While the name is commonly shortened to TruStone Financial, make no mistake we are a not-for-profit credit union that began in 1939 with a group of hard working people just wanting to make a difference.

TruStone Financial: A BRIEF HISTORY After nearly eight decades, TruStone Financial has grown with members for members. Our commitment to service, accuracy and responsiveness stands just as firm as it did in 1939.
1939 In the living room of founder Carl Nelson s home, eight teachers created what is now known as TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union. After one year, Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Credit Union served 16 members and $307 in assets enough to fit in a tackle box. 1947 Secured loan limit increased to $800. 2004 The credit union had six locations throughout the Twin Cities and St. Cloud and the field of membership opened up to specific communities. 1986 The credit union added innovative products including variable rate loans and lines of credit and first mortgages. These product additions poised the credit union for success as it became Teacher Federal Credit Union the following year. 2009 The credit union balance sheet had more than $621 million in assets and 57,000 members. During this year the credit union changed its name to TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union. 2011-13 TruStone Financial merged with Ukrainian Credit Union of Northeast Minneapolis, acquired the assets of A M Community Credit Union in Kenosha, Wisconsin and combined operations with Ladish Community Credit Union of Cudahy, Wisconsin. 1965 1982 The credit union moved into their very first The pattern of growth and mergers continued as the branch, located at 1724 Douglas Drive in organization merged with three additional credit Golden Valley, MN. unions between 1982 and 1986. 2016 TruStone Financial merged with First Credit Union, Southshore Credit Union and Kenosha Postal Employees Credit Union and now serves more than 100,000 members and boasts $1.1 billion in assets. 1976-78 1979 Through innovation and expansion, the credit union 12,500 members cooperatively expanded became one of the first in MN to offer Share Draft the credit union worth $34 million in assets. Youth Savings Accounts It s never too early to learn the importance of saving, which is why we offer MoneyWise accounts for children under the age of 18. Health Savings Account You can t plan to be sick, that s why this free account lets you plan ahead for unexpected medical expenses. Please visit TruStoneFinancial.org for a full list of product offerings. * TruRate Checking receives 2.02% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on balances up to $20,000 and 0.10% APY on balances over $20,000 by adhering to the following conditions: Account holders must maintain active Visa credit and debit cards (a combination of a minimum of 12 transactions posted by the last business day of the month for debit cards; second to last business day for Visa credit card transactions), enroll in and maintain Online Banking and estatements and maintain a minimum daily balance of $2,000. If any of the requirements are not met in a given month, the APY drops to 0.10% on all balances. Accounts closed before the end of the calendar month will earn 0.10% APY on all balances for that month. A $20 monthly fee will be assessed if the balance falls below required $2,000 minimum on any given day. Limit one account per household. Primary account holder must be 18 years of age or older.
