This course takes the numbers in the financial statements and uses them in a variety of calculations to gain further insight about a company s position and performance. It includes: 150 Working capital; what it is and how to calculate it Calculating and understanding gearing and interest cover Calculating and understanding return on capital employed (ROCE) and return on equity (ROE) Calculating and understanding liquidity ratios Calculating and understanding earnings per share (EPS), PE ratio and dividend yield Other measures including EBITDA Non financial metrics and their relevance Group accounting 4: Foreign subsidiaries and complex group structures FRS102 1 year on (OCRLive) 30 October, 1.00pm 4.00pm 9 November, 12.00pm 2.00pm Delegates should have an understanding of basic group accounting. The course covers both IAS 21 Foreign currency and how to deal with subsubsidiaries. Practical exercises are included. It includes: Functional and presentation currency concepts Dealing with foreign currency transactions Translating a foreign subsidiary ready for consolidation Dealing with goodwill on a foreign subsidiary The translation reserve Sub subsidiaries and how to consolidate them Provides an overview of FRS 102 and how companies have dealt with the changeover over the last 12 months 150 99 Accounting year in review (part of the BPP annual conference can be booked as a standalone session) 12 December, 2.45pm 4.15pm With 2016 proving to be a year of change for many companies, the Accounting year in Review session will include detail on the following plus reference to any other relevant updates: FRS 102 application how have we done so far?
