TERMS & CONDITIONS Mandatory Course Registration & Involvement Student s must commit to enrolling in all required classes associated with the Global Expedition Program. Course requirements will be outlined on the Shasta College Website at www.shastacollege.edu/globaled. Students must commit and remain an active participant for the entire trip and course. This includes but is not limited to attending all class meetings on time before, during and after the expedition, fully participating in classes, attending all field presentations, and being on time for transfers and departures. I, (APPLICANT), understand that it is mandatory that I register for and remain and active participant in the course combination outlined above for the summer session. Failure to do so will result in my immediate removal from the Global Expedition Program, a failing grade in the registered courses, and a return of all scholarship monies. Physical Activity & Health Disclosure Students should understand that there are specific physical activity and health risks that must be considered. There may be easy to moderate hiking conditions, in which case, the student must have the capability to backpack for up to 4-5 hours in extreme weather conditions; as well as, swim in an open water environment. These conditions may be intensified as a result of varying elevations and/or depths (dependent on PADI certification) which may pose a health risk to individuals with certain ailments. The undertaking of any physical activity should only occur after careful consideration of its inherent risks. In some cases, certain individuals should consider consultation with and approval from a licensed medical doctor. While not required, it is advisable that all health concerns, both mental and physical, be disclosed to the faculty and other college officials at the time of application submittal. The disclosure of this information will not result in the denial of any student application, but will allow faculty to prepare and/or provide additional information, disability services and or special accommodations. Students should be aware that there are significant differences in the disability services available from one country or city to another. These differences should be considered prior to committing to this Global Expedition Program and will not be grounds for grade contestation or exceptions to the cancellation policy. Financial Obligation/Cancellation Policy Students must understand and agree that the financial obligations involved with this global expedition opportunity are their sole responsibility. Shasta College will assume no financial liability. If the participation in this expedition is contingent upon financial aid, the student will ensure that all required documents necessary to receive such aid are complete and turned into the financial aid office with sufficient time to pay all required costs. Due to high enrollment, Shasta College requires that students submit the application to the Global Education Center and a $250 deposit to the Business Office (room 105) concurrently. Students will be required to submit full payment by the designated due date as indicated on the Operation Wallacea website in order to secure travel arrangements. After the initial deposit, all funds will be collected and monitored by Operation Wallacea directly. Should you have to cancel your booking we ask that you advise both Operation Wallacea and Shasta College promptly in writing or by email. The cancellation will take effect from the day the written confirmation is received, and the cancellation charge will be applied based on the originally booked start date of your expedition. Cancellation will incur a $150 handling charge. Once flight tickets are issued the names cannot be changed, and therefore replacing the cancelled student(s) would not be possible after this point. Unless the student can be replaced, cancellation will involve following charges: Period before departure Before January 10, 2018 January 11 - February 9, 2018 February 10 March 11, 2018 March 12 April 15, 2018 April 16, 2018 start of expedition Cancellation charge* Loss of $250 deposit $250 deposit + 25% of total package price $250 deposit + 50% of total package price $250 deposit + 75% of total package price 100% of total package price *If you should need to cancel after your international flights have been booked by us, and the above cancellation charge does not cover the cost of the international flights, then the cancellation charge will, as a minimum, be the cost of the international flight plus the $250 deposit. We may book your international flights any time after September 15, 2017. We strongly advise that you take out additional cancellation insurance coverage, such as the cancellation insurance offered through travel professionals and financial institutions, as you may be able to recover some of the charges shown above. The insurance available for purchase from travel providers and financial institutions is usually non-refundable after purchase, and is not included in any refunds from Operation Wallacea. Additional financial and cancellation information can be found at https://www.opwall.com/booking/documents/us- CANterms.htm Signing and returning all required documentation is the student s responsibility. If you fail to return any required documents after repeated notification (email or call), you will be withdrawn from the Global Expedition Program and will forfeit any refund. 3 P a g e

Student Visa and Passport Information All Shasta College students are required to have a valid passport. Please be aware that you passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of the expedition or you may not be allowed to enter the foreign country. Depending on the country requirements, you may need to apply for a visa in addition to getting a passport. Visa requirements vary significantly based on the country. Visa requirements vary significantly based on the country. While some students may be required to obtain a student visa, others may be able to stay in the host country for the duration as a tourist. The application process for a student visa also varies by country. Depending on the foreign consulate, applicants may have to apply in person, online or by physical mail. The faculty advisors will notify you of the country-specific requirements prior to the expedition. Applying for a student visa is a lengthy process and can take 45 120 days prior to the departure date. Processing and visa fees vary and many are non-refundable. Most countries require a background check to issue a student visa, and any current or unresolved legal matters may result in a visa application being denied. Contact the consulate directly if you feel that this may be a concern. Standard of Conduct Students are expected to adhere to all Shasta College rules and regulations outlined in the student Standards of Conduct Board Policy and Administrative Procedure (5500). Any egregious or repetitive infraction of these standards may lead to disciplinary action by Shasta College. Failure to do so will result in my removal from the program and return to the United States at my own expense. By signing below I agree that I have read, understand and will abide by both the Shasta College Standard of Conduct and the governing laws of the host country. If any student is sent home as a result of any conduct violations outlined in the student Standards of Conduct (AP/BP 5500), they will be required to arrange and pay for their own travel expenses to return to the United States.
