GMIB & Benefit Name Benefit Type Whose life is benefit based on? Description of benefit GMIB Plus III GMIB & Owner(s) Guarantees a minimum benefit base that may be annuitized on the 10th or subsequent anniversaries. The guaranteed benefit base used to determine the income payments is the greater of: - Purchase payments compounded annually at the greater of 5% or the Required Minimum Distribution (current or previous year's, whichever is greater) divided by the benefit base previously calculated under this component, until the contract anniversary prior to the owner's 91st birthday, adjusted for subsequent payments and withdrawals; or, - Highest anniversary value up to the contract anniversary prior to the owner's 81st birthday, adjusted for purchase payments and withdrawals since that date. Current benefit charge Maximum benefit charge 1.50% Details of expenses Issue ages Through age 78 When can benefit be added? Step-up provisions There is also a no lapse feature which automatically exercises the annuitization payments under the GMIB if the account value falls to zero and there is a remaining benefit base. If no withdrawals occur before age 60, a special annuitization payment rate of at least 5% is applicable with the single life w/10 year certain payment option. The enhanced payout rate is 5% if withdrawals begin on or after the 60th birthday and 5.5% if withdrawals begin after the 62nd birthday. In addition, on the 10th and subsequent anniversary, the owner may elect to exercise the accumulation benefit that restores initial purchase payments. If the accumulation benefit is exercised, this benefit terminates. 1.00% assessed annually and calculated against the benefit base Fee percentage may increase upon optional step-up Time of application Two methods of resetting the benefit base are available. Both reset the benefit base to equal the anniversary value if it is greater than the benefit base plus the annual increase amount of 5% through the contract anniversary prior to the oldest owner's 81st birthday. With the optional manual resets, resets of the benefit base are available within a 30- day period prior to any contract anniversary. With the automatic annual step-ups, resets take place automatically each anniversary for seven years. The automatic annual step-up option may be re-elected. Also, automatic annual step-ups can be canceled or added (see prospectus for more detail on restrictions). Both options described above reset the ten-year waiting period for the income benefit and the fee percentage may increase. The resets have no impact on the component. www.advsales.com Page 3 of 9 Copyright 2010 Morningstar, Inc.

GMIB & Impact of withdrawals on benefit Withdrawals reduce the benefit base for the 5% compounding component dollar-fordollar up to 5% of the benefit base. If an excess withdrawal is made during the contract year, all withdrawals during that year reduce the benefit base proportionately. For qualified contracts subject to RMDs, the increases to the benefit base due to the RMD calculation are reduced dollar-for-dollar for non-excess withdrawals. If withdrawals in a contract year exceed the RMD amount, the current year's increases to the benefit base for RMDs are forfeited and the benefit base is reduced proportionately. The withdrawals must be paid to the owner or an approved payee; otherwise the full amount of the withdrawal reduces the benefit base proportionately. Impact of RMDs on benefit Issues with older ages Investment restrictions Spousal continuation Automatic termination of benefit Manual termination of benefit Conflicting benefits & availability Other information Withdrawals reduce the benefit base for the and highest anniversary value component proportionately. If the RMD percentage is greater than 5% the benefit base is increased by the RMD percentage, not applicable if withdrawals in a contract year exceed the RMD amount. The availability to step-up the benefit base option for the income benefit ends prior to oldest owner's 81st birthday. The latest date to exercise the guarantee is the contract anniversary prior to the oldest owner's 91st birthday. Must allocate to particular portfolios or allocate to the subaccounts following prescribed guidelines with quarterly rebalancing Upon spousal continuation, surviving spouse (age 89 or younger) continues the benefit as-is The benefit terminates 30 days after the contract anniversary on or after the oldest owner's 90th birthday; or upon death of owner or joint owner (unless spousally continued). Also, terminates upon a change for any reason of the owner, joint owner or annuitant (if a non-natural person owner), unless permission is obtained. Terminates upon the election of the component; otherwise, cannot voluntarily terminate Cannot have in conjunction with any other living benefit. As of 7/19/10, same state availability as contract except not available OR. The Guaranteed Principal Option () is not available for contracts issued in WA. Only payments received in the first 120 days are considered for the component. Owner must be annuitant, unless there is a non-natural owner. www.advsales.com Page 4 of 9 Copyright 2010 Morningstar, Inc.
