1. INTRODUCTION More and more customers are interested in online auctions as they can buy a rare item at a proper price. In other words, auctioning is a terrific means of customer acquisition. Understanding that, Magestore has released Auction extension that offers the capability for web-store owners to capture online auctions and allow customers to bid for products. With priceless additional features such as: user-friendly interface, easy customization, flexible auction management and etc, this extension makes sure of satisfaction and the great profit of your business. Therefore, why don t you complement your store by installing Auction extension and see how useful it is? For Admin Going, going and gone auction feature Allow setting an amount of time for an auction called going, going and gone. At the close time of your auction, the amount of time that you set will appear and count down. 2. HOW TO USE 2.1. Auction listing page To access Auction Listing Page, click on the Account link on the top right corner, choose Auction link. The Auction Listing Page will be shown as below. In details, it shows all products which are bidding and highlight the time counter for customers to follow. Auction Version 1.0 4
2.2. Auction Detailed Page Customers can view more details of an auction such as: time left, close time, start price and current price by accessing the Auction Detailed Page. Also, they can place a bid or an auto-bid on this page by clicking on the Standard Bid or Auto Bid button. Customers have to log in to place a bid. After that, they might have to create their bidder name if the admin configure that condition in backend. 2.3. Standard Bid and Auto Bid Features The Auction system has two types of bid: Standard bid and Auto bid Standard bid Customers select Standard Bid to input their bid for an auctioned product, then fill in a specific price in the blank. Customers click on Place Bid button to submit. The Standard bid option allows customer to place 1 bid at a time. If the bid increment is set, the system will suggest the minimum bid which is able to be placed. If the customer has the highest bid, there will be a notification You are the highest bid! when they try to Auction Version 1.0 5
place another bid. After Customers place a standard bid, their bid details will be shown on My Bids page. The My Bids page is displayed as below: Auto Bid Customers select Auto Bid and enter the maximum amount that they are willing to pay for the item. Customers don t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time when someone places another bid. - The seller and other bidders don t know their maximum auto bid Auction Version 1.0 6
- The automatic auction system will place a bid on his behalf - It increases customer s bid only as much as necessary to make sure that customer remain the high bidder or to meet the reserve price, up to his maximum auto bid - If another bidder places the same maximum bid or higher, the system will notify the customer so he can place another bid My Autobids page allows customers to view all of their auto bid details. 2.4. Watching feature Customers can click on Watch this link to add the auction into their Auctions Watchlist. Auction Version 1.0 7
It helps customers follow the auction easier. Customers can select Remove from Watchlist if they want to stop watching the auction. After being added into watch list, this auction will be shown on My Watchlist Auctions page. Auction Version 1.0 8
2.5. Cancel bid feature Customers can cancel their bids by going to My Bids page and click on Cancel link. 2.6. Auction checkout feature When an auction ends, the winner(s) can access the product page and process to purchase the item at the winning price as below. Click on Proceed to Checkout button, he will be navigated to Shopping cart review page. An email will be sent to the winner s mailbox which notifies the winning. For other bidders who did not win the auction, another email notifies the winner and the close price is also sent. Auction Version 1.0 9
The winner(s) can add 2 different auctioned products or more to cart at the same time but cannot edit the quantity of auctioned product in cart. 2.7. Email Settings Customers can choose to receive emails for auction activities: - Go to My Account > Auction > Configs - Tick on checkbox for which email that they want to receive - Click on the Save button to save the change. 3. HOW TO CONFIGURE 3.1. Create an auction Log in to Backend > Auction > Manage Auction, the list of auctioned products is shown as the following: You can easily see auction status such as Closed, Processing. Finish and wait to buy. The system will update status for all auctions continuously. Only auctions which are processing are displayed on the frontend Auction Listing Page for customers to bid. To edit an auction, click on the corresponding row of the product in the Manage Auctions Page in backend. To create a new auction: Click on the Add New Auction button Select a product by ticking on the checkbox. Note: An auction product is only be shown in Auction Listing Page when the Visibility of the chosen product is Catalog or Catalog, Search Auction Version 1.0 11
After choosing the product, the system will simultaneously navigate you to Auction Information page Fill in all required information Finally, click on the Save Auction button to save your work. The Auction Information page will be displayed as below: Auction Version 1.0 12

No Field Sample Description 1 Init Price 50 The price that a product is given at the beginning of an auction is $50 2 Reserve Price 60 The lowest price that store owner will accept to sell product at the auction is $60 3 Minimum Bid Increment 2 Customers need to place the bid at least $2 higher than the current bid 4 Maximum Bid Increment 20 Customers need to place a bid that is not $20 higher than the current bid 5 Starting Time 7/27/16 1:30 AM The auction will start at 1:30 am on 27 July 2016 6 Ending Time 7/27/16 1:40 AM The auction will end at 1:40 am on 27 July 2016 7 Extended Time (second) 30 Another bid placed within 30 seconds will make the time reset and countdown the last 30 second again 8 Multiple Winner 3 03 customer(s) who bids the greatest price for the product will win 9 Sell auctioned product normally Yes If Yes, all customers can buy a product at actual price without auctioning. 10 Sell normally after 3 The winner(s) can buy a product within 3 days. After this time, the option may no longer be applied & other customers can buy this product. 11 Featured Auction Yes A featured auction can be displayed in different places on the page by using CMS code Auction Version 1.0 14
3.2. Configure Auction system You can configure Auction system by following these steps: Go to Auction > Settings. The Auction Settings page will be shown with different configurations, including: General Information, Auto Bid, Bidder Name, Email Template and Implement Code to show Featured Auctions. General Information tab: No Field Name Sample Description 1 Auction extension's status Enable The auction system is enabled and you can start creating a new auction for bidding. 2 Automatically 5 After every 5 seconds, the Auction update auction information after information will be auto-updated. The longer time you set the faster loading for server bandwidth. 3 Winning Message The message will be shown in Auction box for winner(s). 4 Cancel Bid Yes The customers are able to cancel their bid Auction Version 1.0 15
Auto Bid tab: No Field Name Values Description Auto Bid Enable Customer can enter the highest price they willing to pay then the system will auto-bid for them. Bidder Name tab: No Field Name Values Description Bidder Name Generated by System The bidder name will be auto generated by system as Bidder1, Bidder2, etc. Created by Customers The customer must create a unique name to use in auction system Based on Customer's Name The bidder name will be auto generated the same with customer name Auction Version 1.0 16
