DEPOSIT 1. Why is a deposit necessary when applying for electricity supply? It s a security against any liability (if any) i.e SESB property or outstanding bill when consumer terminate supply contract agreement. The government has passed the Electricity Supply Act whereby SESB is allowed to collect a deposit of two (2) months of the customer s electricity usage. This amount is calculated based on an average of six (6) months electricity usage. The calculation is done automatically by SESB s Customer Care Management System (CCMS). 2. Why is the deposit based on two (2) months of electricity usage? Customer will be billed 30 days from the date of connection. After issuance of the bill, customers are given another 30 days to make payment. The deposit acts as a surety for the 60 days of electricity usage. 3. How is the deposit for new accounts calculated? Guideline to Estimated Initial Deposit OPC and LPC for new accounts are calculated as follows:- a) For OPC Account i.e tariff DM, CM1, and ID1. i. Estimated monthly kwh = Maximum Demand (kw) x Average hours x No. of Days (30) x Average Load Factor. ii. Estimated Initial Deposit = Estimated monthly kwh x Tariff Rate x 2months. -Average hours for tariff DM and ID1 =12 hours, whereas for tariff CM1 =10 hours. -Average Load Factor for tariff DM =0.3, whereas for tariff CM1, and ID1 =0.6. b) For LPC Account i.e tariff CM2, ID2, CM3 and ID3 and also for OPC Account where application for electricity supply is more than 50 kva i) Estimated monthly kwh = Calculation done by Professional Consultant at PD9 can be used. ii) Estimated Initial Deposit : 1) For OPC Account = Estimated monthly kwh x Tariff Rate x 2 months 2) For LPC Account = ( Estimated month kw (kw x 75%) x RM15) + (Estimated monthly kwh x Tariff Rate) x 2 months

4. SESB only accept payment of deposit by cash? For deposits less than RM30,000.00, customers are encouraged to pay in cash. For deposits more than RM30,000.00, a bank guarantee is preferred. 5. Will SESB reimburse the customer if the monthly electricity usage reduces? Through CCMS, SESB will (upon request) reimburse the customer if the average of two (2) months bill is less than the amount of deposit paid. 6. If the customer s average electricity usage is more than the deposit paid, will the customer be required to pay an additional deposit? If the average of two (2) months bill is more than the amount of deposit paid, customers are required to pay the additional deposit. Customers will be given a grace period of seven (7) days to pay the additional deposit. Payment can be made at SESB office. 7. Why deposit amount vary? The deposit amounts vary based on the number of electrical installations in the home and two (2) months estimated electricity usage.

8. Can I ask for a refund? The customer is the rightful owner of the deposit. The deposit will be refunded if the customer terminates or transfers the account. The customer must go to SESB office as stated in the bill and bring along the original receipt of the deposit. If the original receipt is lost or misplaced, the customer is required to fill in the Lost Deposit Receipt Declaration Form. SESB will reimburse the deposit in cash (if amount is less than RM400) or by cheque (if amount is more than RM400) after deducting any outstanding amounts (if any). 9. Will SESB issue interest on the deposit paid by the customer? SESB will give a 2.5% rebate on the deposit paid by the customer which will be credited yearly into the customer s January bill. 10.Who is exempted from deposit payment? Deposit payment exemptions are for:- i. Government accounts (Excluding quarters under personal name) ii. SESB staff [limited to one (1) premises only] Note:- The above parties are NOT exempted from payment of stamp duty. 11.How may deposits be claimed if the registered owner is deceased? If the registered customer is deceased, a next-of-kin can claim the deposit. He/she must forward the Indemnity Bond Form or Letter of Authorization from the court and death certificate of the registered customer to the SESB office as stated in the bill. For enquiries, customers may contact SESB office at the telephone number stated in the Bill.

WANG CAGARAN 1. Kenapa pelanggan dikenakan pembayaran wang cagaran ketika membuat permohonan bekalan? Bayaran ini adalah merupakan cagaran keatas apa-apa liabiliti (jika ada) i.e kerosakan hakmilik SESB atau hutang tertunggak bila pengguna menamatkan kontrak. Akta Bekalan Elektrik Malaysia yang diluluskan oleh Kerajaan memperuntukkan SESB untuk mendapatkan wang cagaran daripada pelanggan bersamaan dengan anggaran dua (2) bulan penggunaan elektrik. Jumlah ini dikira berdasarkan purata penggunaan elektrik enam (6) bulan terakhir. Pengiraan amaun cagaran dibuat secara automatik melalui sistem pembilan elektronik SESB, iaitu Customer Care Management System (CCMS). 2. Kenapa wang cagaran dikira untuk tempoh penggunaan dua (2) bulan elektrik? Apabila pelanggan dibekalkan elektrik, pelanggan akan dibilkan setelah 30 hari menggunakan elektrik. Dari tarikh pelanggan dibilkan, pelanggan diberi 30 hari lagi untuk menjelaskan pembayaran. Wang pendahuluan yang diterima daripada pengguna adalah sebagai cagaran bagi penggunaan elektrik selama 60 hari tersebut. 3. Bagaimanakah wang cagaran dikira untuk akaun baru? Garis Panduan bagi pengiraan wang cagaran permulaan adalah seperti berikut:- a) Bagi akaun OPC iaitu tarif DM, CM1, dan ID1. i) Anggaran kwh bulanan = Maximum Demand (kw) x Average hours x No. of Days (30) x Average Load Factor ii) Anggaran Wang Cagaran Permulaan = Anggaran kwh bulanan x Kadar Tarif x 2 bulan. - Average hours bagi tarif DM, ID1 = 12 jam, manakala bagi tarif CM1 = 10 jam. - Average Load Factor bagi tarif DM = 0.3, manakala bagi tarif CM1, dan ID1. = 0.6. b) Bagi akaun LPC iaitu tarif CM2, ID2, CM3dan ID3 dan juga bagi akaun OPC yang mana permohonan bekalan elektrik melebihi 50 kva i) Anggaran kwh bulanan = Telah dikira oleh Konsultan Yang Bertauliah di borang PD9 dan anggaran tersebut boleh digunakan sebagai data bagi tujuan pengiraan

ii) Anggaran Wang Cagaran Permulaan : 1) Bagi Akaun OPC = Anggaran kwh bulanan X Kadar Tarif x 2 bulan 2) Bagi Akaun LPC = (Anggaran kw bulanan (kw x 75 x RM15 ) + (Anggaran kwh bulanan x Kadar) x 2 bulan 4. Adakah SESB hanya menerima pembayaran wang cagaran secara tunai sahaja? Para pelanggan digalakkan untuk membayar wang cagaran secara tunai sekiranya jumlah wang cagaran kurang daripada RM30,000.00. Sebaliknya, para pelanggan adalah digalakkan untuk menyediakan wang cagaran dengan kaedah jaminan bank sekiranya jumlah wang cagaran melebihi RM30,000.00. 5. Adakah SESB akan memulangkan wang cagaran jika penggunaan elektrik bulanan berkurangan? Melalui CCMS, SESB akan (atas permintaan pelanggan) memulangkan lebihan wang cagaran kepada pelanggan jika purata dua (2) bulan bil mereka kurang daripada jumlah cagaran sedia ada. 6. Bagaimana jika purata dua (2) bulan bil elektrik pengguna lebih daripada wang cagaran? Adakah pengguna perlu menambah wang cagaran? Sekiranya purata dua (2) bulan bil elektrik lebih daripada wang cagaran sedia ada, pelanggan akan diminta oleh SESB membayar wang cagaran tambahan. Pelanggan akan di beri tempoh masa tujuh (7) hari untuk membayar wang cagaran tambahan tersebut. Bayaran boleh dibuat di Pejabat SESB.

7. Kenapa jumlah wang cagaran berbeza-beza? Jumlah wang cagaran adalah berbeza-beza kerana pengiraan dibuat berdasarkan kepada bilangan pepasangan elektrik di dalam premis dan anggaran penggunaan elektrik bulanan untuk dua (2) bulan. 8. Bolehkah pelanggan meminta wang cagaran dipulangkan? Wang cagaran adalah merupakan hak milik pelanggan yang dipulangkan kembali apabila akaun ditutup atau apabila pelanggan membuat pertukaran akaun. Pelanggan perlu berurusan dengan Pejabat SESB di alamat yang tertera di muka hadapan bil dengan membawa resit asal pembayaran wang cagaran. Jika resit asal tiada/hilang, pelanggan diminta untuk mengisi borang pengakuan kehilangan resit asal. Pembayaran baki wang cagaran setelah ditolak amaun tunggakan (jika ada) adalah secara tunai (jika kurang daripada RM400) atau melalui cek (jika lebih daripada RM400). 9. Oleh kerana SESB memegang wang cagaran pelanggan, adakah pelanggan akan menerima apa-apa faedah? SESB memberikan rebat sebanyak 2.5% daripada jumlah wang cagaran tunai pelanggan yang dikreditkan ke dalam bil bulan Januari pelanggan pada setiap tahun. 10.Siapakah yang dikecualikan daripada pembayaran wang cagaran? Pengecualian pembayaran wang cagaran adalah untuk permohonan daripada:- i. Akaun kerajaan (tidak termasuk kuaters atas nama persendirian) ii. Anggota kerja SESB (terhad untuk satu premis sahaja) Nota:- Pengguna-pengguna di atas TIDAK dikecualikan daripada pembayaran setem hasil yang dimeterai dalam perjanjian kontrak diantara pelanggan dan SESB.

11.Bagaimanakah cara untuk menuntut bayaran balik wang cagaran jika pengguna berdaftar telah meninggal dunia? Sekiranya pelanggan yang mendaftar telah meninggal, waris terdekat pelanggan boleh menuntut bayaran balik wang cagaran. Waris tersebut hendaklah memajukan borang bon lepasan tanggungan atau surat mahkamah beserta sijil kematian pelanggan yang berdaftar di Pejabat SESB di alamat yang tertera di muka hadapan bil.
