John Deere and You: Annual Benefits Enrollment for 2017

John Deere is committed to providing comprehensive, valuable, and affordable benefits to you and your family through our Healthy Directions program. Your health care benefits offered through Healthy Directions deliver exceptional value. In fact, Healthy Directions has consistently ranked among the most valuable benefits programs when compared to companies in similar industries. Together, we have been able to maintain a leading program through our shared responsibility of managing health care costs. John Deere does its part by offering a variety of health, wealth, and lifestyle benefits, and you do your part by making wise health and health care decisions. We ask for your continued support throughout 2017, starting with annual benefits enrollment October 3 14, 2016. There will be elections you may want to make this year, so be sure to review your options and make informed choices. Read on to learn more about the benefits and resources available to you and your family in 2017. Annual Benefits Enrollment is October 3 14, 2016. There are a few important things to consider when making your elections for next year. If you currently have medical and/or dental coverage through John Deere, you do not need to actively enroll in these benefits to continue receiving coverage for 2017; no action is required to carry over your current medical and/or dental elections for 2017. If you maintain a Health Savings Account (HSA) and/or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you must actively elect contributions for 2017; your current HSA and/or FSA elections will not carry over to 2017. 2

What s Inside This guide highlights the variety and value of the benefits we provide to you and your family through Healthy Directions. Step-by-Step: 2017 Annual Benefits Enrollment Below is a list of step-by-step instructions for making the most of annual benefits enrollment. Step Action 1. Understand your benefit options for 2017. Read this guide and review the FAQs on page 6. 2. Determine the coverage tier that s right for you. 3. Estimate the cost of your health care expenses for the coming year. 4. Think about which health care and dental benefit plan options are right for you (or you can opt out of coverage if you have it elsewhere). 5. Decide how much you want to contribute to your HSA, if eligible. 6. Decide if you want to contribute to a Limited Purpose Health Care FSA or Dependent Care FSA. Think about who you want to cover (Employee Only, Employee & Spouse, Employee & Child(ren), Employee, Spouse & Child(ren)). See page 5. Go to myuhc.com to view your past year s claims to see what you spent on health care services. You can also call myhealth at 1-888-533-3731 for help. See the Health Plan Selection Guide on page 4. Your 2016 HSA election will not carry over in to 2017. If you are opening a HSA for the first time or making elections for 2017, you will do so through Fidelity, our HSA administrator. Deere Direct does not manage HSA elections. See page 8. Fidelity offers an online modeling tool to help you decide how much to contribute to your HSA. See page 9 for more details on these accounts. Medical Call Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373 if you want to change your health care plan or covered dependents for 2017. If you want to keep your current benefits, you do not need to call. 7. Congratulations, you are ready to make your elections! Dental Call Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373 if you want to enroll or opt out of dental benefits for 2017. If you want to keep your current benefits, you do not need to call. HSA Go to netbenefits.com or call Fidelity at 1-800-354-3427 to make your HSA elections. If you do not complete this step, your contribution for 2017 will be $0. FSA Call Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373 if you want to contribute to a FSA. If you do not complete this step, your contribution for 2017 will be $0. If you don t want to contribute, you do not need to call. 8. Double-check your Annual Benefits Enrollment Confirmation Letter. If you make changes during the annual benefits enrollment period, we will send you a confirmation letter of your 2017 election changes in the mail in November. Please make sure you review the letter. If any information is incorrect, contact Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373. Reminder! During the past year, we requested benefit eligibility verification documents, like birth certificates and marriage licenses. If you have not already done so, please provide us with these documents in order for us complete your 2017 benefit elections. 3

Health The health benefits John Deere offers through Healthy Directions deliver exceptional value to help you and your family satisfy your health care needs. What s New for 2017? Employee Premium Contribution For active, full-time employees, there will be no increase to your employee premium contribution. Maximum Out-of-Pocket Expense Will increase for both health plans. This is the maximum amount you would pay for covered medical benefits in the year, including the deductible and coinsurance but excluding the employee premium contribution. Employee Deductible Amount Will increase for both health plans. This is what you pay for non-preventive covered benefits before insurance pays. Coverage Enhancements Real Appeal: A clinical weight management program, for employees and spouses enrolled in a medical plan paid as preventive benefit, not subject to your deductible or coinsurance. Autism: Expanded coverage for autism diagnosis, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) where medically necessary. Gender Identity Disorder: Coverage for gender reassignment where medically necessary. Health Plan Selection Guide Which health plan has the lowest total out-of-pocket cost for you? It depends on your coverage tier and the amount of non-preventive health claims you have during the year. 1 2 If you are in this tier......and you expect health care costs in this range for the coming year, then your... Employee Only $1,722 or less $1,773 - $7,421 More than $7,421 Employee & Spouse $3,390 or less More than $3,390 Employee & Child(ren) $3,498 or less $3,499 - $15,214 $15,215 - $16,790 More than $16,790* Employee, Spouse & Child(ren) $3,843 or less $3,844 - $12,458 More than $12,458 3 lowest out-of-pocket cost ** option is... MAX MAX *Cost difference between plans is approximately $1. ** Your lowest out-of-pocket cost is determined by adding your employee premium contribution, health care claims applied to the deductible, coinsurance (limited by the out-of-pocket maximum), and company Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution. 4

2017 Health Plan Comparison Which health plan is right for you? It depends on your personal health care needs and what matters most to you and your family. Use the tables below and the personal information available on myuhc.com to compare the coverage under our two health plans. We re also including information on our dental benefits. Employee Premium Contribution Semi-Monthly Rates Employee Premium Contribution Weekly Rates Employee Only Employee & Spouse Employee & Child(ren) Employee, Spouse & Child(ren) Employee Only Employee & Spouse Employee & Child(ren) Employee, Spouse & Child(ren) $32.57 $93.19 $73.23 $138.80 $15.03 $43.01 $33.80 $64.06 MAX $23.49 $80.19 $56.62 $110.72 $10.84 $37.01 $26.13 $51.10 Dental $2.64 $8.52 $6.98 $12.83 $1.22 $3.93 $3.22 $5.92 Deductible (paid by you) HSA Contribution (made by Deere) Coinsurance (paid by you after deductible) Preventive Care (paid by the plan) Out-of-Pocket Maximum Least You Would Pay* Employee Only Employee & Spouse Employee & Children MAX MAX MAX Employee, Spouse & Children MAX $1,500 $2,400 $3,000 $4,800 $3,000 $4,800 $3,000 $4,800 $750 $750 $1,400 $1,400 $1,400 $1,400 $1,400 $1,400 20% 10% 20% 10% 20% 10% 20% 10% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% $2,800 $3,000 $5,600 $6,000 $5,600 $6,000 $5,600 $6,000 $32 -$186 $837 $524 $358 -$41 $1,931 $1,257 Numbers in red indicate that HSA contributions from Deere are more than what you spend on employee premiums during the year. Amounts do not reflect the tax savings to you that result from employee and company HSA contributions being made on a pre-tax basis. This can save you as much as $1 for every $3 to $4 you contribute. The benefit comparison is for allowed covered benefits provided by network health care providers. Different Deductibles. Same HSA Benefit. Whether you enroll in or MAX, you can use HSA dollars, including what John Deere contributes to your account, to pay for eligible health care services right now (subject to IRS rules). Your HSA money is just that yours. You decide when, how, and where to use your HSA funds. Don t miss out on this great benefit by forgetting to contribute in 2017! For more information, see the Wealth section of this guide. 5

Health Plans Your willingness to be good stewards of our benefits programs and make wise health care and lifestyle decisions is allowing us to keep key aspects of our health plans the same for next year. There are no increases to employee premium contributions or coinsurance for 2017. However, as you know, we share some increasing costs for health care benefits with employees. This year is no exception as there are increases to your deductible in each health plan ($50 for Employee Only and $100 for Family) and maximum out-of-pocket limit in each health plan ($100 for Employee Only and $200 for Family). You have access to two health plans: and MAX. View the Summary of Coverage documents on the Healthy Directions website for detailed information. To see your current elections, visit myuhc.com (registration required for first-time users). Common to Both Plans Cost of health care benefits John Deere pays a significant portion of the cost for your health care benefits Coverage tiers Employee Only, Employee & Spouse, Employee & Child(ren), and Employee, Spouse & Child(ren) Preventive care at 100% Full coverage for eligible services* like annual physical exams Types of covered health care services Medical, prescription drug, vision, and hearing Health benefits protection For covered in-network services once the deductible is met UnitedHealthcare (UHC) network Broad network of providers; no referrals from a primary care physician needed to see an in-network specialist Plan Selector Tool Helps you and your family choose the plan that best suits your needs Differences Between Plans Employee premium contribution amounts has higher employee premium contributions; MAX has lower employee premium contributions Deductible amounts has a lower deductible; MAX has a higher deductible Maximum out-of-pocket expense has a lower maximum out-of-pocket cost limit; MAX has a higher maximum out-of-pocket cost limit Coinsurance has a higher coinsurance rate; MAX has a lower coinsurance rate * For a complete summary of preventive care services, please visit the Healthy Directions website at www.deere.com/healthydirections. Dental The dental plan pays benefits for a broad range of covered dental services. Dental coverage is separate from the health plan, and maintains separate employee premium contributions, deductibles, and annual/lifetime maximums. You can receive dental services from any licensed dentist; there is no UHC dental network. FAQs: 2017 Annual Benefits Enrollment Q: How do I find out which health plan I am currently enrolled in? A: On the front of your UHC ID card you will see the name of your health plan. You can also log onto myuhc.com to see your health plan s name, verify who is covered, find providers, view claims, and more. Q: How do I know my changes have been made? A: If you make changes during the annual benefits enrollment period, we will send you a confirmation letter of your 2017 election changes in the mail in November. Please make sure you review the letter. If any information is incorrect, contact Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373. Q: I don t want to make changes to my benefits for 2017, so I don t need to do anything, right? A: It depends on your situation. If you are satisfied with your current medical and/or dental coverage, you do not need to take action to continue receiving those benefits in 2017. If you want to contribute to an HSA or FSA for 2017, you do need to actively elect how much you wish to contribute. You can make HSA elections by visiting netbenefits. com or calling Fidelity at 1-800-354-3427. You can make FSA elections by calling Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373. 6

Healthy Directions: How We Stack Up Aon Hewitt, a global consulting firm, conducts an independent analysis of benefits programs. John Deere uses this analysis to benchmark our benefits with similarly-situated companies. The average value of all benefit plans offered by each employer is compared and ranked in a Benefit Index. The results of this comparison show Healthy Directions is in the top twenty-five percent of health benefits offered when considering employee premium contributions, point-of-care costs, and company-provided funds. Who We re Compared To 3M Alcoa Boeing Caterpillar Cummins Honeywell Illinois Tool Works Johnson Controls and others... Wealth The wealth benefits John Deere offers through Healthy Directions provide opportunities for you and your family to save pre-tax dollars for health care expenses and receive contributions from the company to help you pay for health care. What s New for 2017? Health Savings Account (HSA) Your 2016 HSA election will not carry-over into 2017. If you are opening an HSA for the first time or making elections for 2017, you will do so through Fidelity, our HSA administrator. Deere Direct does not manage HSA elections. Go to netbenefits.com or call Fidelity at 1-800-354-3427 to make your HSA elections. Annual IRS limits on how much can be contributed to an HSA: $3,400 (Employee Only; increased from 2016), $6,750 (Employee & Spouse, Employee & Child(ren), and Employee, Spouse & Child(ren); same as 2016). John Deere still provides a contribution of $750 for Employee Only coverage or $1,400 for Family coverage. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) The contribution limit for the Limited Purpose Health Care FSA is $2,550, same as 2016. The contribution limit for the Dependent Care FSA is $5,000, same as 2016. Call Deere Direct at 1-888-432-3373 if you want to contribute to an FSA. Did You Know? HSAs are a great way to budget for your annual health care expenses! If you are paid semi-monthly and you contribute just $86 each paycheck to your HSA on top of what John Deere contributes to your account you ll have enough money to cover the out-of-pocket maximum in for Employee Only coverage. Setting aside money each paycheck helps build an HSA safety net so you can handle an emergency medical situation or save for future health care needs. Plus, since you save $1 on taxes for every $3 to $4 you contribute to your account, your money goes further. 8
