CAMRADATA Live Bespoke Benchmark Tool Options 1 In order to create a working Infosheet in the CAMRADATA Database, you first need to select a benchmark from our predefined list in order to link the benchmark returns to the vehicle. Unfortunately, on some occasions it is not possible for CAMRADATA to source the specific benchmark you need, so instead there are various options available to you in order to upload your specific benchmark data. You are able to upload your own Benchmark Returns, Composite Benchmarks is a tool to build bespoke indices using two or more standard benchmarks and finally you can choose a base benchmark and include the target you aim to outperform this by, using the Outperformance Target Benchmarks option. The following document will guide you through using each tool. Contents Uploading your own Benchmark Returns 2 Importing Returns 2 General Formatting rules 3 Troubleshooting 4 Setting up a Composite Benchmark 5 Setting up an Outperformance Target Benchmark 7
Uploading your own Benchmark Returns Go to the Vehicle > Returns and Benchmark tab and click on the green cross under Benchmark History to add a new benchmark. 2 Next, click on Search and in the Benchmarks form which opens click on the check box next to Upload Own BenchmarkReturns. Click on OK and the form will then close and the screen will take you back to the Benchmark History Table. Next complete the Benchmark Type and Start Date fields and use the Green Tick to save the row. You will then see a warning message which prompts you to complete the Benchmark Returns column - you can either type the numbers in manually or important them using our import facility. Importing Returns In order to create the template to import your returns, you must first click on the Export Returns button.
This will create a file in Excel, which looks like the table below in which you can paste your monthly benchmark returns: A B C D E 1 137763 Strategy test fund 2 121326 Vehicle Test vehicle 3 Currency= GBP 4 Ending Date GrossReturn NetReturn Assets (MM) BenchmarkReturn 5 Mar-11 1 6 Feb-11 1 7 Jan-11 1 8 Dec-10 1 9 Nov-10 1 10 Oct-10 1 11 Sept-10 1 12 Aug-10 1 13 Jul-10 1 14 Jun-10 1 15 May-10 16 Apr-10 17 Mar-10 18 Feb-10 19 3 Once you have entered the correct values in the files, save the file as a csv file. Then go back into CAMRADATA, click on the browse button, find the file and click on the import button. The system will tell you if the import has been successful, and you see the results in the relevant screen immediately. General Formatting rules None of the fields are mandatory All figures have 4 decimal places Do not include % signs, but the figures need to be percentage values Do not include commas in the numbers The numbers next to the Strategy and Vehicle names are unique identifiers within the system; hence you need to create the correct export file first, before being able to import it.
Troubleshooting Scenario 1 I only have returns for 2007 to load into the vehicle. So I import the file delete all the lines except for 2007, populate the spreadsheet and import. Why have all my returns, apart from those for 2007, disappeared? Solution Because you deleted those records from the file, so the system thinks they are nil. In this scenario you can just input the 2007 figures in the file and leave the rest of the entries as they are. Scenario 2 I want to be able to import all returns for all vehicles from inception. How do I do this without having to input data for each vehicle separately? 4 Solution Create the export file at firm level, and then add in the extra months under each strategy / vehicle. Save the file as csv and import it at firm level. Scenario 3 When I click on Export Returns nothing happens. Solution You need to have the CAMRADATA website set up as a trusted website, which then allows files to be freely downloaded. To do this, in internet explorer go to:
