Related links Man found guilty in shooting death of code enforcement officer Web Staff KDVR Denver A jury has found an Aurora man guilty in the 2008 shooting death of a Code Enforcement Officer. Adams/Broomfield District Attorney Don Quick announced Friday that a jury found Harry Denard Williams, 23, guilty of First Degree Murder in the shooting death of Aurora Code Enforcement Officer Rodney Morales, 41. Aurora Police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the afternoon of November 13, 2008 at an apartment complex at 1961 Clinton in Adams County. Morales was shot to death while at the building on a scheduled routine inspection of the apartments as part of his duties as code enforcement officer. Williams stood accused of shooting Morales once in the chest and leaving him to die on the second floor of the building. Williams fled the scene and was located by police at a relatives house in Commerce City after an intense one week manhunt. District Attorney Don Quick states, "We are very please with the verdict in this case. It will not bring back Rodney, but it is the first step in justice being served." Williams was sentenced immediately by Judge Vincent Phelps to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
