We trust that owning and driving your will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Page 2 Vehicle Warranty 1. Nature of Warranty 1.1 South Africa (a Division of Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited) warrants that the vehicle is free from defects in material and workmanship according to current industrial standards. 1.2 This warranty is: (a) Expressly in lieu of all other warranties, obligations or liabilities, whether for direct or consequential damage or otherwise; (b) For the benefit of the manufacturer of the vehicle, South Africa and the Dealer. 2. Period 2.1 This warranty becomes effective on the date of delivery of the vehicle to the purchaser and is valid for a period of one (1) year from date of delivery. Claims during the period will not extend the warranty. 2.2 This warranty remains in force notwithstanding transfer of ownership in the vehicle. 3. Claims Claims for repairs or defects can be made only at authorised Dealers and must be made immediately upon ascertaining the defect. 4. Warranty Cover The warranty covers the replacement or repair of defective parts according to technical requirements. Replaced items become the property of South Africa. 5. Cost No charge will be raised against the customer with regard to the cost of repairing or replacing defective parts in terms of the warranty, except for the cost of consumables such as oil, grease, brake fluid, and additives, etc. 6. Exclusions 6.1 This warranty does not cover damage or defects due to: (a) Repair of the vehicle by a workshop, not authorised to effect the service and/or repair; (b) Installation of parts and/or accessories, the use, of which has not been approved by South Africa; Warranty Page 1 (c) Failure by the purchaser to comply with the instructions for the operation of the vehicle as reflected in the Instruction Manual, Operating Specifications and any other documentation accompanying the vehicle on the date of delivery and/ or brought to the attention of the purchaser; (d) Failure by the purchaser to comply with the service

schedule. In this regard it should be noted that, South Africa reserves the right to reject any warranty claims and/or repudiate the warranty cover if services are not carried out within 1 000 kilometres of the specified service interval; (e) Maintenance and normal wear and tear including, but not necessarily limited to: (i) Brake and clutch linings, fan belts, drive belts, V-belts, wiper blades and injectors; (ii) Standard services and oil changes, including oils, gaskets, filters and other materials used either during or after the services such as oil and grease; (iii) Light bulbs and fuses; (iv) Wheel balancing, front and rear wheel alignment, the frequency of which depends largely on driving techniques such as rapid starts, stops, tyre skidding, collision with potholes and kerbs; (v) Mechanical adjustments to items such as brakes, clutch and door locks; (vi) Windscreen and window glass breakage after the expiry of one (1) month from the date of purchase of the vehicle or after it has covered a distance of 1 000 kilometres, whichever occurs first; (vii) Tyres. Claims must be referred to the manufacturer of the tyres; (viii) Batteries which are guaranteed by the manufacturer of the battery for a period of twelve (12) months. This does not apply to cracked batteries for which a claim may be submitted to Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited, provided such claim occurs within 7 000 kilometres. Claims after 7 000 kilometres will not be accepted; (ix) Remote control batteries; Warranty Page 2 (x) The effects of industrial pollution, corrosion damage brought about by weather conditions or damage to paintwork and chrome in consequence of climatic, thermal, chemical or mechanical influences; (f) Improper handling or misuse, including but not limited to any form of competition; (g) Poor road and adverse driving conditions resulting in damage to components which include, but are not necessarily limited to, oil sump, rims and tyres; (h) Modifications, conversions, tuning, upgrading and fitment of non-approved after-market accessories. This exclusion applies notwithstanding compliance with any guidelines relating to modifications issued by the Manufacturer, South Africa and Dealer; (i) Accident or impact damage. 6.2 This warranty further excludes: (a) Indirect and/or consequential losses which include, but are not necessarily limited to, charges incidental to breakdowns (e.g. hotel costs), loss of personal effects and clothing, loss of income, hire of alternative transport, etc.; (b) Any Common Law rights and remedies. 6.3 The exclusions survive the termination of the warranty, for whatever reason.

Warranty Page 3 Vehicle Body Warranty 1. Nature of Warranty 1.1 South Africa warrants the body of the against corrosion and defective paintwork. 1.2 This warranty is: (a) Expressly in lieu of all other warranties, obligations or liabilities, whether for direct or consequential damage or otherwise; (b) For the benefit of the manufacturer of the vehicle, South Africa and the Dealer. 2. Period 2.1 The warranty becomes effective on the date of delivery of the vehicle to the purchaser and is valid for a period of: (a) Three (3) years after the date of delivery in respect of Paint Defects; (b) Twelve (12) years after the date of delivery in respect of body corrosion resulting in the body metal becoming rusted through. 2.2 Claims during the warranty period will not extend the warranty. 2.3 This warranty remains in force notwithstanding transfer of ownership in the vehicle. 3. Claims 3.1 Claims for repairs or defects can be made, only at authorised Dealers and must be made immediately upon ascertaining the defect. 3.2 If a claim is accepted during the period of the warranty, the defect will be rectified at panel shops nominated or recognised by South Africa. 4. Extent of Cover The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective parts according to technical requirements. Any replaced items become the property of South Africa. 5. Cost No charge will be raised against the customer with regard to the cost of repairing or replacing defective parts in terms of the warranty. Warranty Page 4 6. Exclusions 6.1 This warranty does not cover claims in respect of corrosion or defective paintwork if: (a) The defective paintwork or corrosion is attributable to, or is in respect of: (i) Accident, impact, external or mechanical damage (including stone chipping); (ii) Replacement parts not supplied by South Africa; (iii) The effects of industrial pollution, corrosion damage brought about by weather conditions or damage to paintwork and chrome in consequence of climatic, thermal, chemical or mechanical influences; (b) When the defective paintwork, corrosion or rusting is detected, there is a delay in lodging the claim. (c) The vehicle has been serviced, repaired and/or maintained by a workshop other than by an Dealer. (d) Failure to comply with the instructions for the operation of the vehicle as reflected in the Instruction Manual, Operating Specifications and any other documentation accompanying the vehicle on the date of delivery and brought to the attention of the purchaser. (e) Any form of body rust proofing has been applied after

the purchase of the vehicle. It should be noted that the vehicle has been protected by the manufacturer, against body corrosion and no further corrosion or rust proofing treatment is necessary. (f) The body of the vehicle has been modified, converted or altered. This exclusion applies notwithstanding compliance with any guidelines relating to modifications issued by the manufacturer, South Africa and/or the Dealer. 6.2 This warranty further excludes: (a) Indirect and/or consequential losses; (b) Common Law rights and remedies. 6.2 The exclusions survive the termination of the warranty, for whatever reason. Warranty Page 5 Genuine and Remanufactured Parts Warranty 1. Nature of Warranty 1.1 South Africa warrants that the purchased item is free from defects in material and workmanship according to current industrial standards. 1.2 This warranty is: (a) Expressly in lieu of all other warranties, obligations or liabilities, whether for direct or consequential damage or otherwise; (b) For the benefit of the manufacturer of the purchased item, South Africa and the Dealer. 2. Period 2.1 The warranty becomes effective on the date of delivery of the purchased item to the purchaser and is valid for a period of twelve (12) months irrespective of kilometres covered by the vehicle during this period. 2.2 This warranty applies in respect of the fitment of purchased items after the New Vehicle Warranty expires. 3. Claims Claims for repairs or defects can be made only at authorised Dealers and must be made immediately upon ascertaining the defect. 4. Warranty Cover The warranty covers the replacement or repair of defective parts according to technical requirements. Replaced items become the property of South Africa. 5. Cost The warranty is limited to the replacement cost of the purchased item. Removal and/or installation costs are excluded. 6. Exclusions 6.1 The warranty does not cover repair or replacement of the purchased item due to: (a) The installation of parts, the use, of which has not been approved by South Africa; (b) The repair of the purchased item by a workshop not authorised by South Africa for service and repair; (c) Modification and/or alteration of the purchased item in a manner not approved by South Africa; (d) Normal wear and tear; Warranty Page 6 (e) Improper handling or misuse; (f) Purchased items fitted to motorsport vehicles, vehicles used in competitive events and vehicles with

synthetic bodies; (g) Accident or impact damage. 6.2 This warranty further excludes: (a) Indirect and/or consequential losses which include, but are not necessarily limited to, charges incidental to breakdowns (e.g. hotel costs), loss of personal effects and clothing, loss of income, hire of alternative transport, etc. (b) Any Common Law rights and remedies. 6.2 The exclusions survive the termination of the warranty, for whatever reason. Warranty Page 7 Freeway Plan What is Freeway Plan? Freeway Plan is a comprehensive maintenance plan which covers services, wear and tear items, and certain repairs. Every new is sold with a standard 5 year/100 000 kilometres Freeway Plan to afford you, the customer, peace of mind motoring. Certain items such as tyres, body, trim, paint work, or accidental damage are excluded from Freeway Plan. Please read this booklet for further information on the Freeway Plan Maintenance Agreement. Driver/Owner s Obligations: Quick Reference Please take note of the following important rules and requirements. Adherence to these requirements will ensure that the Freeway Plan is not invalidated and that you enjoy the maximum benefit from the maintenance plan: Servicing on time All services must be done in strict accordance with the specified service intervals reflected in the Service Book. In this regard the onboard computer should only be regarded as a reminder. Service/repairs at Dealer All services and repairs must be carried out by an Dealer. Modifications/tuning Unauthorised modification, tuning, upgrading or overhaul to the engine/suspension will invalidate the Freeway Plan. Only P&A approved kits obtained from, and fitted by an Dealer is allowed. Accident damage Damage caused to the vehicle s body components must be repaired by an Approved Motor Body Repairer. While accident damage is not covered by Freeway Plan, you must report the incident to Freeway Plan. Change of ownership Upon change of ownership, please ensure that your details have been registered with South Africa. South Africa may require that the 80 Point approved quality check be completed by an Dealer. Note: South Africa reserves the right not to service the vehicle under Freeway Plan, should South Africa be unable to verify the identity of the registered owner and correct its records. Freeway Plan Page 8 Freeway Plan Operating Procedures

1. Authorisation Procedure For All Services and Maintenance Work Your vehicle use will be monitored by Freeway Plan (AFP). The AFP is administered by South Africa. The procedure is as follows: 1.1 For your convenience and to avoid unnecessary delays make an appointment with an authorised Dealer to have your vehicle serviced and/or repaired. Note: Allow sufficient time (approximately seven days if possible). 1.2 On delivery of your vehicle to the Dealer remind the service receptionist that the vehicle is covered by the AFP. 1.3 The Dealer will obtain authorisation from South Africa to proceed with the service and/or necessary repairs. 2. Payment 2.1 The cost of AFP cover is: 2.1.1 Included in the purchase price of the vehicle where the AFP is standard; or 2.1.2 Charged separately where the AFP cover is extended in terms of paragraph 11. 2.2 On payment of the purchase price of the vehicle or extended cover cost (as the case may be), the AFP contribution is invested in the AFP fund. The AFP fund applies the AFP contributions and interest on the contributions to meet its obligations in terms of this Agreement. 2.3 You are required to approve and sign any repair order/job card relating to maintenance, services and repairs performed on your vehicle. The repair order/job card should be approved and signed at the time of the collection of the vehicle. 2.4 You are responsible for payment of the cost to an Dealer in respect of work performed on the vehicle which work is not covered, or is excluded under the AFP. Payment of such costs should be settled by arrangement with the Dealer concerned. Page 9 3. Emergency Repairs Every effort should be made to obtain advance authorisation prior to servicing or repairing the vehicle. Advance authorisation is usually obtained from AFP by your servicing Dealer. Where it is not possible to obtain authorisation in respect of emergency repairs required over a weekend (or at any time) you should contact your servicing Dealer or nearest Dealer on the first working day following the repair so that the repair can be ratified and recorded. 4. AFP Cover 4.1 Provided payment in respect of the AFP Cover has been made, the AFP will commence on the date of first registration of the vehicle and will continue for a period of 5 years or a distance of 100 000 kilometres, whichever occurs first. The extension of the initial AFP Cover is dealt with in paragraph 11. 4.2 The AFP contract shall include: 4.2.1 Standard services required on the vehicle as specified by the manufacturer; 4.2.2 Adjustments in accordance with the intervals specified by South Africa. Adjustments falling outside the intervals specified by South Africa will not be covered by the AFP; 4.2.3 Maintenance due to normal wear and tear. In this regard South Africa s maintenance specification schedule will apply, as amended from time to time. Maintenance falling outside the specification schedule will be for your account. 4.3 The driver/owner shall be obliged to inform AFP should the factory installed odometer be out of order, faulty, unsealed or tampered with. In the event that the driver/owner fails to notify AFP of the faulty odometer and/or fails to repair it within a reasonable time, AFP shall be entitled to estimate

the number of kilometres covered by the vehicle in any period that the odometer may be out of order. 4.4 Should a scheduled service coincide with the full contracted AFP kilometres, such service shall be authorized provided it is performed within 1 500 kilometres and within three (3) months of the agreement s expiry. AFP shall only cover the cost of scheduled service items. 5. Exclusions The AFP cover shall exclude the following: 5.1 Repair work to the vehicle as a result of damage to the vehicle caused by an accident, whether such accident or damage is covered by insurance or not; Freeway Plan Page 10 5.2 Engine tuning not in accordance with the specified timing levels in South Africa s maintenance specification schedules; 5.3 The maintenance of a telephone kit or similar cellular accessories fitted to the vehicle; 5.4 The maintenance of any vehicle tracking device, anti-hijack device or a similar device; 5.5 The prevention of rust treatment; 5.6 Rust inspection; 5.7 Paint and trim preservation treatment; 5.8 Body cleaning and treatment; 5.9 Engine cleaning or treatment; 5.10 Any other cost incurred in repairing deterioration or damage to the paint, body, trim and related items not covered by the manufacturer s warranty; 5.11 Damage resulting from poor road conditions, misuse, adverse driving conditions necessitating repairs, adjustment or replacement of components or damage which arises from circumstances beyond the control of the manufacturer; 5.12 Fuel consumption of the vehicle; 5.13 Top-up fluids between specified services; 5.14 Towing of the vehicle in the event of a breakdown or an accident; 5.15 Replacement of windscreens, windows, headlights, tail lights, lenses and other plastic or glass on the vehicle; 5.16 Replacement of any item or part missing from the vehicle; 5.17 The replacement or repair of any soft -top canvas or frame of any cabriolet model; 5.18 Sunroof pane (glass/perspex); 5.19 Repairs and maintenance of the vehicle occasioned by negligence of the driver and/or owner, howsoever arising; 5.20 Repair work arising from the failure of the driver/owner to comply with the obligations and warranties referred to in paragraph 7; 5.21 Service and maintenance at unauthorised Dealers, except in emergency situations where the service and/or maintenance has been authorized by AFP; 5.22 Adjustments and/or maintenance in excess of South Africa s maintenance specification schedule which may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of South Africa; Freeway Plan Page 11 5.23 Indirect and/or consequential losses, which included but are not necessarily limited to charges incidental to breakdowns (e.g. hotel costs) loss of personal effects and clothing, loss of income, hire of alternative transport, etc.; 5.24 Any common law rights and remedies; 5.25 Repairs and maintenance arising from any form

of competition. Note: It is recorded that the exclusions survive the termination of this Agreement, for whatever reason. 6. AFP Obligation The obligations of AFP in terms of the standard AFP contract or extension cover are reflected in this Agreement. 7. Driver s/owner s Obligation 7.1 The driver/owner shall ensure that: 7.1.1 No modification, tuning, upgrading or overhaul to the engine/suspension is made or any accessory to the vehicle is installed which is likely to increase or which has the effect of increasing the overall cost of the maintenance of the vehicle; 7.1.2 Any repair/maintenance work performed on the vehicle shall only be attended to by an Authorized Servicing Dealer; 7.1.3 He/she informs the Servicing Dealer that the vehicle is covered by the AFP when the vehicle is delivered for maintenance or repairs in terms of this policy document; 7.1.4 Any accident damage be undertaken by an Approved Motor Body Repairer. 7.2 The driver/owner warrants that the vehicle: 7.2.1 Shall be driven in a manner recommended by the manufacturer and for the purpose for which it was designed; 7.2.2 Shall not be abused or neglected; 7.2.3 Shall not tow any item which is outside the manufacturer s specification as contained in the owner s manual; 7.2.4 Shall not be used for the purpose of racing, pace making, rallying, reliability trials or speed testing; 7.2.5 Shall not be overloaded either by goods or by persons. Freeway Plan Page 12 7.3 The driver/owner further warrants that: 7.3.1 The odometer in the vehicle shall not be adjusted, reset or tampered with; 7.3.2 Only genuine parts and/or approved accessories will be installed in the vehicle; 7.3.3 South Africa and/or its Dealers shall be granted reasonable access to inspect the vehicle from time to time; 7.3.4 The vehicle shall be serviced in accordance with the intervals specified in the Owner s Service Handbook. Note: Failure to adhere to the contents of this Agreement could invalidate, in the sole discretion of South Africa, both the AFP cover and vehicle warranty. 8. Maintenance 8.1 All maintenance and servicing of the vehicle shall be effected in the Republic of South Africa, Botswana or Namibia. 8.2 Any servicing or maintenance undertaken outside the Republic of South Africa shall only be performed with the prior approval of AFP. Where such work is performed outside the Republic of South Africa, AFP shall be liable to pay an amount not exceeding the cost which would have been incurred by AFP had such work been performed in the Republic of South Africa. 8.3 The repairs and maintenance shall be effected up to the limit authorised by AFP. Any amount in excess of the authorised limit shall be payable by you. 9. Change of Ownership/Disposal 9.1 The AFP cover shall be transferable to the purchaser of the vehicle if the vehicle is sold prior to expiry of the contract

period and mileage limit applicable to your AFP contract, subject to the conditions contained in paragraph 9.2 and 9.3. 9.2 In the event that you dispose of the vehicle or cease to be the owner, purchaser or lessee of the vehicle before expiry of the AFP contract you shall immediately notify South Africa in writing and supply South Africa with the name and address of the new owner, purchaser or lessee of the vehicle. These details must be changed using any of the means described in paragraph 12.2. 9.3 Upon change of ownership South Africa may require that the 80 point quality check has been completed by an Dealer. AFP shall lapse if South Africa, in its sole discretion, is not satisfied with the condition of the vehicle after such inspection. Freeway Plan Page 13 9.4 In the event of the vehicle having been stolen, hijacked, destroyed or damaged beyond repair and consequently been written off by an insurer before the expiry of the AFP contract, you shall immediately notify South Africa in writing of this fact and the AFP contract shall be deemed to have been cancelled upon the date of such occurrence. 9.5 No credit or refund will be given on AFP Standard contracts in the circumstances contemplated in paragraphs 9.2, 9.3 and 9.4 above. 9.6 You shall be entitled to a pro-rata credit on the cost of an AFP extension contract in the circumstances contemplated in paragraph 9.4 above, provided you purchase another vehicle from an Dealer. 10. Damage by accident 10.1 Damage caused to vehicles shall only be repaired by Approved Motor Body Repairers, failing which the AFP cover shall lapse. A list of Approved Motor Body Repairers can be obtained from your nearest Dealer. 10.2 The owner/driver shall immediately notify AFP of any accidents that the vehicle may have been involved in, and of the damage to the vehicle. (See paragraph 12.2 for AFP contact details.) The servicing and maintenance plan shall be suspended by AFP until such time as the vehicle has been repaired. Reinstatement of the AFP cover shall be in the sole discretion of South Africa. 10.3 AFP shall have the right but shall not be obliged to inspect the vehicle prior to the lifting of the suspension of the AFP cover. Notwithstanding the reinstatement of the AFP cover, AFP shall have no liability in respect of the AFP cover if its obligations are rendered more onerous as a result of the accident and/or repairs. 10.4 South Africa shall have the right, in its discretion, to terminate the AFP contract if you fail to notify AFP of any accident and the details of any repairs as a result thereof. 11. Extension of contract 11.1 You shall have the option to extend the AFP cover subject to the payment of the AFP extended option cost applicable at the time of the extension. 11.2 The AFP can be extended from 100 000 kilometres/5 years to a maximum of 200 000 kilometres/5 years (whichever occurs first) from the date of original registration. (Contracts cannot be extended beyond 5 years from the date of original registration). 11.3 Applications for extension must be lodged prior to the expiry of any existing AFP contract.

Freeway Plan Page 14 Freeway Plan 11.4 Quotations for the extension of AFP contracts are available from any Dealer. 11.5 South Africa shall be entitled, in its sole discretion, to refuse an application for extension. 12. Assist is a programme whereby South Africa and its Dealer Network pledge to provide you with peace of mind motoring by providing the infrastructure to support a countrywide emergency service 24 hours a day, every day. The programme is known as Assist and operates via 086 043 4838 within the borders of South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia and Botswana. The objective of the programme is to provide on the spot roadside assistance offered by a fully equipped and trained technician. The primary focus is to get you mobile in your own vehicle. Where a roadside repair cannot be effected and the vehicle needs to be towed to the nearest dealer, you and the occupants of the vehicle will be transported to a

place of safety in the dealer s roadside assistance vehicle. The benefits are subject to the terms and conditions reflected in this booklet, the warranty in respect of the vehicle and/or maintenance plan. Benefits Your benefits are the following if assistance is required as a result of a mechanical or electrical breakdown (which includes the circumstances referred to in paragraph 1.1 to 1.4 below): 1.1 Flat tyres 1.2 Flat batteries 1.3 Fuel shortage 1.4 Vehicle keys locked inside the vehicle The call out to attend to the above is covered by Assist. All other costs are for your account, unless these are covered by the Warranty and/or Maintenance Plan (where applicable) in respect of the vehicle. Page 16 2. Courtesy Transport Where your vehicle cannot be repaired at the point of breakdown to render it mobile, you are entitled to courtesy transport if the breakdown is within 100 kilometres of your normal place of residence, provided that such transportation will only be arranged to one address. 3. Hotel Accommodation/Car Rental Where your vehicle cannot be repaired at the point of breakdown to render it mobile, and the breakdown occurs further than 100 kilometres from your normal place of residence, you are entitled to elect one of the following benefits: 3.1 Hotel Accommodation Assist will arrange and pay up to two (2) days towards the South Africa preferred hotel accommodation for you and the occupants of the vehicle. 3.2 Car Rental If you prefer not to elect the Hotel Accommodation referred to above, Assist will arrange and pay for car rental for a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours. This arrangement will be subject to you accepting the standard terms and conditions of the car rental company. South Africa will reimburse the rental company on your behalf in respect of the rental charges only. Any charges relating to insurance, fuel and/or any other obligations reflected in the rental agreement will be for your account. 4. Vehicle Repatriation 4.1 Where the breakdown has occurred further than 100 kilometres from your normal place of residence, Assist will arrange and pay to collect your vehicle and return it to your home after it has been repaired. 4.2 Where the breakdown has occurred within 100 kilometres from your normal place of residence, Assist will arrange and pay for the vehicle to be collected and repaired at the dealership closest to your place of residence. 5. Vehicle Safe Storage If required due to overnight delay, Assist will arrange and pay for the first forty-eight (48) hours of safe storage of the vehicle. Exclusions and Limitations 1. There will be no obligation on Assist to provide the services in the following circumstances: 1.1 Repair work to the vehicle as a result of damage caused by

an accident, whether such accident damage is covered by insurance or not. Assist Page 17 1.2 Damage resulting from poor road conditions, misuse, adverse driving conditions necessitating repairs, adjustment of components or damage which arises from circumstances beyond the control of the manufacturer. 1.3 Towing of the vehicle in the event of an accident. 1.4 Repairs and maintenance of the vehicle occasioned by negligence of you or the driver. 1.5 Repair work arising from the failure of you or the driver to comply with terms and conditions of this booklet, the warranty and/or the maintenance programme (where applicable). 2. Exclusions 2.1 The Assist Programme specifically excludes: 2.1.1 Indirect and consequential losses which include, but are not necessarily, limited to loss of personal effects and clothing and loss of income. 2.1.2 Any common-law rights and remedies. 2.1.3 Any loss or damage arising from wrongful acts or omissions of the Assist representatives. 2.2 It is recorded that the exclusions survive the termination of the Assist programme, for whatever reason. Period of Benefit 1. The Assist benefits will be provided from the date of the first registration of the vehicle and will continue for a period of five (5) years/100 000 kilometres, whichever occurs first. 2. After expiry of the period referred to above, there will be no further obligation on Assist to provide the benefit in terms of the booklet.
