Today s trading & charting applications are presented in 2 dimensions. They have not changed for decades. Traders are demanding increasingly complicated charts which become cluttered and hard to read. They are limited by the number of screens they can physically fit onto a desk. They must process many markets, timeframes, news and chat feeds simultaneously. This information can be overwhelming. This is not ideal when traders need to make quick decisions.
There are many trading and charting applications competing for business AMP Futures offers at least 60 trading platforms to choose from. All of these trading applications use traditional 2 dimensional charts and features. There are no products available using 3D mixed/virtual reality for the home retail trader.
A 3D trading application using virtual reality technology will disrupt the industry. Any number of financial instruments and charts will hover in front of your eyes as 3D images using a VR headset or Hololens. Finding a chart, instrument or other data will be as simple as issuing a voice command. Citibank have prototyped the idea to be used professionally in-house. There is a huge opportunity to bring this tech to the home retail trader. Photo: Citibank
Traders love sharing charts and trading ideas via social media & chatrooms. Virtual Reality will put traders in the same room where they can collaborate on ideas. Mixed reality blends the real world and virtual world. Traders will be able to walk around a chart and visualise it from different angles and see charts in different ways that were not possible with 2D. Photo: Citibank
Microsoft Hololens: A mixed reality computer that sits on the head; Spatial mapping, gesture control, gaze control, voice control and spatial sound.
