Enrollment Process Individuals must complete the enrollment process within 31 days from the date of benefits eligibility. Once new hire benefit elections have been made, any subsequent Qualifying Family Status Change must be done on paper

Assistance during the Online Enrollment Process If an employee needs assistance when enrolling online, Benefit Division kiosks are available: Second floor of 720 University Place Available 9am to 5pm, M-F 8 th floor of Abbott Hall (710 Lake Shore Dr) Available 9am to 5pm, M-F Computer-based training is available and is accessible from HRIS Self Service. Sign into HRIS Self Service The Self Service URL is: http://nuhr.northwestern.edu Enter your NetID and password Click the yellow Sign In button
Navigate to Benefits Enrollment Click the Benefits Enrollment link found under the Benefits folder.
Begin the Enrollment Process The Event Description will read Once you click the Benefits Enrollment link, the page is brought to the Benefits Enrollment page. Click the Select button to begin the enrollment process
New Hire Benefits Enrollment Take the time to read the text at the top of the page above the Enrollment Summary. The text describes the timeframe during which you should make your elections, the dates on which elections will take effect, and under what circumstances subsequent benefit changes are allowed. Throughout ebenefits, you will see This section provides links to additional websites and Benefit forms that may be needed during the New Hire benefit election process. Clicking the link will open a new web browser on your screen.
Enrollment Summary The Enrollment Summary section displays the benefit plan options that you are eligible to select from. will be applied if you make no election whatsoever. For example, if you do not choose a Health Care plan, no plan will be chosen for you you will have no coverage.
Enrollment Summary Click the Select button next to the benefit plan for which you would like to make an enrollment selection.

Enrolling in a Health Care Plan Click the radio button next to the Health Care plan you would like to enroll in.

What Happens Next? A business day or two after submitting your online elections, you will receive an email stating that your elections have been processed. Verify your elections by using the Benefits Summary page in HRIS Self Service. Remember to submit any necessary paperwork to the Benefits division, if you

Tips when using ebenefits Do not use the Internet browser buttons to navigate. Instead, use the navigation provided within ebenefits. Read the information on all the enrollment pages. It contains important information about your enrollment.
