What information does this summary provide? Our features and benefits document gives you a summary of the types of cover we provide under our car insurance policy. The full terms and conditions of your policy cover can be found in the policy document. On placing cover with us, we recommend you read the policy document together with your certificate of insurance and schedule to make sure that the cover suits your needs. You should also review our Terms of Business as it contains important information on how we provide insurance to you. The extent of protection provided will depend on the level of cover you purchase. The types of cover and additional features are summarised in this document. Throughout this document, we, us or our refers to FBD Insurance plc, while you or your refers to you the person who has taken out the insurance. What cover types are provided? Third party insurance cover This provides cover for legal liabilities should a claim be brought against you for damage or injury to someone else or their property arising from the use of your car. Third party, fire and theft cover In addition to third party insurance cover, third party, fire and theft covers you for loss or damage to your car arising from fire, theft or damage caused during an attempted theft. Comprehensive cover This is the widest cover available for car owners. In addition to third party, fire and theft cover, comprehensive also covers accidental damage to your car. In addition, comprehensive cover includes a number of additional cover features as standard: Car breakdown assistance Car hire expenses following an accident Medical expenses Personal accident cover Windscreen and window glass. 1

Who can be insured to drive? There are various options available under our car insurance policy to extend cover to include additional drivers. You can choose to insure: your driving only you plus one named driver open drive this allows any driver between the ages of 25 and 71 years with a full clean driving licence to drive your car with your consent. It is generally possible to include drivers with provisional licences or outside the normal 25 to 71 age group. This is at our discretion and normally incurs an additional payment. Your certificate of insurance and schedule will set out the drivers covered to drive under your policy and you should read this document carefully. We will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage caused while your car is driven by a person not covered by your certificate of insurance. For what use is the car insured? We provide cover for social, domestic and pleasure use. In general, it is possible to extend cover to business or work use. This is at our discretion and normally incurs an additional payment. Use of the car outside of this is not covered. 2
What other important items do I need to know? Policy excess The excess on your policy is the first amount of any claim which you must pay. Your policy will only provide cover above this amount. Our standard accidental damage excess is 200 for each and every claim. This increases to an excess of 350 for drivers with a provisional licence or those under 25. You will not be asked to pay an excess for fire, theft or windscreen claims. No claim discount Claims for fire, theft and windscreen will not affect your no claim discount (NCD). Making any other type of claim means you will lose your NCD unless you have purchased one of our NCD protection covers. Two of these cover options, No claim discount protector extra and Step-back no claim discount protection, are described in this document. Other NCD protection covers may apply depending on when you took out your policy with us, and your schedule will confirm the cover in place. Basis of claims settlement We may choose to make a payment, repair (through a nominated repairer), replace or reinstate losses when dealing with a valid claim. In the event of your car being damaged beyond repair, we will pay up to the market value of the car immediately prior to the loss or damage. We will deduct any residual salvage value from the amount we pay unless we have already disposed of your damaged car for our own benefit. The only exception to this is where new car replacement cover applies. 3
Standard policy features, benefits and restrictions Depending on the cover you select the following features, benefits and restrictions will form part of your policy. Feature Third party - personal injury Third party - property damage Cover Covers your legal liability for accidental death or injury to third parties arising from the use of your car. Covers your legal liability for damage to third party property arising from the use of your car. Driving of other private cars We will provide you with third party insurance cover to drive another private car not belonging to you. Third party trailer cover Transport costs Car accident assistance Fire and theft We will provide third party insurance cover for towing a trailer attached to your car. We will cover the cost of removal of your car to the nearest repairer following loss or damage and the cost of delivery of your car once the loss or damage is repaired. 24 hour advice is available following a claim. We will cover damage to your car as a result of fire, self ignition, lightning or explosion or by theft or attempted theft. Accidental damage We will cover accidental loss or damage to your car. New car replacement Car hire expenses Medical expenses Personal accident If you buy your car new and within 12 months it is damaged by fire, theft or accidental damage and the repair cost is more than 60% of its current price as new, we will replace it with a new car. We will cover the cost of car hire expenses after a claim. We will cover medical expenses for any insured driver or passengers as a result of injury sustained in connection with your car. We will cover you in respect of death or specified injuries suffered as a result of an accident involving your car or while getting into or out of or travelling in any private car not owned by you. 4
Restrictions/Provisions Comprehensive Third party, fire and theft Third party insurance The amount we will pay under this item is unlimited. We will pay up to 30M inclusive of legal expenses. Occupational and age restrictions may apply. Cover only applies if shown on your certificate of insurance. This extension applies only to private passenger cars. It does not apply to vans, car-vans, jeeps with no seats in the back or vans adapted to carry passengers. We will not pay for damage to the trailer or goods carried on or in the trailer. We will only pay the reasonable costs of removal and delivery of your car to the nearest repairer. The following number must be used to avail of this service - 1890 617 617. We will not cover depreciation, wear, tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown or failures, damage to tyres by the application of brakes or punctures. We will not cover damage to your car where the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Your car must be within 12 months of registration as new in your name and have an odometer reading of less than 48,280 km at the time of loss. We will pay up to 40 per day but no more than 300 in respect of any one claim. The most we will pay is 1,000 for each person injured. Full benefits are outlined in the policy document and include 5,000 for death and 2,500 for loss of sight or loss of limbs. 5
Standard policy features, benefits and restrictions (continued) Depending on the cover you select the following features, benefits and restrictions will form part of your policy. Feature Cover Personal property We will cover loss of personal property in your car up to a limit of 400 for any one incident. Replacement locks We will cover the replacement cost of keys, locks and alarm of your car if they are stolen. Fire brigade Windscreen and window glass We will cover the fire brigade charges following a claim involving your car. We will cover accidental damage to windscreens and windows on your car. Car breakdown assistance We provide roadside and doorstep breakdown assistance including towing your car to the nearest competent repairer and getting you home if the car cannot be repaired. Additional policy features, benefits and restrictions You may be able to add the following cover benefits to your policy. Feature Cover Driver accident cover (available online only) We provide cover for death or specified injuries and medical expenses for you or any insured driver following an accident in your car. No claim discount protector extra You can make a single claim in a two year period of insurance (24 months) with no reduction in your no claim discount. A second claim in this period will lead to your no claim discount being reduced to 40%. If you have a third claim in this period you will lose your entire no claim discount. Step-back no claim discount protection This will lead to your no claim discount being retained but stepped back if you have a single claim. If you have more than one claim in the same period of insurance you will lose your entire no claim discount. 6
Restrictions/Provisions No cover is provided for cash, credit cards, business goods or similar items. We will pay up to 750 under this cover for any one incident. Cover will only apply if the keys are stolen from your private home or hotel room following forcible entry. Comprehensive Third party, fire and theft Third party insurance We will pay up to 2,000 under this item. Monetary limits apply where our approved windscreen supplier is not used. For details of your local approved supplier please ring 1890 953 953. Limits apply to the costs incurred in getting you home. Restrictions/Provisions The limit applicable in respect of death is 20,000 and in respect of other specified injuries is 10,000. The cover excludes injury arising from suicide, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or injuries resulting from motor accidents not reported to An Garda Síochána. To qualify you must have at least five years no claim discount and have no claim made other than for fire, theft or windscreen. Fire, theft and windscreen claims will not affect your no claim discount. To qualify you must have at least three years no claim discount and have no claim made other than for fire, theft or windscreen.
