Laurent Fessmann, Partner at Baker & McKenzie Laurent Fessmann has significant experience in the fund structuring practice area notably formation and on-going assistance of investment funds. He is a founder of Baker & McKenzie Luxembourg office in 2010 and practices in the investment and asset management sector. Laurent started his career in 1996 as in-house counsel in a French CAC40 listed company where he worked intensively on LBO transactions, capital markets and corporate law matters. Thereafter he joined a top ten Luxembourg business law-firm where he became a partner prior to founding his own law-firm in 2009. Laurent is a recognized expert in Legal 500 and takes part in several working groups at Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI). Kristof Bulkai, Fund Manager at Thames River Capital Kristof has been making investments in water technologies, infrastructure and services on a global basis throughout his career. He joined Thames River in September 2008 to launch the Water and Agriculture Absolute Return Fund. In February 2011 the team assumed responsibility for the Thames River Isis Fund and will launch the Thames River GEM Absolute Return Fund in June 2011. Prior to joining Thames River, Kristof was a European and emerging market portfolio manager at Griffin Capital where he had a 5 year track record of low volatility, mid-teen returns. He also worked as an analyst within the data research group at Goldman Sachs. Kristof is a CFA Charterholder, with an MSc in Transition Economics from LSE, and a BA in Philosophy and Politics from Durham. John Lowry, Chairman of ML Capital As Chairman of ML Capital, John provides senior leadership and corporate governance to the team. He has operated in a number of senior roles within the fund management industry. Prior to co-founding ML Capital, John was the founding Partner at Tara Capital, a leading global distributor of hedge funds. He brings over 20 years of experience to the team, the majority of which have been dedicated to raising assets for alternative investments. John gained an MA in Economics & Geography from Trinity College, Dublin.

Christophe Reech, Chairman & CEO of Reech AiM Group SA Christophe Reech is the founder of the Reech AiM Group SA. Christophe has over 20 years experience in investment banking, and specialized in derivatives and financing. In 2004, he was awarded the Risk Magazine s Risk Technologist of the Year award. In 2002, Time Magazine short listed him in its Top 25 European Innovators for his visionary concepts and the following year Capital IT included him in its Top 30 European Innovating Company Executives. Prior to founding the REECH AiM Group, Christophe established Reech Capital PLC, an independent derivative valuations and pricing house in February 1999. Reech Capital was acquired by SunGard in 2004. Previously, Christophe was part of the team that set up and ran derivatives divisions at Nikko Europe, Commerz Financial Products (the former derivatives arm of Commerzbank) and Banque Paribas (now part of BNP Paribas). Christophe holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and Physics. Robert Beer, CEO of Robert Beer Investment Since 1984, Robert Beer has been developing analytical investment models focusing on risk management with options strategies and systematic, rule-based programs that allow a riskadjusted outperformance of standard equity indices. Robert Beer gained long standing experience as a portfolio manager and developer of option strategies. He worked as an external advisor for European equities at Franken Invest and went on to manage his own funds in 2003. Currently, he manages more than EUR 470 million in his funds. Robert Beer is a reference book author and was a lecturer at University. Prior to this, he concluded his engineering studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. Jonathan Stanford, Partner & Fund Manager at Arkos Capital Jonathan is a partner and manager of the convertible strategy at Arkos Capital since 2007. He has 15 years of experience in the convertible bonds asset class. From 1996-2007 he worked at SBC Warburg and UBS as Executive Director, and was responsible for Convertible Bonds and Structured Products Sales to institutional clients in Italy and Southern Switzerland. From 1994-1997 he worked for Banca Commerciale Italiana (Suisse) as an equities and equity linked derivatives trader. He holds a BA in International Management from Franklin College, Lugano (Switzerland) and MBA in International Management from Long Island University (USA).

Ahmet Peker, Manager Fund of Funds, Deka Investment GmbH Mr. Peker has been a portfolio manager within the fund of hedge funds business since April 2007. The team is responsible for selecting target funds and weighting the different styles within the mutual fund and separate account mandates. In addition, Mr. Peker is responsible for the development of this specific business. Prior to that, Mr. Peker was a consultant and project manager at Ernst & Young AG where he advised investment companies including hedge funds in process analysis and risk management. He holds a diploma in business administration from the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg and is the author of the book Risk Management for Hedge Funds and co-author of Private Banking and Wealth Management. In addition, he has published numerous articles and writings on hedge funds. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and a Committee Member of CAIA Germany Chapter. Mr. Peker is a member of working groups of national and international associations. Dr. André Jäger, Member of the Board of Directors & Chief Risk Officer of Universal Investment Dr André Jäger has been a member of the Board of Directors of Universal-Investment since 2011, and at the same time Chief Risk Officer of the entire UI group. Previously he managed the area of risk management with responsibility for the core areas of risk management and investment compliance. After his move to Universal-Investment in 2004 he was initially responsible, among other things, for the implementation of the derivatives directive. Dr Jäger studied mathematics and physics and obtained his doctorate in 1997 from the Ruhr University in Bochum. That same year he joined Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt, where he held various specialist and management positions in the headquarters staff for corporate development/group reporting. Dirk Wieringa, Head of Alternative Investment Advisory Switzerland at Credit Suisse Dirk Wieringa is a Director of Credit Suisse s Asset Management with 13 years of experience in the financial industry. He is heading the team in charge of Institutional Advisory in Switzerland. Before, he headed the Liquid Alternatives team with more than 3 billion of assets under management for 5 years. From 2002-2005, Dirk was responsible to build out the Hedge Fund exposure for the balance sheet investments of Winterthur Insurance, a fully owned subsidiary of Credit Suisse at the time. Prior to that, he worked for Bank Sarasin, structuring and selling equity and index linked structured products for more than 5 years.

Amy Bensted, Head of Hedge Funds at Preqin Amy Bensted joined Preqin in 2006 where she now heads the Hedge Fund team. The hedge fund team conducts research into all areas of the asset class from institutional investor appetite through to fund structures and manager compensation. Using its database of 2,500 institutional investors in hedge funds and its relationships with managers, Preqin produces unbiased and up to the minute research into all aspects of the hedge fund arena. Amy is a regular contributor of articles and features in the financial press and her research has featured in the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal as well as in specialist Hedge Fund media. Amy graduated from Imperial College London in 2003 after gaining a BSc. in Biology and a MSc. in Applied Biological Sciences. Prof. Dr. Bernd Ankenbrand Prof. Dr. Bernd Ankenbrand is Professor of Constructivist Finance at the Karlshochschule International University in Germany and director at MOSAIG ohg. In his research and teaching he focuses on Business Model Innovation, Social Studies of Finance and various valuation topics. Prof. Ankenbrand has studied economics and business at Witten/Herdecke University and at Stockholm University. His Ph.D. was about intangible Asset Backed Securities. His professional experience includes positions at Kienbaum Management Consultants, Arthur Andersen, PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance and gexid GmbH. Martin Estlander, CEO & CIO of Estlander & Partners Martin became involved in trading derivative instruments in 1987 as a cofounder of the market-maker company Sophos AB in Stockholm. The year after Servisen Arctos & Partners Oy was established in Helsinki under the direction of Martin Estlander and Kaj Rönnlund. 1990 the two partners founded Servisen Arctos & Partners GmbH (SAP), a market maker on Eurex. Following a management buyout in 1992, the company changed its name to Estlander & Rönnlund GmbH. In addition to its market making activities, the company started managing its longest running Managed Futures Program, Estlander Global Markets in 1991. Today, Martin Estlander acts as CEO and CIO of Estlander & Partners Ltd. He started developing the systematic trading models of the company in 1990 and holds an MSc in Industrial Management and Computer Sciences from the Helsinki University of Technology.

Ajay Jain, CFA & Head of Portfolio Engineering at Barclays Capital Fund Solutions Ajay Jain is the Head of Portfolio Engineering and is responsible for the development of quantitative strategies. His area of focus is the development of research-based alpha generating asset allocation models. He has also been responsible for the development and management of the award-winning CORALS Strategy and Macro Alpha Programme, which has received wide acclaim. He has been an integral part of the team since inception and has developed a strong client following in respect of alpha asset allocation strategies. Prior to joining Barclays Capital, he worked at Deutsche Bank and Toronto Dominion Bank. He has an MBA from INSEAD (France). Daniel Häfele, CEO ACOLIN Fund Services AG Daniel Häfele has over 30 years banking experience in different management positions. He started his carrier after his bank apprenticeship as a Eurobond trader at Credit Suisse. Aged 28, he became Head of Trading and Investment Banking at a mid-sized French Private Bank in Switzerland. Today, Daniel is regarded to be one of the pioneers in the Swiss Fund Industry. 1993 he founded the first purely fund based independent asset management company, FONDVEST and three years later Switzerland s leading fund platform FONDCENTER AG which he headed as CEO and sold in a trade-sale to UBS in late 2001. Daniel launched the first long-only fund of funds umbrella structure under Swiss law. As early as 1996 he launched one of the first Fund of Hedge Funds in cooperation with a newly founded venture called Harcourt Consulting, where he acted as a seed investor and board member for several years. After the successful launch of two capital guaranteed Fund of Emerging Market Funds together with SocGen, he launched the first capital guaranteed Fund of Hedge Funds offered publicly to Swiss investors. This success finally encouraged SocGen to found Lyxor in 1998. In 2002 Daniel became shareholder in MFEX in Stockholm, which today is the leading fund platform in Nordic countries. Before founding ACOLIN in 2006, he advised different asset management companies in structuring their fund businesses.

Michael Mabbutt Michael was a founding partner of Thames River in 1998, He worked as a fund manager and team head in the Global Credit division which saw assets grow to over $3 billion under management by the end of 2007. During the course of 2007, Michael decided to retire after 20 successful years of managing fixed income and credit portfolios. Michael remained a consultant to Thames River and since 2008 his work has included investment advisory services to a multi-family office, assessment of bond and credit teams for a large UK pension fund and more recently, assistance with the credit products at Thames River Capital. From 1992 to 1998, Michael was a global fixed income and emerging market debt fund manager at Baring Asset Management and LGT Asset Management (now Invesco Perpetual) in London. From 1986 to 1992, he worked at Norwich Union in Cape Town where he managed fixed income portfolios. Michael has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of Cape Town. Daniel Flück, Senior Manager Private Label Business Development, Universal-Investment As Senior Manager, Daniel Flück supports the Private Label Business Development department in gaining new fund projects. His area of activities also includes further expanding and developing the foreign business of Universal-Investment with asset managers. A graduate in business economics, Flück started out as Managing Director responsible for marketing and distribution at Arcturus AG and went on to become Head of the Analyst Team of Greisinger Consulting in Liechtenstein. Before joining Universal-Investment he was Managing Partner of HwV Research GmbH where he was fund advisor responsible for fund selection of two fund of funds. Alexander Nitsch, Partner at TBS Labs Alexander is a Partner at TBS Labs, an independent Portfolio Management and Financial IT Service provider based in Switzerland. Prior to his time at TBS Labs, Alexander was a Partner and co-founder of a Zurich-based CTA hedge fund boutique and a Research Analyst with FiveT Capital, specializing in Alternative Investments and the European equity markets. His previous work experience includes ventures in the M&A area with Rothschild Frankfurt, as well as in the strategic controlling and IT consultancy sectors. He holds a Master s degree in International Business Administration, having studied at universities in Tübingen (Germany), Sydney (Australia) and Oulu (Finland).

Markus Fuchs, Senior Counsel at Swiss Fund Association SFA Markus Fuchs has been working in the investment fund industry since 1992. He built up and headed the Products & Fund Services team at Bank Hoffman, a subsidiary of Credit Suisse in the nineties. From 2000 until 2004 he headed the fund product management team of Swiss Life as CEO of Swiss Life Funds AG. He then joined UBS AG as a Managing Director (Global Wealth Management & Swiss Bank / Products & Services) where he had the overall responsibility for proprietary hedge fund products. In November 2010 he joined the Swiss Funds Association SFA as a Senior Counsel, namely in charge of the areas asset management and alternative investments. He obtained a degree in Economics from the University of Zurich and an Executive MBA from the IMD International Management Development in Lausanne. Carolin Schober, Reporter at CNBC Carolin is CNBC s Swiss market reporter based in Zurich. Fluent in both German and English, she has been bureau co-ordinator for the network for the past two years. Carolin has covered key events for CNBC such at the Geneva Motor Show. Carolin gained experience in the financial sector in Germany and the US before completing her Masters degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich.
