Vehicle Inspection Process What you can expect. Mercedes-Benz Finance

Inspection Process This leaflet is designed to give you a brief outline of the end of agreement vehicle inspection process. Types of Inspection Pre-Maturity Inspection 1. Inspection should be carried out up to 14 days before the maturity date 2. Opportunity to carry out repairs prior to the maturity date 3. Our collection partner will contact you before the maturity date to ascertain whether you have undertaken any repairs and to arrange collection. Same Day Inspection and Collection 1. The inspector will inspect your vehicle and verify the V5C by taking a photograph of it 2. The collection driver may check the vehicle to ensure it is safe to drive and will collect the V5C 3. The collection driver will then drive your vehicle away and return it to our De-Fleet Centre. Inspection Our collection partner will inspect your vehicle in line with the Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Return Standards This process takes approximately 45 minutes to look at the interior and exterior of the vehicle After the inspection is completed you will then be invited to walk around your vehicle and discuss the items that have been recorded You will be provided with an overview report. Please note this is not a damage report or invoice and is for your records The inspector will then ask you to sign one of two options on their hand-held Terminal: a. Customer Agrees b. Customer Disagrees You will then receive a copy of the Vehicle Condition Report Once the vehicle is returned to the De-Fleet Centre it will undergo a full body and technical inspection An invoice will be drafted and sent to you within 7 14 working days. How to replace a V5C or Logbook Reasons for replacing a V5C or Logbook If your original V5C certificate has been lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed Your V5C should be red, if it is not you will need to apply for a new one.

E When you should receive the V5C A When you should use this form You should receive the V5C within: two weeks if you are already recorded as the registered keeper, or Use this form to apply for a vehicle registration certificate (V5C): if you have bought the vehicle but have not received the V5C in your name, (you should allow four weeks from the date you bought the vehicle before you use this form), or because the original V5C has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed. If you have previously had a V5C in your name for this vehicle, and there is no change to the vehicle or your personal details, you can apply for a duplicate by phoning 0300 790 6802. If you are deaf or hard of hearing and have a textphone, phone 0300 123 1279. (This number will not respond to ordinary phones.) Please have a debit card or credit card to hand when you phone, as you may have to pay the 25 fee (see section D). B Filling in this form If you do not give the following details, we will not be able to deal with your application and will return it for you to fill in: all the vehicle details in section 1 your full names in section 2 and do not use initials or give joint names (for example, a husband and wife s or a father and son s). a United Kingdom (UK) address in section 2 (PO box addresses are only acceptable for applications in a company name with a full postal address). The following information will help us deal with your application. Date of birth. (Not needed with a company name and address). Contact phone number and email address. When filling in section 3, a motor trader can be a: motor dealer motor vehicle auctioneer motor vehicle insurer you have settled a claim with motor vehicle dismantler (salvage dealer), or finance company with a financial interest in the vehicle. You must also sign this form in section 5. C How to pay and where to send this form The fee for this application is 25 (at time of printing). If sending this form directly to DVLA please make cheques or postal orders payable to DVLA, Swansea. Do not send cash or blank postal orders. Send this form to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DD. D When there is no fee You do not have to pay a fee in the following circumstances: If you are the new keeper and the previous keeper failed to tell us about the change, you must have the New keeper s details section (V5C/2) from the V5C and send it to us with this application form. If the vehicle has been categorised as C salvage (repairs would cost more than the vehicle was worth) by the insurance company and they have destroyed the V5C. However if you are also taxing your vehicle at a Post Office branch that issues tax discs you will need to pay the fee which will be refunded after DVLA have carried out checks. You have to pay for the following categories: A = scrap only, B = break for spare parts only, and D = repairable. You can get more information on salvage categories from the insurance company. 16733 four weeks if there has been a change of keeper. However, if you do not receive it in this time, please allow six weeks before contacting us. Note: the address on the V5C will be in the format Royal Mail prefer. It may not be identical to that given on your application. F You can tax your vehicle at a Post Office branch that issues tax discs by using your V5C or V5C/2 New keeper s details section. You may also need to fill in this form if you only have the V5C/2. If you do not have a V5C or the V5C/2 you will need to fill in this form and pay a fee. You can pay by cash, debit card, cheque or postal order (made out to Post Office Ltd.), Post Office budget card or by traveller s cheques (in pounds sterling). If you are not the registered keeper of the vehicle you may not be able to tax until you get a V5C in your name. If you have changed your address you must fill in your previous postcode in the box under your signature on the front of this form. G If you are, or are about to become, the keeper of the vehicle and you are keeping it off the road, you need to make a SORN with this application. If you have recently bought the vehicle, SORN cannot be transferred from the previous keeper. You will need to make a new SORN. If you do not make a SORN, legal action could be taken against you. To make a SORN, fill in a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) (V890), which you can get from: the website at www.gov.uk/sorn DVLA Customer Enquiries (see contact details in section I). Please make sure you attach the V890 to this form. H Data protection releasing information We will store your details on our vehicle register. We can release these details if we must do so by law. Find out about DVLA s online services at www.gov.uk/browse/driving 12/13 There are two ways you can apply for a new V5C Apply by phone The easiest way to apply for a replacement Logbook is to phone the DVLA. You can apply by phone if: you were shown as the registered keeper on the original registration certificate your name, address and vehicle details haven t changed you can pay the 25 fee by debit or credit card Telephone: 0300 790 6802 Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm, Saturday, 8am to 2pm. Apply by post You can also apply by post if you have either moved home, or are not shown as the original registered keeper. Complete the form attached called a V62 Application for a vehicle registration certificate and send it to DVLA with the 25 fee. Please remember to fill it in in black ink and in capital letters. After filling in the form please send it to: DVLA, Swansea SA99 1DD Application for a vehicle registration certificate What to do if you also need to tax your vehicle V62 What to do if you also need to make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) V62 Checklist If you have chosen to apply for your new V5C by post, you will need to fill in a V62. If you are filling in a V62 here are some points to remember: Section 1 Tax Class: All Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars will be classed as Private/Light Goods (PLG) Your VIN, chassis or frame number can be found at the bottom of your windscreen on the passenger side. Section 2 Have you filled in the: "Have you had a vehicle registration certificate (V5C) for this vehicle in your name?" This section is at the bottom of Section 2. Transferring a Vehicle Registration Number or Cherished Plate To retain your personalised or 'cherished' plate, please visit www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-to-transfer-or-retain-a-vehicle-registration-number Alternatively, if you are a Contract Hire customer, please get in touch with the Customer Services Team to arrange retention of your plate. Vehicle Hand Back Checklist When handing your vehicle back to the collection driver please use the below checklist for a smooth hand back experience. When the vehicle was inspected, you should have been given a hand back bag to place the V5C document, any physical service history evidence and the spare keys for the vehicle. Please ensure that the bag and contents are given to the collection driver when you hand back your vehicle. 1 2 All keys for the vehicle are to be returned with the vehicle. Keys cannot be posted back to us at any stage. The charges applied to missing keys are as follows; 145.95 Smart and 260.00 Mercedes-Benz.* The literature pack (e.g. user manual and service history etc) is to be returned with the vehicle. 3 Locking alloy wheel keys are to be returned with the vehicle. 4 5 6 The vehicle should have a valid MOT. In the event that the vehicle does not have a valid MOT on the day of collection, the collection will be aborted and there may be a charge as the vehicle cannot legally be driven in this condition. The vehicle should have road worthy tyres that are EU standard, correct speed rating and a minimum of 1.6mm depth. The vehicle should have the same brand on each axle. If the tyres do not meet the correct specification, there may be charges applied. We will not be able to collect your vehicle if the tyres are deemed illegal. The vehicle should be insured on the day of collection. 7 The vehicle should be clean inside and out, all personal belongings removed and personal data deleted. 8 9 Loose items such as locking wheel nuts, satellite navigaton disc, head rests, parcel shelf, load cover, first aid kit, warning triangle, wheel jack and tyre inflator should all be returned with the vehicle. Sign the Section 9 of your V5C document under the section "Registered Keeper". 10 Return the V5C document if you are the registered keeper. Send the yellow Section 9 of your V5C to the DVLA, and give the hand back bag to the collection driver. What to do with your Section 9 of your V5C Please sign the Section 9 of your V5 under the section Registered Keeper Using black ink write the date of your vehicle collection Put the following address in the Name and address of Motor Trader section: Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd, Delaware Drive,Tongwell, Milton Keynes MK15 8BA You do not need to fill in the VAT number Tear off this section and please post this by recorded delivery to: DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD You will then receive an acknowledgement from the DVLA within 4 weeks. * Other charges may apply. What Happens Next Assessment of any potential charges We will conduct a full inspection of your vehicle, which will include both damage and mileage checks If we find anything which falls outside of our vehicle return standards, we ll send you an invoice along with a full explanation of each cost Any invoice will also include full contact details, so you can get in touch if you have any questions or queries.
