Email: csmee@grapevine.com.au Website: www.canberramodelengineers.org.au Editor: acttraffic@hotmail.com Society News Malkara 5th to 7th August As previously circulated Malkara is coming up in August. This is the major weekend for members to display their models as the show is the biggest of its type in Canberra. Thousands get to admire your skills and our display is unique to the show. This year Secretary Greg is co-ordinating the indoor activities so it is essential you talk to him about your contribution and what space you require. If anyone needs a description sheet printed to accompany your display; the Whistle Blower editor is happy to assist in the production of same. Our outside raised track will again be in operation for the whole weekend. This year the area has been slightly modified but the track will still be in the same location. Outside arrangements are being handled by Kel Broughton so please let him know if you can help. As usual we need a lot of help to construct the track and dismantle it at the end, We need station hands, ticket sellers and general help. *****Volunteers to contact Greg Peters for inside display and Kel Broughton for raised track*****
Membership of the Society is a privilege! Being a member of CSMEE is a privilege which has to be paid for each year. Each year you are reminded by the Treasurer to pay for the privilege and this year is noooo exception! No matter how you say it : Dues are due! Dews are Dew. Dious are Diou. Don t forget you voting rights at the AGM are also suspended if you have not paid for the relevant year! Dues date is 1 July. Committee Members and those wishing to attend are reminded the next Committee meeting is 4th July, 7.30pm, just north of the south pole in the suburb of Monash!! WEB PAGE A proposal to upgrade the website by Bullseye Graphics was circulated to all committee members for discussion recently and it has been decided, for various reasons, to introduce a partial upgrade before incorporating any user friendly facilities to make bookings and payments.. RIP Jean Cashin Jean Cashin, the wife of one of our members John Cashin passed away recently. Several members of the Society led by President Peter Hateley represented all Members at her funeral at Norwood Park and our sincere condolences go out to John and his family. Happy Birthday to the President & Mrs. Hateley Information from a reliable source stated the combined ages of the happy couple to be 130!~which makes the boss a spritely 109 by my calculations. Ed Yes, the Treasurer is back in the saddle! My thanks to Greg for looking after things while I was away. With no mid month running day because of Mother's Day, income for May was low. However, as we are still managing to constrain our expenditure, our result for the month was only a little behind budget. Looking at the picture over the whole year so far, we are still well ahead of our budget, to the extent that provided June is on par with expectations, we should be able to increase our provision for the relocation to Symonston. The $2,250 received from the ARHS for Canberra Day and Easter has been allocated to the relocation. The Relocation Fund at present sits just under $15,000, and while we add to it each month, we are also drawing on it regularly. To the end of May we had spent over $18,200 from the Fund. Once the Fund is exhausted, we will need to draw on accumulated profits to fund any further work at Symonston, if we are not already operating there. Financial Report for May by Treasurer & Shekel-keeper Kevin Olds Membership subscriptions are due on 1 July, the start of our new financial year and prompt payment would be appreciated. Remember that you can't vote at the AGM in August if you are not financial. If you are paying in person, we can offer payment via Mastercard or Visa, either debit or credit card, to save having to have the cash on hand. Note this only applies to payments in person.
