Continuing Education RPA Continuing Education (CE) is the smart and affordable way to stay current on technical issues in the industry while maintaining your credentials. HOW TO EARN A CERTIFICATE OR CREDENTIAL CERTIFICATE Create an Account. You will need to create an account before you can begin to pursue a certificate. If you are an ASPPA member, visit www.asppa-net.org and click on Create Account. If you are a NAPA or NTSA member, you will need to contact our Customer Care department to establish your account. You do not need to be a member of ASPPA, ACOPA, NAPA or NTSA to create an account or take an examination; however, there are many benefits to becoming a member while you pursue certificate programs and credentials. Please visit www.asppa-net.org, www.ntsa-net. org or www.napa-net.org for more information on becoming an ASPPA, ACOPA, NAPA, or NTSA member. Order Study Materials. Once you have created an account, you can order study materials online. You can also use the RPA Publications Order Form to order printed materials by fax or mail. We also provide supplemental learning tools such as webcasts and practice examinations to assist with preparation for examinations. Register for and Pass Examinations. Simply register for the examinations that are required for the program(s) you are pursuing. Once you have successfully completed the required examination(s), you will be issued the certificate. CREDENTIAL Apply for the Credential. After successfully completing all necessary requirements, you can apply for credentialed membership with ASPPA, ACOPA, NAPA, and/or NTSA. Once awarded the credential, you will need to earn 40 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credit, two of which must be ethics credits, over a two-year cycle (on an ongoing basis) to maintain an active credential (some exclusions apply). (20 hours of continuing education (CE) credit including 2 Ethics Credits for CPFA/ QPFC only). If you are currently a credentialed member you can add an additional credential by completing the applicable requirements, and submitting an additional credential/upgrade credential application. 6 RETIREMENT PLAN ACADEMY

ASPPA Academy RETIREMENT PLAN FUNDAMENTALS CERTIFICATE (RPF) Why RPF Certifi cate? The Retirement Plan Fundamentals (RPF) course is the starting point for ASPPA education. Redeveloped for 2016, the RPF Modules provide an introduction to the most relevant topics of retirement plan administration and basic training on related skills. The six modules can be completed one by one in a short amount of time, allowing candidates to study at a pace that doesn t interfere with their responsibilities. RPF MODULES The RPF modules provide flexible options for an education program customized to meet your needs and budget. The Lifecycle of a Plan module provides new hires or individuals serving in a non-administrative role with a solid overview of industry concepts. Individuals who perform specialized tasks focus on the topic modules that best fit their responsibilities. Candidates who handle a wide range of administrative responsibilities, or those who are looking to pursue an ASPPA credential can combine all six modules and earn the RPF Certificate. The Retirement Plan Fundamentals course material has become an integral part of our employee 401(k) training program. Through its wide range of topics and depth of information, this course has proven to be a solid foundation for providing the knowledge and insights necessary to assist clients and achieve even greater success in the recordkeeping industry. Successfully completed exams are valid for eight and a half years from the date taken and passed. 3 Exam attempts that have not been submitted will expire as of midnight, December 14, 2016, and may not be transferred or postponed. 4 Candidates who fail all of the exam attempts for a module may only repurchase the modules and retake the exam the following year. 8 RETIREMENT PLAN ACADEMY

EXPERIENCE NOMINATION PATH MSPAs who have been practicing in the pension actuarial field for at least 15 years can be honored with the FSPA credential for demonstration of technical and thought leadership in the pension actuarial field over an extended period of time at a very high level. A candidate for the FSPA designation under this track must be nominated by at least two ACOPA members who attest to the candidate s accomplishments, and the candidate must furnish a detailed description of his or her accomplishments and qualifications. A nominee must be an Enrolled Actuary in good standing who has never been subject to discipline (not counseling) by any professional organization. To be considered for 2016, the completed application form must be submitted by June 24, 2016. Completed applications will be considered by a committee of five current FSPA s following the submission deadline, and new FSPAs will be awarded the designation at the ACOPA Transition Meeting in conjunction with the ASPPA Annual Conference in October 2016. In considering whether nominated applicants have demonstrated technical and thought leadership in the pension actuarial field over an extended period of time at a very high level, the committee will consider the length of the candidate s career, the testimonials of the two nominating members, and the candidate s own description of his or her accomplishments and qualifications.
