MANAGER PROFILE We Take Our Managers Personally: Dana Fransen Dana Fransen is the branch manager for our Madera branch. Dana began her career at EECU over 17 years ago. She has held various positions within the credit union. She started in the ATM department and has been part of other departments such as credit card services, account services, and has been an assistant branch manager and call center supervisor. With our Madera branch having opened just a few months ago, Dana is excited to be part of such a welcoming community. The feeling of being welcomed, wanted and needed here makes me even more passionate of my role as a branch manager at a new branch, she said. Dana is very family oriented. She takes advantage of every moment she has to enjoy and spend time with her family and friends. She and her husband spend infinite hours with their children, attending carnivals and school functions. When asked to tell us a few things that most people don t know about her, she gave a quirky smile and said, I love pedicures, and love watching Jujitsu and MMA matches. During her free time, Dana enjoys relaxing. I like to read, watch movies and spend time with friends as my relaxation, she said. In closing, we asked Dana if she lives by any quotes and she answered, two quotes that I like to always keep in mind are: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you and never say something behind someone s back that you would not say to them directly. It is an opportunity for everyone to reflect on their personal financial situation and really consider whether their financial goals for the future will be met upon retirement. It is also an opportunity to bring awareness to all workers about the importance of saving today for a secure future tomorrow. Traditional pension plans and Social Security benefits have long been the backbone of most workers income in retirement. However, many financial experts agree that pensions and Social Source: National Save for Retirement Week (http://www.retirementweek.org/) is a well organized site for saving for retirement information. Security may not provide enough postretirement income. Longer life spans and rising costs, especially for health care, have changed the retirement outlook for many Americans. MEMBER PROFILE Dr. Cecilia Massetti (Cont. from Cover) Dr. Massetti has lived in the Valley most of her life, except for the years she attended college out of the area. She is a third generation Madera native. My grandfather, Giovanni Massetti, came to Madera from Italy in 1910 to work in the vineyards. Dr. Massetti s family story is very much like that of other immigrant families, one centered on faith, family, friendship, food, the importance of hard work, the struggle to survive and a strong value placed on education. Dr. Massetti has been part of the Madera County Office of Education family for 34 years. I have had the good fortune to serve the children and families of Madera County in many different roles as a school psychologist, curriculum consultant, director of pupil services, curriculum and instruction, assistant superintendent and as associate superintendent for student programs and services, she said. Just after college, Dr. Massetti started her career in Madera. It was a wonderful stroke of luck that when I got out of college, jobs were hard to find in the Bay Area where I went to school, so I came home to Madera, she said. She landed a job at the Madera County Office of Education. I had originally planned on just staying a few years and then returning to the Bay Area. Little did Dr. Massetti know that this job would open the doors to a lifetime passion and career. My work with the children and families of Madera County was so rewarding that I was hooked and I never thought about leaving. The dedication of the staff to the children and families we teach and care for is heartfelt, she said with a warm smile. When asked what she does in her free time, Dr. Massetti said, These days in education, as in most professions, we are dealing with uncertain times, limited resources and along with everyone else there doesn t seem to be much free time. Free time for me is with family, friends, food, good conversation and a time to dream about what is possible. When asked what drives her every day, Dr. Massetti said, I am driven by a belief that education can change the path of an individual s life, and the quality of life for that individual s family, their community and future generations. When we asked Dr. Massetti who she admires, she closed with a very enduring answer that truly reflects her passion and dedication to education. I admire children and young adults. Children are so eager to learn our youth face challenges that I never imagined growing up. The choices they must make as they go along their path takes strength of character in a world swirling with information blasts and media broadcasts they are our hope for the future and I am confident they will be successful and continue to build strong communities and become a highly skilled workforce. Here are some important tips to follow when visiting any EECU ATM: Have your ATM card and/or deposit ready when you approach the ATM. Be extra cautious at night. Bring a friend whenever possible and always choose well-lit ATMs. If you lose your card, your PIN is compromised, or you discover suspicious transactions on your monthly statement, notify the credit union immediately. Scan your surrounding area for suspicious activity. If for any reason you aren t comfortable, report unusual activity as soon as possible and use another ATM location. Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN) never write it on your card. Conceal the number pad with your body when entering your PIN so others cannot see your code. Take your transaction receipt. Do not provide information about your account or PIN to strangers, not even the credit union. Do not allow strangers to assist you while using an ATM.
