Addendum to HSBC Consumer Checking Terms & Charges Disclosure Effective July 24, 2017, Select Credit for Overdraft Protection will be renamed to Select Credit. All references to Select Credit for Overdraft Protection within your Terms & Charges will be referred to as Select Credit. In addition, the Select Credit for Overdraft Protection paragraph in footnote 6 will be revised to read as follows: 6 - Select Credit: The information about the costs and benefits of this credit product described is accurate as of 07/24/2017. After the Introductory period a variable Cash Advance APR of 8.99%, 12.99% or 16.99%, depending on your creditworthiness, will apply to all Cash Advance transactions (electronic/telephonic methods, checks, and balance transfers); and a variable Overdraft APR of 18.99% will apply to Overdrafts from qualifying linked HSBC checking account(s). It s important that you understand exactly how your Choice Checking account works. We ve created this summary to explain the fees and some key terms of your account. ELIGIBILITY RATE INFORMATION The Choice Checking account is available to consumers who have a U.S. personal related combined deposit and investment balance of at least $1,500 or a recurring direct deposit from a third party to a Choice Checking account at least once per monthly cycle. Customers using a stand-alone statement with a requested statement date are assessed on the last business day of the month. All other customers are assessed on their statement date. Example: When a check is presented for payment from your account and the money in your account is not available for use, we will return or pay it and charge a fee. However, if your available balance at the end of the business day is overdrawn by $10 or less, there is no fee. Please see HOW DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS WORK section to learn more about funds availability. HSBC will only charge you a maximum of 3 combined NSF or UNA fees per day. $0 $10 $10 or 4% We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM and everyday debit card transactions unless you are using an overdraft protection plan to cover these transactions. An overdraft protection plan with available funds is necessary to have these transactions paid. Up to $10 maximum per day. 6 A fee is charged to your HSBC Select Credit for Overdraft Protection Account each day an advance is made to pay overdrafts to your HSBC checking account. For complete terms and conditions, see the HSBC Select Credit for Overdraft Protection Account Summary of Terms. $10 or 4%, 6 whichever is greater, of the overdraft advanced to your HSBC checking account, will be charged to your Platinum MasterCard credit card Account. For complete terms and conditions, see the applicable HSBC credit card Summary of Terms for the Platinum MasterCard or the Platinum MasterCard with Rewards credit card. *In the event you link an HSBC Premier World MasterCard credit card or an HSBC Advance MasterCard credit card to your HSBC checking account as overdraft protection, the overdraft fee structure associated with such cards would apply. STATEMENT SERVICES Statements Monthly A record of your transactions is mailed or made available periodically. Recordcheck Service Monthly Image Cancelled Check Return Fee No Cost Copy of Item or Statement $5 For each item or statement. $5 Statement Reconstruction $40 If you choose this service, the Bank will keep a record of your cancelled checks instead of providing image copies of the front of cancelled checks with your statement. If you need a copy of a cancelled check, the Bank will mail it to you. A reconstruction fee may apply if you request a total reconstruction (copies of all checks and/or statements) for one or more statements. Per month for Image of Cancelled Check Return Service, which is charged even if no cancelled check images are returned. Per hour plus copy fees. A total reconstruction provides copies of all checks and/or statements for one or more statements. Interested Party Statement $5 For each statement sent to a third party at the customer s request. OTHER ACCOUNT RELATED FEES Account Closing $25 If your account is closed within 180 days of opening. Balance Verification Letter $20 $5 For each original letter provided verifying your deposit account(s) with us. For each additional copy. Chargeback $10 For each check or other item that you deposit that is returned to us unpaid. Checkbook Supplies Varies Legal Papers $100 Reconcilement $50 Charges for personal checks, deposit slips or other banking supplies varies based on items ordered. For each court order, restraining notice, levy or other legal paper that requires us to put a hold on your account or to pay out money from your account to someone else. Per hour if you cannot balance your statement and do not bring it to our attention before you received your next statement, we may charge you an hourly fee to locate the error. QUALIFYING BALANCES Personal Related Combined Deposit and Investment Balance Qualified Personal Balances for Choice Checking Include Personal accounts with qualified personal balances will be related to your Choice Checking account upon your request. Related personal accounts that close during the monthly cycle will not be included in the related combined balance for that cycle. Average ledger balance in your HSBC Bank USA, N.A. personal checking, savings, Trust and/or Certificate of Deposit accounts for the monthly cycle. HOW DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS WORK The Order in Which Deposits and Withdrawals Are Processed When Your Deposits Are Available (Funds Availability 8 ) Generally, for each Business Day we will: First: add deposits and credits to your account. Second: subtract from available balance account withdrawals performed at the branch from lowest to highest dollar amount. Third: subtract from available balance transaction amounts that are authorized based on your available balance at the time you performed the transaction in lowest to highest dollar amount. Transactions include everyday debit card transactions, ATM withdrawals and online transactions. (Note: The amount authorized for debit card transactions might vary from the actual amount of the transaction that posts to your account at settlement.) Fourth: subtract all other items in lowest to highest dollar amount. Cash deposit with teller or at ATM: Same calendar day the Bank receives the deposit. Funds transfers between HSBC Bank USA, N.A. accounts in the same name: Same calendar day the Bank receives the deposit. Electronic direct deposit/wire transfer: Same Business Day the Bank receives the deposit. Check deposit with teller or at ATM: Cash withdrawals of the full deposit amount may not be available until the third Business Day after the day of your deposit. The first $200 from a deposit of one or more non HSBC checks will always be made available on the first Business Day after the day of your deposit. The remainder of your deposit will be available for paying items no later than the second Business Day after the day of your deposit. In some situations, we may notify you after your deposit is made that your funds will generally be available by the sixth Business Day after the day of your deposit. A Business Day is every day except Saturday, Sunday and Federal holidays. 1 BANK RULES This document is part of the Rules For Consumer Deposit Accounts (the Rules ). In case of inconsistency between this document and the Rules, this document governs all inconsistencies except for those in HOW DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS WORK which shall be governed by the Rules. 2 Cards referenced are issued by HSBC Bank USA, National Association ( HSBC Bank USA, N.A. ). 3 Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) Facility Service Charges apply to your account when using your Debit MasterCard card or ATM card. MasterCard and the MasterCard brand mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated. 4 Currency Conversion on Foreign Transactions If you effect a transaction on your HSBC Bank Consumer Checking or Savings account at an EFT facility with your Debit MasterCard card or ATM card in a currency other than U.S. dollars or effect a transaction in U.S. dollars outside the United States, MasterCard International Incorporated ( Card Association ) will convert the transaction into a U.S. dollar amount. A currency conversion will occur even if the transaction is made in U.S. dollars. Card Association will act in accordance with the operating regulations or foreign currency conversion procedures then in effect. Currently the currency conversion rate used to determine the transaction amount in U.S. dollars for such transactions is either a government-mandated rate or a wholesale rate determined by Card Association for the processing cycle in which the transaction is processed. The currency conversion rate used by Card Association on the processing date may differ from the rate that would have been used on the transaction date or cardholder statement posting date. 5 Foreign Transaction Fee* If you effect a transaction on your HSBC Bank Consumer Checking or Savings account at an EFT facility with your Debit MasterCard card or ATM card outside the United States, the transaction amount is further increased by a percentage established from time to time by us. *This Foreign Transaction Fee does not apply to transactions using your Jade by HSBC Premier World Debit MasterCard card or HSBC Premier World Debit MasterCard card. After the Introductory Period, a variable Purchase APR of 13.24%, 17.24% or 23.24%, depending on your creditworthiness, will apply to credit card purchases. After the Introductory Period, a variable Balance Transfer APR of 13.24%, 17.24% or 23.24%, depending on your creditworthiness, will apply to balance transfers and credit card checks. The variable Cash APR applies to cash advances and overdrafts and is 25.24%. Your APRs may increase to the variable Penalty APR of 30.24% if you fail to make a minimum payment to us when due. These APRs will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate. For each billing cycle, variable APRs are calculated by adding a specified amount ( Spread ) to the U.S. Prime Rate published in the Money Rates table of The Wall Street Journal that is in effect on the last day of the month ( Prime Rate ). If the Prime Rate changes, the new APRs will take effect on the first day of your billing cycle beginning in the next month. The Minimum Interest Charge is $1.00.
