Introduction Although it has been a year since GST was implemented, there are still many technical and practical issues impacting the industry. One of the critical challenges have been dealing with the numerous revisions and rewrites of guidance and interpretations on how the GST applies. The most recent of these has been the release of the revised guide for Property Developers. This guide alone is 95 pages long. In addition, Customs have shifted their focus from education to audit, and with the introduction of new penalty provisions, there is increased pressure on those in the industry to be GST compliant, together with additional costs if they are not. We at Deloitte, understand the significance of these changes and the challenges they create, and our GST Property team is delighted to bring to you a half day workshop in which we share our thoughts and views on the current Customs positions and how they relate to the GST Law. Our panel of GST and property experts will dissect the Customs views and guidelines and share practical insights on what you need to do. The topics that we intend to cover include: Analysis of recent Director General Decisions and Guides relevant to the industry Key Industry Issues Practical & Compliance issues impacting business Wish list for the industry Steps that can be taken to address the outcomes of audits Focus areas for the year ahead Recognizing that each business is unique and that there are still many questions and uncertainties to be addressed, you will also have an opportunity to discuss your concerns with our panel of GST professionals. If you have any specific issues that you would like to discuss, please alert us beforehand. This way, we can arrange a private discussion for you and a Deloitte professional after the session.
