Press Release Standard Chartered gathers Liverpool FC fans for a special match-viewing event Ebene, 14 September 2015 - Standard Chartered organised its second football match-viewing party at Flying Dodo for its clients on Saturday 12 September 2015. The event covered the live broadcast of the Premier League game between two of the fiercest English rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool FC, played at Old Trafford. The objective of this gathering was for Standard Chartered to strengthen the relationship with its clients by promoting the sporting spirit, while celebrating its sponsorship with Liverpool Football Club. Standard Chartered has been the proud sponsor of the Liverpool Football Club since July 2010. The partnership, which was renewed for an additional three years in early 2015, allows the Bank access to LFC players, past and present, to create and host unique experiences for its customers and clients around the world. According to Julian Kent, Head, Corporate and Institutional Clients of Standard Chartered Mauritius: Liverpool Football Club has a similar heritage to us with over 100 years of history, strong values and a determination to give back to the local community which has enabled us to partner on a number of community initiatives. Being the Club s main sponsor means we support the team in all its matches. In Mauritius, this is no different. We know that Mauritians are passionate about football, especially when it comes to supporting their English Premier League teams. We rely on this type of initiative to bring together our clients, fans of football and enjoy a good time over the match. In Mauritius, Standard Chartered officially launched a Football Academy in September 2014 for the underprivileged youngsters of the northern region of the country. Since July 2014, the Academy has recruited 20 young people aged 15 to 17 to be trained by a professional coach and ex-national football player. Through various initiatives, Standard Chartered promotes football and its values. It is the Bank s engagement and commitment to the socio-economic development of Mauritius, as reflected in its brand promise Here for Good. Though Manchester United won over Liverpool FC by a score of 3-1 the fans really enjoyed the atmosphere that reigned at the Flying Dodo pub in Bagatelle. In addition, clients had the opportunity to participate in several activities to win exclusive
