The Burnet Ward Bursary WYCLIFFE COLLEGE
An Invitation to the Wycliffe College community to give to the Wycliffe College Foundation
Wycliffe College wishes to encourage the inclusion of children from all sections of society whose parents feel they can benefit from the ideals and environment of the College. Over the last ten years I have had the immense privilege and joy of helping to shape the lives of so many young people who have not only contributed to the life of our community but have gone on to make a difference to others. I would love to see this positive impact being continued, by allowing promising young people the chance to have a Wycliffe education through offering a bursary in my name. I very much hope that fond memories and a grateful appreciation of the value of a Wycliffe education will prompt you to be generous. Margie Burnet Ward (Head 2005-2015)
In order to facilitate the accessibility of the College to pupils, who would otherwise be precluded for financial reasons, the College offers significant financial support to enable pupils to benefit from a Wycliffe education. We offer bursaries because we believe wholeheartedly that the high calibre all-round education our pupils experience will develop creative, innovative and independent thinking young men and women who exhibit self-belief with a highly developed social and environmental conscience. But, we want to provide even more. Our aim is to further increase access for young people who would not otherwise have access to a first-class education. Your participation in this campaign adds much to the additional enrichment which drives Wycliffe forward. Collectively we can make a real difference to what can be achieved. We value every single gift we receive, regardless of size.
Margie Burnet Ward s impact on Wycliffe College has been immeasurable. During my time at the College she worked hard to infuse the community with the values that she herself lived by. Caring, approachable, yet always striving for excellence: these qualities came to epitomise life at Wycliffe. A truly welcoming place, where pupils are encouraged to achieve beyond what they thought themselves capable and are given every opportunity to do so. I have no doubt that this would not have been possible without the hard work and force of character of Margie Burnet Ward. During her tenure, Wycliffe College went from being a good school to a great one. I am forever grateful for the financial support I received from the Wycliffe College Foundation which enabled me to join the College and helped me become the person I am today. James O Toole (OW 1999 2007)
The Burnet Ward Bursary In August 2015, Head Margie Burnet Ward will retire following ten years of outstanding leadership. She has been passionately committed throughout her time as Head in working to provide bursaries which give promising children the opportunity to attend Wycliffe, irrespective of their background. Margie has asked that any recognition by parents and OWs of her service to Wycliffe should be through a contribution to our bursary funds. We, therefore, invite you to join us in helping to fund a Burnet Ward Bursary, to first be awarded in the Autumn of 2015, as a fitting leaving gift for a Head who has contributed so much to the school. Our initial target, is to raise 75,000 which will enable the Foundation to help fund the school fees for a pupil who would otherwise not have been able to benefit from a Wycliffe education.
