compensation up to 100% of the claim. For all other types of insurance You may be entitled to compensation up to 90% of the claim.
