Motivation The fact that intangible assets are seen as a joint input and therefore very (completely) mobile is common starting point for both academic research and tax policy design In fact, some of the tax policy decisions might create a link between the location of tangible and intangible assets (e.g. rules which use the ratio between passive and active income) Furthermore, there might be non-tax reasons why intangible and tangible assets need to be located together (e.g. legal protection, principal agents problems,...)
