How to Scale a Test Score This demonstration will cover the task of scaling a test score, which is the act of adding points to, or subtracting points from, a completed, customized test within the McKesson Assessment Tools system. Scaling can be done for all test participants at the same time or for a single individual. This module will cover both options. Getting Started Therefore, the examples demonstrated in this module will be performed on a customized test that was created for demonstration purposes only, and, which you can see here in the Assessment Information Panel, is called the 2010-SAMPLE-DEMO-YOURCO Test. You should be familiar at this point with copying tests in order to customize them, but if necessary, stop here and view the demonstration video covering "Customization: How to Copy a Test" before continuing. To scale an assessment for all the staff members who have taken a test, you need to go the Assessment Results screen, which you do by clicking on the magnifying glass icon associated with the copied demonstration test under the Actions column. Assessment Results Screen Take a close look at the score distribution chart, and you ll notice 2 scores in the middle of the chart: one that's in the 30 39 percentile range, and the other in the 50 59 percentile range. Scale Assessment Button Now look toward the right side of the screen, in the Result Control Panel, and find the Scale Assessment button. This allows you to add points across the board to all individuals who have completed the test at this time. It is important to remember that this does not apply to a single individual, but rather to everyone who has completed the test. If you click the Scale Assessment button, you ll notice an area on the Scale Assessment screen labeled New Scale. Click the Submit button to confirm the action, and notice that of the 2 completed responses looked at earlier, one is now in the 40 49 percentile range, while the other, although it has gone up 5 points, is still within the 50 59 percentile range. Scaling an Assessment for an Individual If, on the other hand, you wanted to scale the points of one particular individual, perhaps to bring all of the scores within the same 50 59 percentile range, the action would be different. Score Summary Screen This brings you to the Score Summary screen, as shown in the breadcrumb trail at the top, which displays the results for the people who have completed the test. Now scroll down to the lower, third area of the screen, where you will see a Modify this respondent s score radio button. This allows you to add or subtract points to this individual. Click the radio button, and select Adding or Subtracting from the drop down list that appears. For this example, leave it set to Adding and then apply 10 points. ... and the Respondent Edit screen now shows that this individual has a final score of 53 points.
