Deputy Finance Director Position Overview This new, temporary posi on will be responsible for assis ng the Finance Director with planning, direc ng, and coordina ng the fiscal management of the City of Cape Girardeau in prepara on for the Finance Director s re rement. The City takes succession planning seriously and is seeking to find an individual capable of successfully leading the Finance Division upon the Director s re rement. The Finance Director is under the supervision of the Deputy City Manager and is responsible for direc ng the financial affairs of the City. Both the Finance Director and the Deputy Finance Director will have con nual contact with the City Manager, elected officials, and department directors to define, explain, and obtain informa on on ma ers of financial concern. Both posi ons will be responsible for the prepara on of the City s annual budget and financial plan, and the development and maintenance of the City s financial reports, accoun ng prac ces, and fiscal records. A combina on of educa on, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Cape Girardeau policy. Preference may be given to those candidates registered as a Cer fied Public Accountant, Cer fied Government Financial Manager, Cer fied Internal Auditor, or related cer fica on. Financial Division Overview ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Finance Division/Office accounts for expenditures, assets and liabili es; prepares and administers the annual budget; manages the City s investments; pays bills and debts; monitors the annual capital plan; and works with auditors in preparing and presen ng the annual audit. Financial Overview City of Cape Girardeau, Mo. The City of Cape Girardeau projected $22.7 million in general fund revenues in the 2017 2018 budget. Nearly 34.2 percent of total revenues and 47.2 percent of general fund revenues are projected to be generated by sales tax revenue.
