PRESS RELEASE Year-End 2007 KSEI, in its capacity as the Depository & Settlement Institution in Indonesian Capital Market in which assets of capital market players are deposited never stop trying to improve its services. As KSEI does not only focus on the development of Central Depository and Book Entry Settlement System (C-BEST), which is the main supporting system of depository services and Securities transaction settlement implementation for scripless trading, but KSEI also makes necessary enhancements upon its services for the sake of Indonesian Capital Market efficiency. Several business developments KSEI made during the year 2007 among others are: 1. Area Facility In order to provide investor protection, KSEI has developed Area Facility that makes Account Holders enable to grant access to their investors to view balance position data and Securities transfer in their Sub Securities Account. The access granting is optional and depends on each Account Holder policy. This Area Facility has obtained an approval from Bapepam -LK through letter ref.#: S- 3709/BL/2007 dated July 26, 2007. KSEI has provided Account Holders with relevant socialization and has been preparing the legal documents for the implementation of such facility. 2. Depository & Settlement Services of Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) Transaction Having gone through Rule Making Rule process, KSEI regulation that becomes the legal base of collective custody services for Mutual Funds finally obtained Bapepam -LK approval. It was later drawn up in Decree of KSEI Directors ref.#: KEP-012/DIR/KSEI/0807 dated August 21, 2007. As of December 18, 2007, 2 (two) ETFs in C-BEST, Mutual Fund of Premier ETF LQ-45 & Asian Bond Fund - Indonesia Bond Index Fund, have been tradable in Bursa Efek Indonesia. Hopefully, the improvement of instrument types will encourage Indonesian Capital Market to be more active and provide foreign as well as local investors with attractive investment alternatives. 3. Settlement of Exchange Transaction of Government Bond As of year-end 2006, depository services for Retail Government Bond are available in KSEI. Since then, KSEI also provides settlement of over the counter transaction of Government Bond. Afterward, KSEI makes the settlement of exchange transaction of Government Bond available as well. The activity, which was initiated by transaction in PT Bursa Efek Surabaya (BES) as of May 1, 2007, is performed by similar mechanism for Corporate Bond settlement KSEI provides since year 2000, using book-entry settlement. 1/5
4. Sertifikat Bank Indonesia Administration and Transaction Settlement Services In order to improve the benefit of KSEI services to all service users, KSEI has obtained Bapepam -LK approval through letter ref.#: S-1178/BL/2007 dated March 16, 2007 regarding Approval on Additional Services for Sertifikat Bank Indonesia Administration and Transaction Settlement, to facilitate the Administration and Transaction Settlement of Sertifikat Bank Indonesia (SBI). Such facility was announced in KSEI Circular Letter ref.#: SE-001/DIR-Eks/KSEI/0307 dated March 28, 2007 regarding Sertifikat Bank Indonesia Administration and Transaction Settlement Services. Other activities KSEI made along the year 2007 among others are: 1. Customer Survey of KSEI Services KSEI has performed the 5 th Customer Survey. The activity, which is conducted gradually every year since 2003, is a form of KSEI commitment to always make sustainable improvement and service enhancement for all KSEI service users. The Survey was conducted on May up to September 2007, using mechanism of questionnaires and followed by site visit to service users and Focus Group Discussion. From such activity, it is shown that several aspects of KSEI services need to be improved, those are: C-BEST performance, communication network stability of KSEI system. Also, KSEI service users expect that information of change of procedures/mechanism s as well as other material information can be delivered immediately. 2. Socialization of KSEI New Services KSEI has held socialization for all service users to introduce its new services. The event was held in several phase on November 12-16, 2007 in Bogor and attended by Exchange Members, Custodian Bank, Payment Bank, Registrar and Investment Manager. This time the topic talked about Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), Pre Matching, Area, Post Trade Processing (PTP) and Initial Public Offering (IPO). 3. Shareholders Seminar At the end of year 2007, Shareholders Seminar has been held by KSEI in 2 (two) section and attended by KSEI shareholders as well as other invitees. The first section of the seminar discussed about Future Potential of Islamic Capital Markets in Indonesia. It was held by KSEI co-operated with HSBC Amanah Syariah on November 23-24, 2007 in Bali. The 2nd section was held by KSEI co-operated with Citibank on December 2, 2007 in Bali with a topic of Settlement Road Map Toward Best Practise. 2/5
4. DRC Live Test KSEI has performed the 9 th DRC Live Test on March 12-16, 2007. The test has generally run well and has been completed according to the scenario in which all C-BEST main system activities were performed by DRC machine. The realization of total operating revenues, comprising of transaction settlement and central custodian services, for the period of January November 2007 was Rp 132 billion or Rp 6 billion higher or an increase of 5% from Rp 126 billion budgeted. While the realization of total operating expenses for the period of January November 2007 was Rp 59 billion or Rp 15 billion lower or a decrease of 21% from Rp 74 billion budgeted in RKAT 2007 (Revision). Balance sheets as per 30 November 2007 has increased in assets of Rp 95 billion (46%) compared to the number of 31 December 2006, liabilities has experienced the same increase of Rp 21 billion (67%) and shareholders equity has increased Rp 74 billion (42%).
