Principia CAMS Integration The integration of Principia and CAMS provides users with access to Morningstar portfolio and security reports. This manual will show you how to generate Presentation and Principia Advisor Reports from the CAMS module. You will also learn about exporting client information for use in Principia. The information discussed in this manual is available for licensed users of CAMS and Principia products. This manual covers how to generate the following reports: Account Statement Portfolio Investment Comparison, and Security Detail. What is covered in this manual? How to Access Presentation Reports How to Access Presentation Reports In this section you will learn how to generate the Account Statement and the Portfolio reports. The Account Statement report includes a summary of an owner s balance, and breaks down the portfolio with an in depth look at style, sector, and security performance. The Portfolio report provides information on composition, stock sectors, investment activity, and performance of a portfolio. The Account Statement report provides a detailed summary of an owner s portfolio. You can select a time period (or date range) for the report. If you choose time period, you will select an option for either Month, Quarter, Semi Annual, or Annual. If you select the Date Range option, enter a Begin Date for the report. How to generate the Account Statement report The Ending Date for this report reflects the last Principia update. To generate the Account Statement report, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports...Presentation...Account Statement. Select this option from the menu bar. Version 1.0 2

In the Date Selection area, you must select either time Period, or Date Range. 3. Click the Include Fees check box to have the system calculate the portfolio rates of return net of management fees. 4. Click the Principia Benchmark dopdown and select an index. 5. Click Transaction Details to include each transaction that occurred within the defined report range. 6. Click Display Morningstar Ratings on Securities if you would like to include the Morningstar Rating in the Account Details and Performance sections of the report. 7. The Account Statement Report can be viewed as a PDF file, or printed. Click the View or Print button. The Ending Date can not be edited. 8. In the Owners dialog box, make a selection, then click OK to generate the report. Version 1.0 3
How to Access Presentation Reports How to generate the Portfolio report The Portfolio report provides an in-depth look at a client s portfolio with asset class, stock sector and investment style breakdowns. You must assign a client or owner before generating the report. How to generate the Portfolio report The Ending Date for this report reflects the last Principia update and can not be changed. To create the Portfolio Report, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports...Presentation...Portfolio. From the menu bar, select Portfolio. 2. The Portfolio Report dialog box appears. Select either Client or Owner. Choose the Reporting Level. 3. From the Primary dropdown, select a benchmark. You must also choose at least one Comparative-Equities and one Comparative-Fixed Income benchmark. Note: Up to four comparative benchmarks can be added to the report. Version 1.0 4

The report can be generated for an individual owner or client for the consolidated family unit. The report is useful for making recommendations and client reporting. To create the Portfolio Snapshot report, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports...Presentation...Portfolio Snapshot. How to generate the Portfolio Snapshot report Select this option from the menu bar. 2. From the Portfolio Snapshot dialog box, select Client or Owners from the Reporting Level section. 3. From the Principia Benchmark, dropdown, choose a benchmark for the report. 4. The Portfolio Snapshot report can be viewed as a PDF file, or printed. Click the View or Print button. Accessing Principia Advisor Reports Accessing Principia Advisor Reports In this section you will learn about generating Principia Advisor reports. The reports provide a variety of analytical tools that can enhance communications with clients, and keep you up to date on investment performance. The Security Detail report highlights key performance, portfolio and operations information. The Investment Comparison report looks at style, performance, sector, tax, and expense analysis. Up to four investments can be added to this report. The Security Detail report allows you to generate a report from the CAMS grid for any security you have in the Principia universe. To generate a report, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports...Principia Advisor Reports...Security Detail. How to generate the Security Detail report Click this option to view the Security Detail Report. 2. In the Security Detail Report dialog box, highlight an investment, then click the View/ Print button to generate the report. The Morningstar Data As Of (Date) reflects the most recent Principia update. Version 1.0 8
Accessing Principia Advisor Reports How to generate the Investment Comparison report The Investment Comparison report integrates Morningstar Principia data for use in CAMS. Up to four open-end funds, closed-end funds, separately managed accounts, and exchange-traded funds can be added to the report. You must have the Principia module installed in order to generate the report for each security type. To generate the Investment Comparison Report, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports...Principia Advisor Reports...Investment Comparison Report. How to generate the Investment Comparison report Select this option. 2. From the Investment Comparison Report dialog box, use the dropdown to choose a benchmark. Select a benchmark from this drop-down field. 3. Select the pages you want to include on the report. Uncheck a box if you do not want to include it. 4. Click View or Print. Version 1.0 9

Exporting and Importing Portfolio Information Exporting and Importing Portfolio Information This section will walk you through the steps of exporting CAMS asset information for use in Principia. You can export asset information for mutual funds, stocks, variable annuities, closed-end funds, and exchange-traded funds. In the Principia CAMS Wizard window, you will make selections regarding how you wish to export data. If you select Export Data for All Clients you will export asset information for all CAMS clients and owners. If you select Export Data for a Selected Client, you will have the option to export asset information for all owners. You can also choose a selected owner for the client. Before you export from CAMS, please note: For each asset exported the corresponding security must contain the correct ticker symbol. Each asset must be assigned a Major Type. How to export all Owners for a Selected Client To export owner information for a client, do the following: 1. From the menu bar, click Interfaces...Planning Systems...Morningstar Export. Select this option from the menu bar. 2. Click Next. 3. From the Principia CAMS Wizard window select an option from the effective date for exported assets section. You must also choose a location to export the CAMS file. The Version 1.0 11
How to export all Owners for a Selected Client Exporting and Importing Portfolio Information system defaults to the Principia User folder if, but you can navigate to an alternative location using the dropdown in the Path for the exported Morningstar file field. Note: Owner is the recommended export order. 4. Click Next, to continue. 5. Select Export Data for a Selected Client and Export All Owners, then click Next. Use this option to select a specific owner for a client. 6. From the dropdown, select a client, and click Finish to complete the export. The dropdown will display CAMS clients. 7. A window appears confirming the file location for the exported file. Click OK to return to the CAMS grid view. 12 Version 1.0
Importing CAMS information into Principia Importing CAMS information into Principia Importing CAMS information allows you to view performance, Morningstar Ratings, style box, and valuation data for portfolios. You can also create a Finra-reviewed portfolio report and investment detail reports. To import CAMS client and owner asset information into Principia, do the following: 1. Click the Portfolio Mode icon. 2. From the Portfolio menu bar, click File...Import Portfolio. 3. From the Import dialog box, highlight dbemstar.xml, and then click Open. How to Import CAMS into Principia 4. If would like to reuse the exported settings, click Yes. Otherwise, click No to start the import process. Version 1.0 13
How to Import CAMS into Principia Importing CAMS information into Principia 5. A dialog box appears displaying investments Principia did not recognize during the import process. Highlight an investment, then use the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box to Identify, Remove, or Assign Proxies. When you are finished, click OK. The system will not recognize preferred stocks, liquidated funds, and investments that are not included in your Principia subscription. 6. In the Allocation Methodology dialog box, select Shares or Market Value in the Import by area. You also must select an option in the Tracking Method area. 7. Click OK. Note: Principia imports month-end prices. 8. A dialog box appears confirming the file has been successfully imported, click OK to finish importing data from CAMS.
